How is providing for an individual who doesn't want to work (and there's a lot of them today) providing for the "general welfare"? Yes, that's a strong statement, but let's keep things simple for the purposes of this discussion

This may make 4-way difficult, as the folks you're jumping with will have to break their box position to take grips on your arms/legs. That tends to put "pulses" into the formation, kind of defeating the purpose of 4-way We are all engines of karma

Our Constitution enshrines the individual pursuit, not what is best for society. Society is best served by individuals pursuing their own self interest in a civilized manner. Not by elected people telling them how to live their lives/what's best for society. We are all engines of karma

Completed AFF Level 1 and 2 today (video)

Looking good! Lots of calm awareness going on in your head. As you progress, you'll learn to keep your arms/hands below the plane of your chin. That will resolve the issues you're having right now. You'll find that keeping your hands "low" will make you start using other muscles in your lower back/glutes. Just arch hard, stick your d--k in the dirt, and point your toes. Oh, and keep jumping! He's leaving out another option that is used far more frequently - ignore the other person. A truly civilized society allows for that option. We are all engines of karma -
Will the Federal Assault weapon ban include .22 rifles?
StreetScooby replied to Skyrad's topic in Speakers Corner
There may not be a Federal "assault weapons" ban. Might not get through Congress. Even Harry Reid seems opposed. We are all engines of karma -
Realistically, no. It's got to come from her, and she will have to reach her own bottom before that happens. We are all engines of karma

Very informative, thanks for posting. IMO, health care is how they're going to enslave us to the state going forward. We are all engines of karma -
Excellent idea! Some new sectional maps failed to show the Ranch as a dropzone. It is interesting to see a Cessna flying down the flight line when people start opening. Very much an "Oh, Shit" moment for everyone. Have seen it happen twice now. We are all engines of karma

Obama pondering using executive decision on gun control
StreetScooby replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
How can you have a conversation with someone that can't define "assault weapon"? Can't count the number of times I've seen pictures of NY City council members holding up something like a shotgun claiming that "another assault weapon has been taken off our streets". It's shockingly ridiculous. We are all engines of karma -

It would be nice to think rational adults in charge of the conversation would table this option, but I think we're running short on rational adults in that area... We are all engines of karma

Yes, I leave them on. No particular reason that I can think of. A bit of a segue here... Way back when I jumped at Lodi, I was just getting good at swooping out of the DC-3. At the time, no one wore helmets (...why do you need that ;-). On this particular dive, I went out 15th or so, hit a good iron cross and nailed the swoop. The acceleration pushed the bottom edge of my goggles deep into my eye balls, so much that they bulged out and teared up dramatically. Thank goodness the Lodi guys taught me to swoop to the side of the formation, because I ended up shooting past it at high speed. Had a bit of explaining to do once I landed

Alabama vs Notre Dame - The BCS National Championship Game thread

I read another article that explained it. Barrett was calling out blocking assignments and not paying attention to the 30-sec clock. We are all engines of karma -
US emissions have actually gone down, due to increasing use of natural gas. If we were really serious about addressing CO2 emissions, IMO, we'd be maxing nuclear power right now. Heck, if the French can do it, so can we. We are all engines of karma

Alabama vs Notre Dame - The BCS National Championship Game thread
StreetScooby replied to BillyVance's topic in The Bonfire
The phrase that kept running through my mind last night was, resistance is futile That started about 2 minutes into the game. Stayed up and watch the whole thing. Enjoyed it, tremendously. That spat between McCarron and Jones was a bit shocking. Wonder what Saban said to them later? After the 6-3 game against LSU in 'Bama two years ago, we all said that Saban should get a field goal kicker. Well, he did. 'Bama is going to be dominant for a very long time, and I think that's a beautiful thing. It would be nicer if LSU managed that caliber, but I stopped bleeding purple a long time ago. Many kudos to Saban and 'Bama. We are all engines of karma -
