The Beast Is Starved: Welcome to the Next Great Depression
StreetScooby replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
It's been clearly shown, in this thread and here http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4163833;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread, that there's not enough taxable revenue to cover what Obama is doing, even if he takes all of the corporate profits and all taxable revenue from millionaires and billionaires. Have you understood this? Assuming you have understood those facts, then to get any more from the rich means you're going to start confiscating private property. The US Constitution prevents that. The federal government has a spending problem that is not going to be solved by taxing the rich, nor by any other class warfare mechanism. We are all engines of karma -
Ok, I'll let you get back to your tree hugging/rock hugging activities. Not that there's anything wrong with that. We are all engines of karma

Gee, you're jumping all over the place here. I'm not advocating pollution, nor do I condone it. We are all engines of karma

You live in Westchester County, NY, too? It's got a Democratic super majority, and we have the nation's highest county taxes. Think there's a connection there? We are all engines of karma

The people in Houston have jobs (so far). They just need to open the water taps in their house to take a drink. We are all engines of karma

Rough estimate for BP oil spill was 5MM barrels. That equates to about 1MM cubic feet, or 0.0000283 cubic kilometers. Gulf of Mexico has 2,434,000 cubic kilometers of water. The ratio of those two numbers is 0.000000000012. The Gulf of Mexico is not a cesspool. Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating or justifying BP's actions. We are all engines of karma

The Gulf of Mexico is a polluted cesspool? We are all engines of karma

Wow, even columnists in Britain are starting to question the sustainability of the welfare state: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/columnists/janetdaley/8685945/If-we-are-to-survive-the-looming-catastrophe-we-need-to-face-the-truth.html We are all engines of karma

This is the most anti-business administration I've ever seen, and it is simply shocking. A friend of mine is a general manager for an oil drilling company in Houston, in charge of Gulf of Mexico operations. Obama has not approved a single permit for them. My friend was telling me that prior to Obama, the revenues from leasing, royalties and taxes was the 2nd highest revenue into the Treasury. Obama has killed that. Now, with the results of the CERES satellite in (which shows, with real data, the Earth is losing plenty of heat and that the global warming models are wrong), there is no need for the EPA to have this ridiculous job-killing focus on greenhouse gases. It is simply mind boggling what they're doing. We are all engines of karma

The Beast Is Starved: Welcome to the Next Great Depression

I read an article recently that made a strong case against a balanced budget amendment (BBA). The language used in bills is not well defined. Thus, inevitably the courts would get involved in resolving budget disputes. If those courts are left leaning, it would present them with an opportunity to become an activist court, and that would be bad for all of us. Kudos to you! I hope the risk you're taking in life pays off, and that you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Most people have absolutely no idea how difficult it is to start a company, much less keep it going. We are all engines of karma -
What we need to do is raise revenue for the government to get out of this mess. That can be done best by putting business friendly policies in place. I'm also in favor of eliminating tax loop holes. We are all engines of karma

We'll have to agree to disagree on that point. One of the problems with our federal government's approach to welfare is the dismantling of the traditional family. "Rewarding" mother's for having children out of wedlock is not the correct path to take. Same problem in Britain. When girls have children out of wedlock so they can get council housing, that should be a red flag that something is wrong. Government should emphasize productive citizens. Productive citizens are responsible and can take care of themselves and their family. Otherwise, you end up with a society that doesn't work (...no pun intended). We are all engines of karma

Ultimately, it's the family's responsibility to educate their children, independent of what the "rich" think. We are all engines of karma
