At least not without good training and lots of skydiving experience anyway. When you participate in sporting events, its not whether you win or you're loose, its how drunk you get.
-
I find it really annoying when people, especially News reporters, give the wrong facts about skydiving / base injuries or fatalities. I'm not specifically refering to this one, but it'd be nice to hear something other than "his parachute didn't open" once in a while. When you participate in sporting events, its not whether you win or you're loose, its how drunk you get.

Landing hard and I need help.

If you've still got height, SLOWLY let up the toggles, if not, flare with what's left and be prepared to do a PLF. When you participate in sporting events, its not whether you win or you're loose, its how drunk you get. -
The thing about landing a suit is that becuase of all the forward movement, what's going to impact first? Your head. When you participate in sporting events, its not whether you win or you're loose, its how drunk you get.

I finally got to jump my new kit today, and my hornet (170 at 1.2:1) rocks !! Opened nice, turned really quick and crisp, and loads of flare. If you're thinking about a first kit - GET ONE !!

Forum / email address book
SkydiveMonkey replied to SkydiveMonkey's topic in Suggestions and Feedback
Any chance we could link these two together, so that people you have added to your address book in the forums are carried over to the email section? When you participate in sporting events, its not whether you win or you're loose, its how drunk you get. -
Did you see the last round of the supbikes (not this weekends) where Noriyuki Haga hit a bird? Feathers everywhere !! When you participate in sporting events, its not whether you win or you're loose, its how drunk you get.

If you are in a different time zone, you can offset it in the control panel to your own time zone. (But it is 7 minutes fast

Landing hard and I need help.
SkydiveMonkey replied to NicoNYC's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I think some good canopy control lessons are in order from your instructors. On a student kit, turning 180 degrees in 250 feet should not be a problem. Have you heard of a flat turn? This is where you turn, but in brakes (ie. both toggles are down, but one further down than the other in order to turn). When you participate in sporting events, its not whether you win or you're loose, its how drunk you get. -
Ok i just took my lens into to get repaired and...

Are we talking helmet lens? Camera? When you participate in sporting events, its not whether you win or you're loose, its how drunk you get. -
I was chatting with the resident instructor at my DZ today after he looked at my kit and he said the best was to grab a reserve pad is to get the metal cable between your thumb and finger (like a handle) and grab the pad normally. It works if you've grabbed it normally and lost your grip and the pad it floating - just grab the cable instead of wasting altitude trying to grab the pad. just thought I'd say, cos I've never thought of doing that until today, and I know more and more people jump with pads now. When you participate in sporting events, its not whether you win or you're loose, its how drunk you get.

They'd never give you the keys to the hanger !! When you participate in sporting events, its not whether you win or you're loose, its how drunk you get.

That's the thing - it's gone too far the other way by making people sign. Checks sould be compulsory, but on a more casual level ie. it's still your ass you're responsible for, noone else. When you participate in sporting events, its not whether you win or you're loose, its how drunk you get.

I still say the way forward is a street-luge straped onto you

That's why I like my teardrop SF - its a pop top, so you've only got the one pin to check in plane, and it's easy to do without having to open the pin cover. I know that once I've checked my reserve pin on the fround, it's not going anywhere until I want it to. When you participate in sporting events, its not whether you win or you're loose, its how drunk you get.

I'll see that, and throw in another two - beer case
