Jeff Skilling, the brilliant business mind that brought you Enron's "innovative" accounting practices was a top Harvard MBA grad. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."

2:7:0 Lots of good jumps. Started experimenting with Daffy a bit. I've been working on HD proximity and had a couple where we were able to hold about 10 feet off each other straight down the pipe. It's nice when you feel like all that work is starting to pay off. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."

It was both funny and disturbing at the same time... which is the hallmark of good satire. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."

I'm kinda in between. I don't mind someone giving me a pin check, since I jump a Vector III and it's really hard to screw up closing the flaps. People have asked me to pin check their Racers and I always hate it because the flaps close funky. A couple times I've asked others to double-check my close job on them cuz I didn't feel comfortable that I had done it right. Now reserve flap is another story. I really don't like people messing with it on the plane because the flaps close funky. If it's another Vector/Mirage flier I'm not as concerned. About a week ago, someone had their pin pop on a rig (couldn't tell what kind). We had to let the pilot know that a rig was open and the person had to lie down, with another guy taking a pullup cord and re-closing it the rest of the ride up. Got it finished by jump run. Whew! You might be able to get it patched for not too terribly much. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."

I totally understand where you're coming from. I think what is said in the chat room should stay between us. But a couple things to consider.... First, you don't need to be an op to record a log of a chat. Any chat software, such as MIRC, has a logging capability. So anyone with such software could have recorded the transcript. So it wasn't necessarily a channel op, just anyone who was there the whole time.... and no it wasn't me. Now as far as distribution goes, I could totally see a scenario where someone couldn't make it to the chat, but wanted to read what went on and asked for a copy of the logs. I started thinking of a party analogy... what if someone couldn't make it to a party and asked a friend who was there to tell him what went on. I think all of us would agree that that would be no big deal. So if we view the chat logs that way, I don't think it would concern us. But then I got to thinking, are the logs really like that? Or are they more like someone hiding a camera at a party and playing the tape for people that weren't there? In that instance I can see why people would be *very* upset. They were being recorded surrepticiously... and I can see that as a definite violation of trust. I guess since I know chats can be logged, I'm not terribly concerned if it was just somebody sending a room regular a log so they could see what happened. Anything beyond that and I think you run the risk of these things getting all over the internet. And I don't think that's a very Good Thing (tm). Just a few random thoughts. Here's a link to Jon DeVore's tunnel camp info. Bottom line $2500 and about 3 hours tunnel time and a day of jumping at Deland. By my math, if you assume approixmately a 53 second freefall per FF skydive, that comes out to $3681 to get the same amount of freefall time as you'd get in those 3 hours in the tunnel. Now imagine all those skydives as coached jumps. So even though it seems steep, it's all coached freefall time. Wasn't able to find anything on any Flyboyz tunnel camps. First off, congrats Jess! Glad you got over the confidence hump! I know the Flboyz have them occasionally and I believe Alaska Jon also does one. Both are at SkyVenture I believe. I would love to do a FF tunnel camp to work out my fallrate & proximity issues in HD. I can fall fast, but have a hell of a time falling slow, so I drop out on sitfliers all the time. I did the tunnel when I was a student and it helped immensely. I'm sure if I dedicated an hour of tunnel time to my freeflying it would make a huge difference. The only thing I'm not too sure on is whether even the SkyVenture tunnel can support freefly speeds. If they can crank it up to 140-160 MPH then yeah it would be do-able. In fact, it seems like it would be good training to have them vary the speeds up & down and make you hold your position. You'd really learn to react quickly to other people's fallrate changes & still maintain proximity. Naturally freeflying with someone in the tunnel would be a boon as well. Work on docks, over-unders, etc. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."

Yup. Good stuff. Thanks for the posts Derek! "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."

I like doing front riser hooks so yeah I'll prolly eventually own a X-brace. Not in any hurry to get one though. I've still got quite a few swoops left in my Jedei 136. I'll prolly get a Samurai 120 next and then maybe start considering an FX in the 110 range. But we're talking several hundred jumps down the road before I get there. Just to follow up... I jumped the canopy on Friday. Almost had to cut the dang thing away. Toss and not much happens. Look up to see the nastiest ball of s#!7 I've ever seen above me and already in about 5 line twists. Just as I'm reaching for my handles the thing decides to open and I decided I could work the twists since the canopy was flying pretty stable. When I laid it down to pack it, I looked it over. No mildew, but it smelled kinda musty. The smell had pretty much gone away by the end of the today. My guess is the nasty opening (and the smell) was probably due to packing it wet and letting it sit a week & a half. This is another item on my "Note to self" list. Are higher quality versions going to be coming out fairly soon (like in the next year)? "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."

Good job Ann! Yeah that closing scene is funny as hell! Who is that taking out the FF 4-way near the end? "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."

I'm working the issue. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."

Just saw the new Sony MicroMV camera. The thing is tiny! They say quality is comparable to mini-DV, but I'm just wondering if any camera fliers have looked into it. Is this going to replace the PC-100/110 on camera flier helmets? "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."

Yup. Gonna try & get out for a jump or two today as well. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."

Just out of curiosity, what's the general consensus on mildew/mold on a main (or reserve)? Is it something that can be cleaned off relatively easily if caught early? The reason I ask is that two weekends ago my last jump was a rain jump (yes we were under the clouds). I figured I was going to get a jump in way before now, so I packed it, but I kind of got to wondering if my main would get mildew by now, and if so, is it something that can be cleaned off relatively easily. Is there anything on them to eat? They're all shell & legs. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."

Got into this one a little late... * I don't do entrails or anything on/in the head. * On the veggie front, no likee the beets, asparagus or squash. Other than that, I'll eat just about anything. I loooooove spicy food! I've only been to two restaurants in my life where the stuff was so hot I couldn't finish it ... a Thai place and a Tibetan place ... and wherever I go I tell 'em to make it as hot as they can. Tabasco is nothing. There's this hot Vietnamese chili sauce I get that's *way* better. I use it as ketchup on my french fries, squirt it in my mashed potatoes, etc. etc. Jalapenos are no big deal. I eat 'em like pickles all the time. Habaneros are good (never had the gajones to eat 'em raw though ), but my absolute favorite pepper is the chipotle. Not as hot as Habaneros, but I really like the nice smoky/spicy flavor they add. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."

Aw man I love all kinds of food.... Thai, Greek, Mexican, TexMex, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, BBQ, Cajun/Creole ... you name it. I don't think I could decide on a favorite restaurant, let alone a favorite food. Pico's in Houston is way up there, as is a little Thai place called Patu. Jedei 136 loaded around 1.3 - 1.4, depending upon how well my diet is going. 235 jumps. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."

What's interesting is that they are hesitant to blame it on global warming. Although that part of Antarctica has seen a warming trend, another part has seen a cooling trend. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."
