FIFY He wonders if he could have done somethun?
  2. Evidently the GOP has started to enact laws for guns akin to the Texas anti-abortion law. The Second Amendment Preservation Act " At the heart of the law is an audacious declaration — that all state firearms laws “exceed” the federal government’s power to track, register and regulate guns and gun owners....the law features a provision, the first of its kind in the nation, that allows Missourians to sue local law departments that give “material aid and support” to federal agents — defined as data sharing, joint operations, even social media posts — in violation of citizens’ perceived Second Amendment rights." "State Senator Eric Burlison, put it, the bill was intended to tell Democrats considering new restrictions to “pound sand.” So the battle-lines have been drawn with the USSC and its stacked conservative bias in the sights of GOP states. Eight other GOP led states have recently passed similar bills. Missouri has upped the prize "The Missouri law has the sharpest teeth: the provision allowing citizens to sue any local police agency for $50,000 for every incident in which they can prove that their rights were violated, provided they were not flouting state law. That reliance on citizens’ lawsuits — bypassing police officers and prosecutors who may be reluctant to pursue highly politicized criminal cases — represents another political strategy gaining popularity on the right," Don't forget the USSC recently allowed such "citizen actions" to stand.

Well its already known that the GOP leadership is blind. Perhaps they've been taking it already.
  4. Just FOX telling its audience how to think. But their anti-vax end game could also be at work.
  5. The Taliban announced their religious conservative hard line government today. I heard news reports that they need money so will co-operate with other western governments. No, they have a base to appeal to. The Texas government has announced laws and voting restrictions to appeal to their base. Some think that they would be motivated by money to change their views. No they have a base to appeal to and power always trumps money.
  6. Of course Texas law and schools need to thump the bible into the young minds of children. How Texas Public Schools Teach the Bible "A Dalhart ISD PowerPoint presentation used a graphic image from the Holocaust on a slide describing the massacre of King Ahab’s family and supporters. As the biblical story reads, the slaughter is performed at God’s request.... The Bible as a Science Textbook Course materials presented events in the Bible as factual, despite a lack of scientific evidence.... Example: Students in Amarillo ISD were given a chart titled “Racial Origins traced from Noah,” that described how African races and Canaanites descended from Noah’s son, Ham, who had a curse placed upon him by his father. This belief was used as a rationale for nineteenth-century slavery “and is sometimes still present in modern racist ideology.” No wonder Lindsay Graham wants to go back to Afghanistan. The only rightful god needs another crusade.
  7. Graham used to have a flicker of intelligence. Then his brain died, i.e. John McCain and it was all over. Turns out that his parroting of Senator McCain was all he had.
  8. What about the army generals and the intelligence services using different play books? Today Southern Pakistan "A suicide attack killed at least four people and injured 20 others in Pakistan's southwestern province of Baluchistan early Sunday, officials in the country said...."Our fidaee [suicide bomber] had planted explosives on the motorbike and rammed into the military convoy in Quetta," TTP spokesman Mohammad Khurasani said from an undisclosed location Sunday. "The security forces were about to leave for patrolling when they were attacked."
  9. Thats just a silly statement. "Callousness and cruelty have become hallmarks of the GOP since trump. Well even before trump. Just read the transcripts of trump's speeches. Its how they managed to get the Proud Boys and the Christian right to applaud the same speech. Sometimes applauding the same lines of the speech together.
  10. Evangelicals have found a new home along with Neo-nazis and white supremacists. So they are right at home. Its kind of all warm and fuzzy for them all. "An online whistleblower portal created by an evangelical organization to punish anyone providing abortion services in Texas has reportedly found a new home alongside neo-Nazis and white supremacists after getting the boot Friday by hosting provider GoDaddy.... To facilitate enforcement of the law, Texas Right to Life set up a digital tip line that lets Texans file anonymous reports about suspected violations. “The Texas Heartbeat Act is unique because it calls upon private citizens to hold abortion providers and their enablers accountable,” the site explains (emphasis theirs)....This week, the site was overwhelmed with obviously bogus tips about people like Gov. Abbott seeking abortions, Shrek porn, and countless copies of the screenplay for 2007’s “Bee Movie.” Texas Right to Life reportedly had trouble keeping the site online" In other news for the evangelicals behind the site and injunction was just issued against them: Texas Right to Life temporarily barred from enforcing 6-week abortion ban against Planned Parenthood No word yet on the brain abortion involving Gov. Abbott.
  11. All just a part of the Christian right's deal with Lucifer. IMO Ron must be somewhat of a classy guy. No I told you so. No smug stories of how the SC is starting to reward the GOP for what its done.
  12. You're such an idealist. All justice is political. In the appointments to the bench be it elected or appointed. In the decisions and sentencing that judges make. In the agenda of laws. Think The Sacklers, Who Made Billions From OxyContin, Win Immunity From Opioid Lawsuits Without derailing this thread they were not completely responsible for 300-400,000 dead Americans who directly died from their Purdue Pharma products. But they had substantial liability. Their products and actions killed a hundred times as many as the Afghanistan war did. The personal net profit after payment of the settlement is $5.5 billion.
  13. Wrong as usual. Your quote makes no reference to both trump's and Biden's popularity today. This rates GOP and it rates president Biden at 44% approval and a general ballot at 45% Dem v. 38% GOP as of two days ago. Why do you insist upon trolling? Is it genetic?
  14. "the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, a grouping of rebels, said ... NRFA forces had also killed large numbers of Taliban fighters on two fronts since clashes first broke out earlier in the week. “It has been proven to the other side that they cannot resolve this issue through war,” the spokesman said in reference to the Taliban's losses." Perhaps if the US had hired these guys instead of supporting Hamid Karzai and his other gang of kleptocrats. The US would have saved a couple billion and kept the Taliban out.
  15. You need to find better sources of information. From yesterday Politico: "The allegations against Gaetz were spread by Joel Greenberg, the congressman’s onetime friend and a former Seminole County tax collector, who pleaded guilty for sex trafficking the minor, for falsely smearing a political foe as a pedophile and for a host of other crimes. To get a lighter sentence, Greenberg is cooperating with federal authorities in their investigation of Gaetz. He is awaiting sentencing. No charges against Gaetz have been filed, although investigators have interviewed many of his associates, including past girlfriends. The investigation appears to have slowed down as federal prosecutors negotiate with a former girlfriend of Gaetz‘s who wants an immunity deal in return for whatever testimony she might give." Stephen Alford the person cited in your story tried to run a scam on Gaetz promising a trump pardon. To which he had no real prospect of getting. The sex trafficking of children by Gaetz is a separate matter and continuing. I'd guess ryoder cited a correct story of Stephen Alford's scam here already.
  16. Most of those who are not card carrying republicans remember Steve Bannon. Some may forget that he ran a little scam while he was chief political advisor to President trump. For which the GOP Don gave him an official get out of jail free card. Evidently he is now the persona behind the takeover of the GOP party. Heeding Steve Bannon’s Call, Election Deniers Organize to Seize Control of the GOP — and Reshape America’s Elections Bannon said "President Trump lost because the Republican Party sold him out....The solution, Bannon announced, was to seize control of the GOP from the bottom up. Listeners should flood into the lowest rung of the party structure: the precincts. “It’s going to be a fight, but this is a fight that must be won, we don’t have an option,” Bannon said on his show in May. “We’re going to take this back village by village … precinct by precinct. After Bannon’s endorsement, the “precinct strategy” rocketed across far-right media. Viral posts promoting the plan racked up millions of views on pro-Trump websites, talk radio, fringe social networks and message boards, and programs aligned with the QAnon conspiracy theory. Suddenly, people who had never before showed interest in party politics started calling the local GOP headquarters or crowding into county conventions, eager to enlist as precinct officers. They showed up in states Trump won and in states he lost, in deep-red rural areas, in swing-voting suburbs and in populous cities.” The danger to America is real. Imagine trump on roids.
  17. Perhaps a burka would help women in Texas needing an abortion. All those armed GOP deputies chasing after their $10,000 bounties. Would have trouble telling who from who.
  18. This should be required reading for all Americans To really understand democracy run amok.
  19. Joe and SkyDekker are both right about the new America plantations.
  20. So the Taliban kept the lessons they learned from Russia!. Think President Putin. Kleptocracy. So just like the Pakistani state. I still hear pundits parroting the "keep terrorism from coming to America line". Soon radical Islam will work its way north again. Perhaps Putin will be rewarded for his payments to the Taliban to kill Americans. Soon the Afghani's will be fighting each other and spreading Tehrik-e-Taliban militancy into Pakistan. Good on Pakistan. Its military and Inter-Services Intelligence services need a lesson.
  21. It seems as if many US presidents together with the higher up brass. All knew that lying to the American public was necessary regarding Afghanistan. ‘The Afghanistan Papers’ exposes the U.S.’s shaky Afghanistan strategy "Despite American presidents and military leaders providing years of positive assessments that the U.S. was winning the war in Afghanistan, behind the scenes there were clear warnings of an unsuccessful end. Those stories of failure, corruption and lack of strategy are the focus of Craig Whitlock's discussion with Judy Woodruff and his new book "The Afghanistan Papers: A Secret History of the War." For high ranking officers and Presidents. The first casualty of war was never laid bare for the public. "A confidential trove of government documents obtained by The Washington Post reveals that senior U.S. officials failed to tell the truth about the war in Afghanistan throughout the 18-year campaign, making rosy pronouncements they knew to be false and hiding unmistakable evidence the war had become unwinnable...those interviewed described explicit and sustained efforts by the U.S. government to deliberately mislead the public. They said it was common at military headquarters in Kabul — and at the White House — to distort statistics to make it appear the United States was winning the war when that was not the case.."
  22. Just today: Purdue Pharma Is Dissolved and Sacklers Pay $4.5 Billion to Settle Opioid Claims "Purdue Pharma, the maker of the highly addictive painkiller OxyContin, was dissolved on Wednesday in a wide-ranging bankruptcy settlement that will also require the company’s owners, members of the Sackler family, to turn over billions($4.5 over nine years) of their fortune to address the deadly opioid epidemic. But the agreement includes a much-disputed condition: It largely absolves the Sacklers of Purdue opioid-related liability. And as such, they will remain among the richest families in the country." It seems to me that the liabilities of synthetic opioids would exceed that. The justice system not "big pharma" is to blame for the personal liability protections to the Sacklers. But the issue is what did they know and when did they know it.
  23. Does a gun improve their standing? Coming soon to an abortion clinic in Texas. Armed sheriffs with a AR-15 in one hand and a bible in another.
