Inappropriate student canopies for lightweight people.
divegoddess replied to Trae's topic in Safety and Training
I'm still trying to wrap my head around this wing loading thing. I think I understand, but I'm just not sure if my understanding is correct. I only weigh 107 lbs soaking wet and so this kind of thing concerns me. I am lucky enough to be training at a dropzone that has a variety of student gear. They put me in a Navigator 200 for my first AFF jump, I decended really slowly and even though I was one of the first to exit, I was the last to land.BUT I didn't really know what to expect on my first jump. Still I know this is something I should be aware of as a light weight. I have a question though. The recommended weight for the canopy that I'm flying currently is 130. that should be your exit weight correct? Thank you for these threads, they help me out alot. -
I wonder if that guy ever jumped again .I would have a hard time getting back on the plane after that. I've not jumped from a skyvan yet, but I'm glad I saw this horrific video. I'll definatly keep an eye out for those hooks.... SCARY!

Check out some new music online. The internet is full of interesting stuff. Did you balance you checkbook and count all the change in your change jar yet? I dunno... it's raining like a bastartd over here too. It sucks.

I love cirque! I wanted to join, but they said I was too young (seriously) Then I got in a car wreck and now I'm out of shape.... I still watch it all the time on Bravo. I've never seen anything quite like it.

Godsmack..... I am officially on the bandwagon.
divegoddess replied to ccowden's topic in The Bonfire
I am saddened and disapointed to hear a fellow metalhead has fallen to the mainstream. The only closest I get to mainstream radio friendly stuff is avenged sevenfold............................................... And how come none of the metal fans have not acknowledged OPETH???????? Godsmack rips off Opeth on a regular basis. PLEASE PLEAS PLEASE if you are a metal fan (real metal like Dimmu Borgir, Between the Buried and Me, As I lay Dying, Blood Has Been Shed, and such) go check out some Opeth. My personal favorite is the Morningrise album. But they just came out with a new one called Ghost Reveries that I really like as well... Not your classic heavy stuff, but very intereseting. Their music is the most beautiful metal I have ever heard. My other metal obsession is DEAD BLUE SKY! If you are a black metal fan check them out. Their stuff is sick. But that's just like... my opinion man. And YES I am a girl that likes metal... I work in a factory ... that makes metal shirts so I can get into shows for free -
My boy toy has been looking at the ultra lights, and something called afford a plane. I joked with him that the only way I would let him build one (we have an apartment with no garage) would be so I could jump off it.... but I didn't seriously think you could. How high do those things cruise?

I have kept various scaled friends. One thing I have learned with frozen foods... and I'm not sure if it's the same way with snakes. Make sure you completely thaw the food before you feed it to your pet. i lost a gorgeous beardie that way. My ex gave him a frozen pinky mouse that wasn't thawed all the way and withing a week his bely was bloated, and I had to euthanize him. It was the saddest thing to see how much pain my dragon was in. Especially him crying in pain and looking at me to help him. But right now I have a lepard gecko. He's five now and he's really cool. I also have a beta fish that has learned to jump through a litle hoop for treats

I hear you.... well I hope it gets better cause right now I feel like I have a crack habit! I only have three jumps and I think about skydiving all the time. I even dream about it sometimes. All week everytime I looke at the sky, I want to be in it. I'm always thinking of ways to come up with the money for my next AFF as soon as possible (which is why it's really starting to feel like a drug habit) Once I get licensed and finally have my own rig, I know I will still spend the same amount of money on the sport. I just hope that the fact that I am able to get more jumps in will tide me over until the next time I'm at the dropzone. IT's really sad the way this consumes me. Good luck to you and blue skies ~Amanda

Rock climbing is bad ass. Not quite the rush of skydiving, but rock climbers are ripped. Rock climbers always have cool scars too. Let's be nice to them.

I will never understand why boys are endlessly entertained by boobies. I guess it's because I have my own and I can play with them any time I want.... I personally think those boobies are nice, but the nipples are too small. ~Amanda

I put on the paste and then add water. Why wet it twice?

I was supposed to pull at 5000 and I reached for it at about 4800. My JM said she saw my hand coming back, but she had already started to pull for me and did not want to stop in the middle. So they really weren't too worried about it. I just hesitated a second too long when I saw 5500. It's so hard to tell with the stop watch. I had to do it once and now I know for next time.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Oh my friggin head how am I going to get more money to jump again? First AFF down.. on to next catagory. ground school went by so quick... I'm not really happy with my jump though.BUT MAN did I have fun!!! As I was reaching to pull, I realized my JM had pulled for me I just hesitated a second too long.(I was actually concentrating on the altimeter too hard) I guess she thought I forgot It kind of freaked me out a little.... It wasn't there when I reached for it. I reached for it again and the just as I was thinking about my training for reserve.... I noticed I had a canopy over my head... there and square. ... Aside from that my exit went well, and I was nice and stable.... hopefully I'll get at least one pic up. My JMs were two of the most kick ass chicks that I have met. The one really nice thing they had to say( and made me feel better) was that my arch was nice. I can't wait to jump again. I learned SO much from one jump and I can't wait to learn more and improve what I've learned. I did get the video, and it's definately worth it. I noticed LOTS of stuff that I want to work on for my next level. I'll cough up the dough for each level. Thanks for talking me into it. Blue skies ~Amanda

I go through cycles It used to be that I couldn't sleep unless it was dark... and then I started working second shift. After that any opportunity I had to sleep.... I took it. Now.... I will sometimes go days without sleeping. Eventually I get tired enough to sleep and I will be dead to the world for days. I like having a cold pillow and I mostly sleep on my stomach. I have to sleep with something covering me and I don't really like having my foot or anything hanging off the bed for fear the monsters under my bed will eat my toes (the only exception to this is when I'm too drunk to care) Sometimes, the slightest noise will annoy me, sometimes I don't care. That might be even more strange than having consistent sleep complications.
