------------------------------------------------------------ I personally would prefer having a full faced hemet while I'm still learning how to fly my body.... IMO high speed + inexperience= learning the hard way at least once. So whether it be RW or freeflying I would much rather have the coverage of a full face in case something goes awry. hypothetically speaking... if I were a more proficient freeflyer with enough experience to start taking newbies out with me/coaching and what not... i think I still would like the fullfaced in case they lose control and come barreling in my direction. I dunno.... like I said though... just my opinion.

skysystems makes the factory diver helmet. Reasonable priced and the visor/lens is made to never open... so it's freefly friendly. I have also seen people jumping Z1 on freefly jumps...I'm picking up a factory diver on my trip to florida next week. I've heard nothing but good things about them. If you don't like the lens, you can always take it off.

Are the FF events going to be posted in your calendar? Do you guys have anything going on for safety day? I visited orange for the first time after SNE closed for the season in November.... NICE dropzone. I will definitly check it out.

there are safety glasses they sell at home depot for 5 bucks. They look like oakley knockoffs... They are flexible plastic and they are perfect for skydiving. Cheap to replace too. My man wears them and I'm thinking I might try them too... right now I wear flex Z minis

After 21 years of ballet I can't not stretch. If I don't before I fly in the tunnel OR the sky... it just doesn't feel right.

Seperation - near collision during deployment
divegoddess replied to lintern's topic in Safety and Training
newbie here.... but I have been told by more experienced freeflyers that it's never a bad idea to look around before you wave off and pull...I usually do a barrel roll to see if there is anyone in the air space above me and I look directly below me before I wave off. -
When did you stop being nervous?
divegoddess replied to Thomsen91's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I get a little antsy jumping in new places... or after i haven't jumped in a while.... or in certain cases jumping with people that i have not jumped with before.....but I stopped being utterly terrified whenI was cleared for solo. That was the best jump ever. Now when the door opens I can't wait to get into freefall. -
I have a small Rawa helmet and I LOVE it. At first it was even a little snug! But the more I wear it, the more comfortable it gets. It fits my head very snug and it's very quiet. (not alot of wind noise) Good luck

I'm still wicked new in this sport.... but IMO 200 jumps is REALLY REALLY early to start flying camera. From talking to experienced camera flyers at my DZ it isn't as simple as slapping a camera on your head. There is alot of added risk, and you should be q very proficient flyer before you go sticking a camera on your helmet. I reallywant to fly camera one day... but I don't plan on starting until I'm close or over 500 jumps.

changing pilot chute pull device - i want a hackey dammit
divegoddess replied to sinjin's topic in Gear and Rigging
I LOVE MY MONKEY FIST!!!! IT FUCKIN ROCKS.I have absolutely no problem finding my handle and getting a good grip on it at pull time. I hated those orange things. It always took me a second to find it, and I never felt like I had a good enough grip on it for a good throw. I jumped a rig with a hackey on it for about 20 ish jumps as well. I liked that too, but the monkey fist is better in my opinion. -
Opinions from experienced jumpers
divegoddess replied to matt_f_001's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
ditto I just tuck mine in and my openings have been nice. The one time I rolled the nose per a rigger at my dz my opening was much more "brisk" than usual.... not a slammer though by any means. -
O.K I gotta say first off I've never been to pepperell, but we have A LOT of jumpers who have either joined our staff, or are now making the longer drive to come and jump at Skydive New England. This has kind of made me not want to go to Pepperell at all... (but that is just My personal opinion... I'm not saying that Pepperell is not a good DZ to jump at) I have gone through my training at Skydive New England and EVERYONE there was fanfuckin tastic. There is SO much experience to learn from there and the VIBES are great. Everyone there is humble, even the people who should be skygods.I can land from a jump and get feedback from several coaches who were just hanging out and happened to see my landing. Instructors are always more than willing to take any amount of time needed to answer my questions. If someone sees me fighting with my canopy trying to get it in the bag or something like that... they often offer advise and tips without me even asking them. I just got my B license there, and it will be my home DZ for life.It is the never never land of skydiving. Please come up and check us out. We have everything you will need right there. Camping, food, fire, music.... bring beer ;p If you have any questions PM me and I will be more than happy to show you around if you decide to come up.

Female camera flyers - your sport needs you!

I'm done with the whole relationship thing for a while. They start off fine and then it goes down hill fast and I feel stuck.... plus I think I'm a psyco magnet.... I really like being single though.... I'm fiercly independant and I like doing what I want when I feel like it without having to worry about someone else. Maybe I'll find someone who understands me some day but until then I'm at the DZ all the time anyway so I don't really care.

Why did you start skydiving?
divegoddess replied to Chris-Ottawa's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I always wanted to, but I never wanted to go alone. Then I convinced my ex boyfirend that we should go on the one year anniversary of our first date. The guy who took me on my first tandem was really nice. The plane ride was amazing. When it came time to exit I was calmer than I expected to be. I did doubt my sanity for a split second while I was in the door.... and then I was in free fall. It was the most beautiful moment I had ever stumbled upon in my life. And when the canopy opened I had never heard quiet like that. It blew my friggin mind. As soon as I landed the boy came over and gave me a huge hug and started to tell me how glad he was I made him do that and how amazing it was yad yada yada..... but I wasn't really there with him... I was looking at the sky. The way I felt at that moment... I never wanted that feeling to leave me. My tandem master gave me a hug and said "welcome to the brotherhood" He immdeiately began to tell me about AFF and how I could get licensed. He said he knew the moment we exited the plane I would come back and see him some day as a skydiver. When he told me how much it was to get training and gear I told him he was crazy... He said " that depends on your perspective" For weeks after that I couldn't forget the amazing sense of calm after skydiving. I forgot everything in my life, for 60 seconds and it was so amazing I couldn't even put words to it... I spent the next few weeks looking at the sky and I started putting money away for AFF. Now I'm licensed and I'm planning a trip to go see him and get some coaching. ( I was many many many miles away from home when i made my first jump) The more I skydive, the more I like it. My friends are all annoyed by how much I talk about and I do feel a bit silly sometimes because of my new obsession.... I'm selling stuff I used to really like and I'm looking into a cheaper living situation so I can jump more.... and I don't regret it at all. Skydiving has completely changed my life for the better and I wish I had done it sooner. end of rant. -
Dude! You're landing area is friggin huge!!!

Crap! How do you treat a burn on your face without leaving a scar?
divegoddess replied to mmytacism's topic in The Bonfire
also cocoa butter helps prevent scarring
