I remember one particular time in graduate school... Tried to keep up with a 250 lb Canadian (...I was 140 at the time). We were in a veterans club outside of Bethlehem, PA, playing pool against all comers. Had a very steady supply of beer all night (we were very good at pool). Got so drunk I actually started seeing "trails" (...like an LSD trip). Got home, went to throw up and my body simply took over. Not only was "it" throwing up, "it" was trying to inhale at the same time, and I was COMPLETELY out of the loop. Had absolutely no control for about 5 minutes. Literally thought I was gonna die. NYC stations are saying helicopter, so I think CNN is wrong. The NYC stations have actually spoken with NYFD, and their pictures show flames. There is a heliport right in that area, and apparently the helicopter was having difficulties. We are all engines of karma

BREAKING NEWS: Aircraft Hits NYC Building
StreetScooby replied to Sockpuppet's topic in Speakers Corner
It was a malfunctioning helicopter that hit the building. Not terrorism related. It was trying to land at a heliport nearby. We are all engines of karma -
NBC New York said the NYFD has confirmed it as a helicopter, not a plane. There's a heliport right in that general area. We are all engines of karma

Agreed. Being able to put emotions into words can be a very powerful way to deal with those emotions. Unfortunately, I'm a living epitome of alexithymia. We are all engines of karma

I have a very simple strategy that I pursue here. My children reply to me with "Yes, Sir", or "No, Sir". Similar for their mother. Likewise they will refer to all adults as Mr. or Mrs. All of my childrens' friends will refer to me using Mr. End of story. No exceptions allowed. It drives me nuts when I see adults allowing children to address them by their first name, as if they're peers. I quickly lose respect for that adult, because they are no longer in a position of authority with that child. They are now just friends. It's part of my culture to do this, and I'm proud of it. Everything else follows from that. We are all engines of karma

It's a family situation. As much as I'd like to do that, it wouldn't be appropriate. We are all engines of karma

The problem with owning something like this, IMO, is you can't take it to the grocery store or train station. Somebody is going to ding it, and it'll end up ruining your day. We are all engines of karma

kel, you might want to file a complaint against this guy. If he did that to you, he's doing that to other women, also. His supervisors need to know about this kind of behaviour. I doubt anything will come out of this one incident, but if there are others in the future, yours will be on record. A simple certified/return receipt letter will have a dramatic impact.
