  1. You can bore everyone at Christmas like im gonna do..."Merry Christmas, everyone! Here's a lot of pics of me jumping out of airplanes! Don't you love them?" Yeah, something like that...
  2. Gonna be jumping this weekend? Im doing my level 5 on Sunday morning and im a bit nervous...skydiving dreams every night but I can't wait!!!
  3. Wow!! Sorry it was so rough for you!!! My home DZ is San Marcos and Ilya was my ground school instructor. Im glad to hear they were helpful and understanding. Ive had great experiences there so far. Hopefully you will be back in the air soon!!!
  4. It's great to meet you! I do my AFF 5 on Sunday morning...a little nervous! Did you have any difficulty on any of the levels?
  5. Thanks for the great welcome!! Yep, already thinking of re-mortgaging the home...sigh...
  6. Hey, fellow Austinite!!! I just finished AFF 4 and have minor leg issues, also. If I were doing a tandem my bent legs would be perfect but right now its hard to even remember that I HAVE legs in freefall. Anyway, good to meet another San Marcos DZ jumper and good luck on the rest of your training!!!
  7. backflip!?! tracking!?! It fascinates me that we get only 60 seconds or so to learn this stuff...
  8. I did the same thing in my AFF 4 last week. I seem to have a problem remembering to find a focal point, though, so I can't seem to figure out if I did a 180, 360, or 720. Anyway, I was told it was because my legs were slightly uneven and toe taps are the way to fix it...that and I should stop looking at the ground because I am gonna be there soon anyway... Good luck with the rest of your training!!
  9. Just wanted to say "HI" to all the other newbies in the Austin area that have recently fallen in love with the open sky. For my birthday in May I really wanted to try skydiving so I did my first tandem and fell in LOVE!!! Went back to work the next day glowing and managed to talk 16 co-workers into going to do their first tandems with me 2 weeks later. I ended up doing 2 more tandems that day and immediatly signed up for ground school. Did my ground school in late June and have recently done my AFF levels 2, 3, and 4. My need for speed has increased (and my traffic stops...hmm...should really use that cruise control...the most recent stop I invited the officer to go skydiving with me...) and my bank account has decreased. Can't get enough, though. Looking for other AFF students in the area to share experiences, advice, fears, and nerves. Blue skies!!!
