  1. Oh, I forgot... Also, since I wait tables at Four Seasons Hotel, I get full benifits (401K, health insurance, vacation pay) plus free nights at any Four Seasons in the world... Works for me...
  2. It is stressful and you spend a lot of time running around. For me though, its totally worth it!! You don't have to take your work home with you and you can get away with doing it part time if you want. It's a great way to earn quick cash! I have been doing it for eleven years (I work in the fine dining business) and I work with a lot of waiters who have degrees in something else but have come back to waiting tables because the money is better than a lot of jobs you get right out of college. Besides, it keeps me in shape...which is good because I am too busy (or lazy) to go to the gym...
  3. Ohh...I know!!! I could finally afford to fill up my car at the gas station!!
  4. Thanks for giving away the ending!!
  5. Have not seen it yet but im gonna! They filmed that movie in Austin. I had the pleasure of waiting on Robert Duvall, Michael Caine, and Kyra Sedgwick when they were staying in town to film that movie. They stayed for several months. They were all super nice (Robert Duvall especially...25% tipper, too). Its funny...there are some movies that I won't see now because I've waited on the actors and they were real jerks...can't imagine contributing to their income...
  6. I scored 1040...but it was almost all guessing... Especially the part where you had to listen to the quotes and I had my computer speakers off...
  7. I got 50 bucks on skymamma..... noblesmelissa brings a lawnchair, ice chest, and some big foam fingers that read "Go Skymama"...
  8. Hmm...the first thing that popped into my head is you must give enemas... or you take the photos at the department of motor vehicles... or you are one of those annoying mimes... something like that.
  9. I wait tables at an upscale restaurant... basically I run around doing the bidding of rich, snobby important people.... in my spare time I remove brain tumors, build hospitals, help little old ladies with errands, and campaign to save the whooping cranes... Ok, not really...but I do allow people to merge in front of me in traffic...
  10. Four Seasons in Austin is always looking...
  11. NOW NOW NOW!!! Don't wait!! I wish I would have started sooner. Besides, as was mentioned earlier, you rarely ever hear the words COLD and TEXAS in the same sentence... Where are you planning on jumping?
  12. Nice to meet you, also!! I passed!! Gotta work a bit on my stability...still too tense so I spin like a propeller across the sky. As soon as I realized that it was almost time to pull I relaxed and went stable...go figure! On to Level 6...gonna head out there next Friday after work...I CAN'T WAIT!!! Thanks Dave for giving me such a great jump...I had so much fun!!
  13. LOVE the "spin" tandem video that you mentioned! Everytime I watch it I am reminded of that great feeling of my first skydives!!! I also like "How_Not_to_do_4_way.wmv" on skydivingmovies.com...they just look like they are having so much fun...
  14. I had the pleasure of meeting Robert out there last month... interesting guy...
  15. Hey all, just wanted to say I go for my level 5 (for the 2nd time) tomorrow at SSM and I wanted to know if anyone will be around the DZ. I jump at noon and I am a little scared but VERY excited and I was hoping on meeting some other DZ.commers while I was out there. Oh, and I was gonna see if any of you Austinites wanna grab a beer afterward. If I do well, Im gonna want to celebrate. If I do poorly, Im gonna want to drown my sorrows in a quick one so either way I hope to see some of you tomorrow... Blue Skies, Melissa
  16. Unfortunatly, I don't own a parachute either... guess I might need one...
  17. Hey, no biggie...stuff happens... As Donald Trump says "its not personal, its just business." Good luck with Anchorage. I wish you only the best. Everyone has been so nice and apolegetic about cancelling my reservation and been very accomidating about getting me up in the air again. My group is still undecided, but I will be out there on Friday at noon. I will probably bring a few victems...er, tandems...with me. Hope to see everyone there!!! I'll be the one looking scared and babbling from nerves...
  18. Awesome!! I didn't know that. Will definatly have to check it out... I think I have sucessfully hijacked my own thread...
  19. Hey, everyone, just stay off the corner of Congress and Oltorf...that's my spot for making extra cash!!!
  20. yay...lets do it!!! Im available most afternoons after work. I can probably do something on a Friday evening, also.
  21. I work right by it also (Four Seasons). Didn't know there were several of us skydivers in the area. You ever go to the Cedar Door after work?
  22. I booked a jump for 16 in June on a Monday at SSM...we had a FANTASTIC time! My group was the only one there and it was just us and the staff. I was the only one who had done a tandem before so it was so much fun to watch everyone exit from the plane...
  23. Yay...LETS GO!!! Still bound and determined to put a group together for Monday....come join us...even if it is just jumping off the Frost Bank building (is that the highest building now in Austin?)
  24. All this stress makes me want to go throw myself out of an airplane...
