So you approve of the over 3000 people being laid off. Glad you like that. You'll have to get very used to it. I understand the absolute desperation that you and and the rest of the far-right must be feeling Once the majority of the public gets a taste for higher quality and lower priced healthcare, there's no way they will ever be going back. Tick tock tick tock... You don't seem to understand that it will not cost less. It will only be less expensive for a very few. Some won't have to pay anything. The VAST Majority will see major increases. If it were really about 30 million that are uninsured in this country, then the 871 Billion they took from medicare would have given each one of those people 29 thousand dollars. We spend more than double on healthcare than the rest of the western world and we have the worst results. While Obama care is not perfect ( what piece of legislation this size would be) its nice to see something being done. This is the same plan that the right was for until Obama proposed it. If you consider Obamacare getting 'something done' by the president and this being his only accomplishment, then his tenure as president will go down as the worst president in the history of the united states. Congratulations on supporting that.

I've had my fair share of guard duty in the army. In order to have effective shifts the rotation needs to be in the 3-4 hour range to get some fresh eyes on the perimeter. -
75 students to be expelled from school for gang affiliation
regulator replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
SPRING, Texas -- Claiming that upwards of 75 students face expulsion from Spring High School for alleged gang affiliations after the fatal stabbing of a student on campus earlier this month, activist Quanell X plans to represent those parents at disciplinary hearings later this week. Spring sophomore Ladaydrick Heard, 16, is one of those students. His parents said they received a telephone call from the school last Friday that he was being expelled based on the belief that he was involved in gangs. He was a close friend of slain student Joshua Broussard and admits that he tried to help carry his friend’s lifeless body toward medical help the morning of the stabbing, but says he does not have any gang affiliations. "I wasn't in a gang yesterday. I'm not in a gang today, and I won't be in a gang tomorrow,” Heard said. “They said they have proof that he was in a gang because of social media and pictures and stuff, but they didn't show us none of that,” said the student’s father Esko Shephard. "Never been in trouble and then kicking them out of school saying they're gang members,” Quanell X said. Quanell X intends to ask school administrators what's their standard. Spring ISD confirms 26 students, not 75, have been placed in a “disciplinary alternative education program,” but that not all of the Student Code of Conduct violations are related to gang affiliations or the September 4 fatal stabbing at the school. A school district spokesperson would not clarify how many of the disciplinary hearings are related to the stabbing or how the alleged gang affiliations were being determined, but the spokesperson said every student and parent has the right to due process and is allowed to file an appeal. Heard was scheduled to have his disciplinary hearing Wednesday morning and arrived at Spring High School with his parents and Quanell X. They were told school district attorneys were unable to attend and that the hearing would be postponed until Friday. Quanell X said he will accompany at least 10 students and their parents to those hearings on Friday. -------------------------------------------------------- http://www.khou.com/news/local/Students-expelled-after-Spring-HS-stabbing-parents-upset-224313241.html ------------------------------------------------------------ Naturally Q-tip is holding a protest rally to blow a large amount of hot air, provide no solutions, but will freely take money from any parents that want to throw money his way for more bullshit ass protests. -

"preppers" ... nutter survivalists or common sense??
regulator replied to rhaig's topic in Speakers Corner
I agree completely. Also its good to have redundancy on some of your items to use for barter for other goods with people that you come in contact with. My family has a large spread of land in a remote area. I have been investigating different plant life that is fairly hearty and can grow with little intervention. I've always like almonds and I have planted a few trees out there which as of the last check around 6 weeks ago they were starting to produce. I have several close friends with the same mindset and all of us are proficient with firearms, security, and survival but its always good to learn new skills that add to your skillset when you run into a SHTF scenerio. -
"preppers" ... nutter survivalists or common sense??

Remind me of that the next time there is a Katrina type event in your neighborhood. To many people seriously believe in the stability of the systems they use daily. Ask your self how would I cope without water or electricity for 5 days. If you're answer involves relying on anyone but yourself, you should see that as a problem and address it. Or don't. I'll be ok either way. Actually I took your advice here, I did go away and seriously look at the infrastructure for food, fuel and security. What I found was alarming to say the least. So I now have those areas covered. Having seen how quickly society broke down during the last lot of riots across England (which happened just seven months after your post) when (not if) the next ones come along I'll be better prepared to look after my family and community. -------------------------------------------- You should look at the katrina hurricaine as well. Very little law and order. Police confiscating weapons. People shooting at helicopters coming to give them aid. You name it it probably happened. I know a lady in my grandmothers neighborhood. She took in two katrina evacuees and within two days they killed her and stole her car. They were caught in another state driving that poor lady's stolen car. Both of them are now in prison for life. -

I don't have a bunker or anything crazy but I do have a packed bugout bag prepared at all times with enough mountain house dehydrated food for a few weeks. I live in a hurricaine zone and I my family has been flooded out many many times. One of the most strange things you see in a flood is a antpile. If you see a blob of something black stay the fuck away from it. Ants pile on top of each other and float on the water. If just a hair of your body comes in contact with the pile you are gonna get tore up fast. Having a katadyn pocket water filter with lots of firemaking tools helps. -
Is that what you would do if you had a family in your house too? Run for the back door and let them handle themselves? Someday you might change your mind and want the right to defend yourself and your family instead of run like a little pansy. Hopefully by then, people like you haven't stripped us from that right. Maybe the problem is you consider avoiding violent conflict 'running like a pansy' and I consider it smart shit to do. We are coming from two different starting points. -------------------------------- you'll think it's 'smart shit' until you get shot in the back running away screaming.

Negative. Get someone to drill a 9mm hole on your head. Then you can speak from experience. Let's have a duel at 20 paces. Me armed with a S&W 1911 .45. You armed with a drill of your choosing. Neither one of them are dangerous by themselves as neither can jump off a table and cause you harm. However, from close range, both are capable of inflicting similar wounds. So we agree. They are substitute goods. Will you now please turn your guns over? You can have all the cordless drills you want. I hope the range you normally go to practice at is really really short. You should make haste to your nearest ghetto and ask all the drug dealers to hand their weapons over to you. Let me know how that works out for you.

Let me see you say that in the middle of a car jacking with a gun to your head. You see his finger tightening on the trigger and you have a gun in your hand . . . ----------------------------------------------- He won't have a gun. A banana? Highly possible.

----------------------------------------- Ok I just googled the cove. I think killing of dolphins or whales should be outlawed. Sometimes I like taking my boat out the jetties just to see the dolphins swim around my boat. I think they are truly amazing animals. I call them the ambassadors of the sea. I plan on my next vacation being somewhere in florida...probably the keys...if I'm lucky a place like Hawks Cay where I can swim with the dolphins. Seriously if I could have a place right on the water where I could have a pet like flipper I would totally do it. Dolphins are amazing.

------------------------------------------------------ I'm not familiar with what you are referring to...the cove or the other. Do you have a link you can provide please?

The Afghan interpreter credited with saving an Army intelligence officer only to become a target of the Taliban, has been granted a visa and could come to the United States as soon as next month. Janis Shinwari, whose cause was embraced by Medal of Honor winner and U.S. Marine Dakota Meyer, along with more than 100,000 people who signed a petition at Change.org, saved Army Officer Matt Zeller in a 2008 firefight with insurgents, according to Zeller. The grateful Zeller has been aggressively lobbying for a visa for Shinwari for nearly two years, since Shinwari, 35, began getting death threats. On Monday, the pair spoke by phone after learning the State Department had finally processed the paperwork. "Janis gave me the news a short while ago via Facebook chat -- and then I called him," Zeller told FoxNews.com. "It was very emotional. I don't think I've ever heard him that happy. He started telling me about how excited he is and that he expects to have flights and housing arranged by IOM (the organization that handles that aspect of it) within 30-40 days. "We started talking about how our kids (I have a daughter about the same age as his youngest) will grow up together and be friends," Zeller added. "I still can't quite wrap my head around the fact that in a few weeks I'll be able to talk to him in person Shinwari applied to move to the U.S. in 2011 under a special immigration program begun in 2009 for people who helped U.S. forces in Afghanistan and Iraq. The program, designated to help interpreters and other allies from the Iraq war, expires at the end of this month absent an extension. The Afghan version would go away in September 2014 without a new law. Zeller started the campaign on Change.org recently, drawing not only thousands of signatures, but hundreds of emphatic posts, as well. "Mr. Shinwari risked his life to save the lives of Americans," wrote one signer, Harlee Cohn-Mahmet, of Plantation, Fla. "Now it IS OUR DUTY to save his life as well! Issue his visa as well as visas for all the others who risked their lives to save ours!!!! Please! Do it now!" Veterans believe thousands of applications for the visas are stuck in bureaucratic limbo, without advocates as fierce as Zeller. The former Army soldier said helping those who risked their lives to help U.S. forces is a matter of conscience. "Janis saved my life in Afghanistan," Zeller wrote. "When I heard he was also at risk, I had to do something. I’m so relieved that the U.S. Embassy in Kabul and the U.S. State Department got our message and that so many people across the country joined me in standing with Janis. “We've saved Janis' world and for that I will be forever in your debt," he said. "You have my and Janis' unending thanks.” http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/09/09/afghan-interpreter-who-saved-us-soldier-gets-long-awaited-visa/
