Agree, s*#t happens when you're a felon fleeing the law. Agree, it sure seems to be happening allot. Why does it seem to happen so much more in the US?

Well as you know I can get riled about lawyers. But they can be useful. -

Not a peep on the Putin Propaganda Broadcasting System, aka FOX. Too busy talking about Hillary. Oops, stopped talking about Clinton corruption because Hillary threatened legal action. -
That I'm sexist!

How many times have jumpers mistaken a Velcro cutaway handle with a ripcord? I guess I must be a little sexist because the debate in my mind keeps coming back to a 50 yr old woman. As compared to a experienced cop reacting to the same circumstances. I think of all the times hunters have shot other hunters, shot themselves, shot the wrong species of deer. "In 15 previous cases over the past two decades in which officers said they confused their weapons, three were convicted of a crime, including two officers who fired fatal shots. Johannes Mehserle, a transit officer who shot and killed Oscar Grant III at a train station in Oakland, Calif., in 2009, was sentenced to two years in prison. Robert Bates, a volunteer sheriff’s deputy in Tulsa, Okla., was sentenced to four years in prison after he shot and killed a man while meaning to fire his Taser." I struggle with this.

Canada has come so far in the last 20 years. Why just yesterday Canadian women showed complete dominance of the US in Olympic hockey. Nobody rioted because it was only the Canadian national expectation. Not even a celebration. Previously when the Canadian men's soccer team kicked US A$$ at the end of January. Solidifying Canada's qualification into the world cup. No riots, no celebrations. So Canadian.

Whores to the likes of GAAP, FASB, IFRS. Not at all flexible like the GOP.

Is that question not better directed to Mitch Mcconnell? Recent news reports indicate embryonic development of a backbone. -
Talk about thread drift!. OK I'll indulge. In Sydney Australia a UK diving instructor was just killed by a great white shark. While training for a charity swim this obviously empathetic animal loving man: Had no chance to defend himself as Australia has banned AR-15s Had he not been stripped of his rights to self defense. That tragedy could have been averted. Look at America! Few great white shark attacks, lots of AR-15s.

I'll heard it eliminated gang banging in B.C. Not Like politicians in the US "gun laws" have been promised to eliminate "gun crimes". Currently you can get a "hit" done for $5000 CDN, $3940 USD in the lower mainland of B.C. I have to insist that the Mod's lock this thread. If more discussion of dissidents, radicals and "truckers" is allowed. We won't be able to mock US problems and the far right GOP types that give cause to those problems. What will happen to our high ground? Our Canadian disdain for everything American?

Shhhhhhh! Canada's boy scout image has already taken a hit. Damn Alberta rabble rousers..

Agree most are unrestricted. So as long as those in possession had the appropriate license its not an issue. "Body Armour Control Act in June 2012. The Act requires anyone acquiring body armour to obtain a permit unless they are exempted (e.g., police officers). Anyone already possessing body armour was required to obtain a permit by December 15, 2012, or dispose of the body armour. After this initial six-month period, the possession of body armour without a permit became a chargeable offence." There are no restrictions in some other provinces for armor. There are a couple AR style weapons which currently cannot be transported, or sold in Canada. They along with the handguns will present some problems for those in possession of them. The current Liberal government has "banned them". Which currently means they can't be sold and presumably there is going to be a national buyout program like Australia.

There are allot of rednecks in Alberta, with lessor amounts in each of Sask and even lessor in Manitoba. "The Canadian Anti-Hate Network identified patches on one of the vests as belonging to an emerging right-wing militia network known as Diagolon. According to CAHN the group — which has chapters across the country — believes a violent revolution is coming and is necessary to dismantle the current system. CAHN says Diagolon and its associated white slash across a black background is a reference to a future country made up of the remaining "sane" portions of North America between Alaska and Florida. The group also has posted pictures with members displaying a diagonal arm gesture across their bodies." Who would have thought there were people like Ron in Canada!

No it's not the corner of Brent's basement. But "Four protesters in Alberta have been charged with conspiracy to murder, police said, in relation to a plan to use violence if police officers tried to break up a blockade in Coutts," . Based upon this seizure the Canadian minister for safety justified the imposition of the previously unused 'Emergency Powers act". He stated that even the protestors in Ottawa were "terrorists" based upon this group from Alberta. From an interview yesterday when asked why the Liberal government had enacted this act.

Brilliant. In hockey there is a Gordie Howe hat trick. Which is a goal, a fight and an assist in the same game. So a Donald trump hat trick should be tax fraud, fraud and sexual assault in the same year. Speaking of fraud and the Teflon Don. His old accounting firm has stated that it will no longer work for him. That it won't stand behind his representations for the tax years it worked for him. I guess some prosecutors pointed out some discrepancies in the representations trump made to them. -
Just because you cannot find an article that you previously took notice of doesn't mean its been removed from anywhere. I almost always provide the quotations from where I make representations. IMO they are seldom read or re quoted. "statistically significant evidence" could mean a low percentage overall even defined as "weak" Entire industries and companies use "statistically significant" to market drugs, products, etc. That are nothing less than snake oil. IMO after two years of pandemic if people don't know how to use a mask they have not made an effort. Don't contaminate the interior or exterior of a mask when putting it on. Ensure that its tightly sealing around all of its edges. Ensure that its a quality mask like N95 or similar. Cloth masks are not as effective. Change frequently, Don't reuse unless its ... You nailed it here: "Sure, people may have falsely assumed that masks work 100%. That's their problem, and the best solution to that is education" Wandering into the abyss of discussion that masks are not effective is a slippery slope fallacy. I'm not saying that you are. But the interwebs, Facebook, etc. are filled with discussions that masks don't work. They are not infallible but there is a reason why they have been used in OR rooms for over a century Some people have an agenda in suggesting that they are not effective. Science says they are.
-
Well I used to think that as well, until. IMO an inexplicable marriage that runs counter to this thread.

Agree. I've long had the view that the quickest way to get old and die.Is to move into a seniors condo. People go from yard work to doing nothing.

I went to look at a piece of antique furniture a couple days ago. They said that someone living with them was immune-comprimised and living in the basement. So they put the piece of furniture out on their back deck to be viewed. An older man was out on the deck when I arrived wearing a mask. Upon arrival he immediately went into the home. The entire family was wearing masks inside the home and peering out the windows at me. I was also masked and told them i was triple vaccinated. Long term care homes also have to cope with the throw the doors open political philosophies of governments. Oh well, as long as some can throw their masks away, go to bars w/o restrictions. The party bus of the few can rule the road.

Its all just a bunch of quasi capitalists trying to create jobs for themselves. A uniquely American phenomenon like the Elvis is alive movement.
