    Please don't think that I was being negative...that wasn't what I was trying for!! Brandy (the girl I talked to on the phone) was very nice and apologetic about canceling my reservation and I definitaly understand that stuff happens. I love SSM; since I did my first jump there and my ground school that is where I will probably finish my AFF even though Texas Skydiving Center and Skydive Temple are both closer to where I live. I simply don't want to cancel on all of my tandems and wanted somewhere else to take them so nobody has to shift around their work schedules. Most of the people I am taking work in the restaurant business with me and it is hard for us to get off on weekends since it is the busiest time at work. I have had great experiences at SSM and I love the staff there. Im sorry if I came off negative; that really was not my intent.

    Hey, all, was wondering what you thought of Texas Skydiving Center versus Skydive San Marcos? So far I have done my AFF 1-5 at SSM. It's hard for me to get out there on the weekends (work in the restaurant business; weekends are hard to get off) and SSM is only open on weekends unless you bring in large groups with an appointment. I booked a jump at SSM for 15 tandems plus my AFF and today I got a call saying that they are going to cancel my reservation because of pilot shortages. I now have a choice: call up my 15 friends and tell them "Just kidding about that whole skydiving thing!" or find somewhere else to go. I talked to Texas Skydiving Center and they seemed really friendly, are open throughout the week, and said they could get me in. Since I have never been there or heard of it I was just curious about other peoples experiences there. Is it a big DZ? Im thinking it must be...how can they afford to be open all week? Any feedback would be much appreciated.

    Ive invited the cop who tried to give me a speeding ticket and the two guys who tried to get me to buy handbags in the mall... Can't go on the weekends right now very often because I work but on Monday the 22nd...come hang out with us!!!

    I saw the end of "Point Break" with Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves. Now about 14 years ago, way before I tried skydiving, I thought that was the coolest movie (of course I was about 15 years old then...what did I know?). My husband and I were laughing hysterically. I love that scene when they rob the bank and are making their getaway in the airplane. They are flying low, like at 2000 feet, so they won't get detected by radar. Patrick Swayze still manages to get about 5 minutes freefall time though when he jumps...

    Awesome!! Welcome to the world of skydiving!! Its gotten to where that is all I think about. I continually invite complete strangers to go with me. Since Austin is a college town every time I see students with their backpacks on I think, for a split second, that its a parachute... Let us know how the Aff goes and maybe we can do an AFF together sometime (Im on Level 5).

    Hey all austinites!! Putting together a group to jump on Monday the 22nd at Skydive San Marcos...the more the merrier!! They'll open during the week for you if you get together a group of 15 or more so Ive booked my time and now I gotta finish talking my coworkers, once again, to jump out of an airplane! Last time I brought 14 first time tandems and it was just my group and the crew at SSM...no waiting!! Anyone who wants to "come along for the ride (and bring a couple of tandems, if you got 'em!)" is more than welcome...just let me know.

    Skydive San Marcos is open for groups of 15 or more during the week... I took one group last month and am currently working on my second on the 22nd of this month (a Monday!!!) Wanna join us? Last time we went it was just me (I was doing my second tandem), 14 first timers from my work, and the instructors at SSM...we had so much fun with no waiting!! I seem to have a knack for convincing large numbers of people to throw themselves out of planes...hmm...

    Ok...I know im gonna get a lot of heat for this one, but... during my AFF 2 while under canopy, I didn't know that the radio was only one way. I kept talking back to my instructor. I figured that I was asking such stupid questions that he did not even want to dignify them with answers...

    Oh, and I forgot... Since I work in a fancy restaurant, people who ignore you while you are standing at their table trying to take their order...they will sometimes let you stand there for several minutes and then look at you like "how dare you interupt my important business meeting?" Or when they sit on their cell phones for 20 minutes and ignore you and then say "I've been waiting here for 20 minutes and no one has taken my order!" Wow...maybe im in the wrong line of work....

    You know what pisses me off? People who take up the whole isle in the grocery store!! I can't stand that they are not aware of what is going on around them!!! ARGGGGG!!!
