  1. Warren Buffett says 'I'm a Democrat,'. Warren Buffett doesn't think the rich in America are paying enough in taxes. “The wealthy are definitely undertaxed relative to the general population,” he told CNBC's Becky Quick during an interview on “Squawk Box” on Monday. ... His solution: Expand the earned income tax credit, which benefits people with low incomes.Feb 26, 2019
  2. Since your previous "glorious leader" Donald trump loved to use Venezuela as a whipping boy. I'd have thought you would at least know its a populist dictatorship government. i.e. what trump desired for the US.
  3. True. Alberta heavy oil called WCS(Western Canadian Select) is sold at a discount based upon a common shipping point. Which i think is Hardisty, Alberta.
  4. Thats not true. Some of the oil is re-exported as other refined products. But its the nature of a heavy and sour oil that leads to the mixing of Alberta oil with lighter, sweeter feedstocks at the Cushing hub and gulf coast refineries There will be a political cost in oil country for killing XL. Not because of its smaller impact on US oil markets. But because of a larger narrative that President Biden and the democrats are anti oil. It will be played for all its worth by the GOP. I'm sure Brent will be along anytime to amplify the GOP oil is good echo chamber.
  5. That story has not been written yet. Below a list of top oil exporters to the US in 2020. Canada56% Mexico9% Saudi Arabia7% Iraq5% Colombia5% and it averages 4,000 bbl a day from Canada .Below is the US Energy Information Agency EIA estimates that U.S. crude oil production fell from the 2019 record level of 12.2 million b/d to 11.3 million b/d in 2020. EIA expects that annual average production will fall to 11.1 million b/d in 2021 before rising to 11.5 million b/d in 2022. U.S. liquid fuels consumption in 2020 averaged 18.1 million b/d, down 2.5 million b/d (12%) from 2019 consumption. EIA forecasts U.S. liquid fuels consumption will rise to 19.5 million b/d in 2021 and then to 20.5 million b/d in 2022 (almost equal to the 2019 level). So the US will need an additional 700,000 BBL. a day of imports this year to meet falling US production.
  6. How do you think the EU competes with America when they pay carbon taxes based upon their Paris accord agreements? You and all the other trump/right wing/coal lovers keep singing the same tune. It costs too much, never will work, bla, bla, bla. Rehashing the same old arguments. Yet in Europe last year Renewable energy surpassed fossil fuels for European electricity in 2020 You do know the US is again a co-signer of that agreement don't you?
  7. That is how water rights work and its both effective and targeted in eliminating water waste. I was directing the comments more at Westerly with regards to the costs of your behaviors on others and unintended consequence. I think that you believe any mechanism that increases oil prices is useful. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. IMO as economies move from oil to carbon free. There should be taxation on oil, read carbon, to finance the transition and simultaneously reflect its overall damages to non users. For low income users of oil rebates of the tax in whole or in part to soften transition costs. For everyone else a carbon tax that moves transitions along. There is no need to place additional cost barriers in that transition. If the EU can afford $1.70 a liter fuel so can the US and Canada. Other than the transition needs to be phased in and the poor subsidized during the transition. Of course natural gas and electricity need to reflect carbon priced inputs.
  8. That is not a very powerful argument. The price of water, communication, roads, electricity, etc. all drive up the cost of living. If your neighbor draws so much water from the local creek that the creek goes dry. Leaving all those downstream having to haul water is that increase in living costs fair?
  9. While thats true in the US 70% of oil is moved by pipelines. Virtually every farmer is connected to a Nat gas pipeline for heating in most states. In the end its safer both for oil and gas.
  10. Maps close to cities show gas(natural) and oil pipelines all over. This is a map of current large oil pipelines to the US with the cancelled XL in green. If the pipelines were not marked nobody would know were they are.
  11. A low cost of petroleum should be used to increase the taxation base for carbon taxes. Such that the state and end users can properly cost pollution, global warming and other damages to those impacted. It certainly should not be cheap and IMO a carbon tax will be a difficult sell to Americans.
  12. I'm in favor of the XL mainly because its the safest way to transport oil. Oil pipelines entirely within the US may not be built or proposed now given the cost of licensing and permits. The cost to Americans for the cancellation would possibly be a couple pennies per gallon at most. Studies show that undiluted shipments of bitumen or heavy oil by rail is very competitive with pipelines being 12% to 31% less for rail versus committed pipelines. There will likely be additional train derailments due to the safety difference due to increased train traffic to the US.
  13. 'That would affect the rules of court procedures that are set up and overseen by the Arizona Supreme Court, on which her husband, Clint Bolick, serves." from the story in case anyone missed it. Just goes to demonstrate that GOP whores are not necessary blonde. This new infection of the GOP by pandering nutjobs and this story almost guarantees a splintering of the GOP party.
  14. There is a reason why there are so many "ambulance chasing whores" running around. They have experience sniffing out Ben Franklin's wherever they can be found. That relates to why many large corporations pay "greenmail". Even though they may have in-house council seemingly doing nothing. Nobody probably knows this better than trump. In addition there's the well known "golden rule" which trump is also aft to use.
  15. Stop feeding the old people because they are going to die soon anyway. I mean the whole concept of retired old people is economically wasteful. Once you're at the end of your life you should just move aside for someone younger. Book your appointment with Dr Kevorkian on your last full day of employment and just get it over.
  16. Unlike the blonde bimbos trump is most often to stiff. Unlike the lawyers trump has stiffed in the past. Now he can go stiff himself.
  17. Of course thats true but they finally cut trump off. FOX hasn't stopped the trump drumbeat and lawmakers have done nothing to address the loopholes in "free speech". Done nothing to uphold hate speech laws that are skirted by FOX propaganda. Now Facebook and Twitter may be acting to prevent legislation directed against their business models. But its US commercial companies like Amazon, that cut off Parler. While the left bemoans what their elected officials refuse to tackle. Hate speech or free speech? What much of West bans is protected in U.S. "But in the United States," Schauer continued, "all such speech remains constitutionally protected." Canada, Britain, France, Germany, the Netherlands, South Africa, Australia and India all have laws or have signed international conventions banning hate speech. Israel and France forbid the sale of Nazi items like swastikas and flags. It is a crime to deny the Holocaust in Canada, Germany and France." By wrapping "free speech" in the constitution and the American flag. Anybody with a keyboard or camera can publish vile hate and propaganda. Then escape consequence.
  18. It shows the dysfunction of law, policy and practice. When Facebook and twitter show more leadership than congress, the house and the presidency. When a lawsuit by a voting machine company may achieve more than federal laws.
  19. Like this? Republicans Won Almost Every Election Where Redistricting Was At Stake or Republicans solidify grip on state legislatures, which is likely to lead to redistricting and gerrymandering efforts in 2021
  20. A trump endorsed and christian affiliated group has been charged with conspiracy in the January 6 attempted coup and bloody insurrection. "Federal prosecutors investigating the violent riot at the Capitol this month announced their first conspiracy charges against the Proud Boys on Friday night, accusing two members of the far-right nationalist group of working together to obstruct and interfere with law enforcement officers protecting Congress during the final certification of the presidential election." They offered no explanation as to why trump, his inner circle, nor christian groups were not charged as well. Including their funding arms like "Givegosend.com".

    covid-19

“Come with me if you want to live”. Well after hearing about those in Wyoming who think masks and covid is still a joke. I think that those who want a natural herd immunity to unfold aka trump. Should go to the nearest bar or GOP rally.
  22. Are you sure? Its worked for you 509 times!
  23. A major news network interviewed republican voters in the streets of her district, Everyone stated that those were her "personal views" which would evidently be separate from her opinions in the senate. I assume, otherwise they've bought Q and trump completely. One non republican stated that she was "disgusting". It seems as if Ron ain't the only one in Georgia who's bought the whole hog. There was a Politico reporter who went to Wyoming to attend the anti- Liz Cheney rally put on by trump supporters. Nobody wore masks. Everyone was pro-trump and felt the vote for impeachment trial by Liz was wrong. In fact the reporter had to remove her mask to even get answers from rooms full of trump supporters. The divide that trump created seems set in stone for now.
  24. "A New York judge on Friday increased pressure on former President Donald J. Trump’s family business and several associates, ordering them to give state investigators documents in a civil inquiry into whether the company misstated assets to get bank loans and tax benefits. It was the second blow that the judge, Arthur F. Engoron of State Supreme Court in Manhattan, had dealt to Mr. Trump’s company in recent weeks. In December, he ordered the company, the Trump Organization, to produce records that its lawyers had tried to shield, including some related to a Westchester County, N.Y., property that is among those being scrutinized by the New York State attorney general, Letitia James." Little by little justice is starting to catch up with trump and his mobbed up family of misfits.
  25. How quickly we forget! "The Trump administration’s credibility crisis continues as the president is mocked for apparently signing a blank piece of paper with a marker in photos taken at Walter Reed military hospital, in a vain attempt to show him working while fighting coronavirus. On Saturday night, the White House released photos of Donald Trump appearing hard at work while in hospital, where he remained for a second night after a “very concerning” period. His daughter, Ivanka Trump, shared one of the photos on her Twitter, with the caption: “Nothing can stop him from working for the American people. RELENTLESS!” Later of course he endangered his Secret Service detail and others in his infamous staged photo-op staged motorcade to show his "health and Vigor". There is NO record of him visiting Walter Reed to visit with wounded service personnel.
