  1. I think it's better not to have to S turn - it's better to teach them how to avoid that - you know - thinking ahead? Sorry, they have less than 100 jumps. You're wrong. As for held back...you sound like a 200 jump wonder trying to get a velocity - if you think recommending that someone should S turn with front risers to 'hit their target' is a good thing then you have serious issues. You need to think before you post Mark. To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  2. it is irresponsible to suggest using front risers to S turn on final Mark. You know better than that. To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  3. Yep, soon as the pilots ground speed is slow enough they can touch down whenever they like. It's entirely possible (if the wind is strong enough) to go backwards over the ground. So while 'toggle position at touchdown' may be different the speed at which is applied should be the same regardless of conditions (assuming level flight over the ground is the goal and the same approach is used ) Blues. 4. No. It doesnt change. To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  5. Pulling is part of it. You have to remain in a good position AND steer where appropriate WHILE the deployment is happening. Harness shifting during or even after deployment can cause the spin. Next time, use the rears to stop the spin. Blues. To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  6. After Adrians incident there has been quite a bit of discussion over descent rates. In case anyone missed it Lara from Alti-2 has posted some information on the neptune and logging descent speeds. While it doesn't paint the entire picture it gives us a better idea of what the neptune does/does not do while logging rates (I found it useful) so maybe some of you are interested. Thread can be found here Blues. To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  7. Too many events in too short a time span IMO. There were literally 4 weeks of competitions in a row for canopy pilots 1) Nationals 2) CPC - Linked to 3 3) GoFast Challenge (both CPC and Pro pilots) - linked to 2 4) The Ranch I'd like to have attended all of them but the vacation time (or if you're a full time skydiver, revenue generating weekends) to attend all events was simply too much. I suspect I'm not the only one - most people I know made nats and the colorado stuff. 8. Skydive Atlanta charges $169 to 14500 feet. No hidden fees. To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  9. Try doing complex multi dimensional block and random formations at 145 in a sit with HD flyers and see how far it gets you. 160 is a good middle range for both disciplines. Take a look at the VRW teams and you'll see sit flyers are having to learn to fly faster. 10. PM my teammate Travis (skyedivr). His body type is the same as yours. He can give you some good tips. Blues. To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  11. No it's not. A good versatile speed is between 155 and 165. 160 is a good midrange speed for both disciplines. Most 'slow fallers' are simply leaning forward. To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  12. First of all - you wankers holding onto video footage - stop it Second of all - here's some more pics. Blues, Ian To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  13. Anyone have footage from the ProAm event? Looking forward to see if any more videos from the event surface. Blues. To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  14. Guess that means you walk around on your hands all the time then? To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  15. I agree. I admit I didn't really think of that. Good post in general though. See you in the air. Blues. ps: Watching your routine was a shitload of fun - nice job
  16. I agree - but in regards to it being an 'artistic' event - I think it will fade....and rightfully so. Artistic events are simply too subjective, it becomes about what looks pretty not what is technically challenging. Check out the 4way vrw pool. I think you'll find it's a really cool mix of head up, head down flying. Yes, it's becoming more like 4 way but I think that's a good thing. The discipline has matured to a point where we're capable of doing multipoint, multiorientation vrw jumps. Turning blocks with a mix of head up and head down fliers is fun as shit Blues. 17. Because not many people like subjective judging. We have no intention of ever doing an artistic event again - this was a filler while we waited for 4way which is scheduled to be in next year. Can't wait
  18. Mirrorball. All experienced freefliers, over a non populated area. Yes, we kept and landed with the ball To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer

  20. It's not from the Nationals, but Team Mandrin has a video here It contains a lot of the moves from the pool. Blues. To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  21. I can ask Travis to post some of our footage. We'd all never jumped together before (pickup team) and placed 4th by 1 point (nuts!!) but had a great time doing it all. We have no intention whatsoever next year to do anything other than 4way. Blues. 22. Just tried to drive the point home to them a little harder Andrea by adding some info. The video he made is quite chilling. 1 second when you can't see somebody is all it takes. Blues.
