  1. 2:6:0 Lots of jumps, unfortunately, I had a bit of an off-week performance-wise. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."
  2. The errors and discrepancies aren't implied. They're real. If you want an exhaustive rundown of all of the innacuracies and inconsistencies of the Old & New Testaments, read Thomas Paine's "The Age of Reason". He goes into excrutiating detail, and I have yet to read a decent rebuttal of his analysis. FYI, Paine believed in a God, just not the God outlined in the Christian bible. 3. Hell. There was a time when you could drive something like 6 hours and still be on the same ranch. King Ranch to be exact. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."
  4. That's right folks! We haven't really had much CRW activity, but that's starting to change. Our own Jumperpaula was part of the first 4-stack built over Skydive Spaceland yesterday. My rig was also part of the stack. Unfortunately I wasn't in it at the time. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."
  5. I fly an airlocked canopy (Jedei 136) and love it. Get great swoops and nice surfs. I've always felt like I have total control over the canopy, even on hard front riser turns. They are a bitch to gather up on windy days though. But I like the fact that I've always felt rock solid under the thing, even on gusty days when everybody else's canopies were moving in & out like and accordian at a polka dance. People on the ground watching even notice a difference, so it's not just me. I like the Cobalt a lot as well. I've been recommending it to people trying to move into ellipticals, because I think it provides a good mix of performance, nice openings and forgiveness. But having flown a Brian Germain canopy, I've fallen in love with them. So my next one will prolly be a Samurai (or another Jedei). 6. ... is that once you go back to jumping with your friends, you suck again. I had four killer coach jumps with Max Cohn last weekend. Actually got to thinking that I was starting to get the hang of things. Then I went back to my regular routine with my friends. God I suck. It's amazing how someone with 5000+ jumps can make you look good. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."

Yeah well, I don't really surf much besides here (other than clearly work-related stuff). So they're gonna see a huge drop in web activity from me. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."

Hehehe. Do tell. Actually, in addition to any loopholes (obviously), I'm really interested in how it works from a technical perspective. What was weird was that I was hitting the boards fairly heavy at that moment and then the block came up. Does the software monitor hits to a given site, and/or activity by a user and then try and make a decision as to whether it's something to be blocked? Or does it go strictly by a database, sort of like antivirus software? I guess I'm just trying to figure out if they had just installed the stuff and I was blocked when the flipped the switch or if the software had likely been "watching" me and my activity for a while and made a decision that I had exceeded some sort of allotment. That and I'm trying to figure out how much hot water I'm likely in. Bloos! ------------ Zennie "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."

Welp. It had to happen sooner or later. I'm hitting the boards in-between things I'm working on when out of the blue, I get a "Web Sense" screen telling me this is an "Entertainment" site and that I could use quota time to view it. So it appears that work has added some net screening software to the firewall and I musta used up all my good net Karma. Dunno if my boss will find out. Man that would suck, being a newbie & already getting in trouble for excessive surfage. In any event, looks like I won't be hitting dz.com during the day anymore. I'll still come in in the evenings and check things out. But from now on, I'll be doing what I'm doing now, post from home. To all the rest of you... Big Brother is watching. 10. Hehehehe. I'll let you know when/if I fill mine up. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."
  11. Exactly. You're bounce-proofing the whole logbook. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."
  12. Very nice! Who made it? "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."
  13. You have someone pre-sign the last jump entry in the book *before* you start filling it up. That way you *gotta* make it to that jump. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."
  14. Just to play Bytch's Advocate for a moment .... I don't think she's necessarily being arrogant. I think it's more of a "been there, seen that" sort of thing. She's been around this sport for a long time... longer than most of us here. And I'm sure she's seen more nasty stuff than many of us would care to in our skydiving careers. I'm sure a lot of it is the same sort of thing "Those guys were just being dumb. I'm smarter than that." Next thing you know you're being LifeFlight'ed away. So it's not an "I'm better/more careful than you" thing, it's an "I've seen this part of the play before, and I don't want any of you getting hurt" thing. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."
  15. Mine's been bounce-proofed. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."
  16. Anyone ever jumped a Piglet? My rigger's got one and said he'd let me jump it. I've always wanted to jump a round. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."
  17. Not to start another debate, but if I hit the ground and don't have all my handles pulled, somebody kick my corpse please. But the question is interesting from another perspective. Assuming no RSL, how fast (in terms of feet) can you do a pull-pull and get a reserve over your head? In other words, at what altitude should you not cut away your messed up main and go straight for the reserve, taking your chances with an entanglement or downplane? Somebody mentioned 1000 feet, but I think you can chop a main and get a reserve out in that space fairly easily. 500 feet? 20. Thank God for ValentineOne! You know why the speed limit was reduced don't you? Why it's gonna solve all our smog problems! Here all this time I thought it was all those refineries in Pasadena and it turns out it's just me driving too fast and the lawn people cutting grass. How silly of me. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."
  21. Yee haw! "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."
  22. I'll prolly be out there after lunch. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."
  23. I took it to Bill and we played around with fit a bit. Leg straps were about 2" too long, which makes sense since the guy who owned it previously is about 2" taller than me. His basic take was that the rig sat a little low, but not too terrible. So he wants me to do a few jumps where I crank down the chest strap until the main lift web runs straight down my torso (which we were able to do in the loft). If the rig still slips he'll shorten the leg harness but he at least wanted my to try the chest strap "fix" first. I'll prolly skip out early tomorrow and come out. Why couldn't this weekend's weather have been last weekend? "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."

    Road Rage

40% You are a Softy You are either really wet, or the personification of self-control. You won't complain in a restaurant when you food turns up 30 minutes late, if someone cuts you up, you can rise above it and continue on your way. This means you are in the safe category, and unlikely to experience road rage, but maybe you do need to get a bit more of a backbone. Stand up for your self, don't let people push in front of you in the queue, don't let kids throw things at you, and don't let people under cut you. No one likes a doormat. If you have no dents in your car when you return home, go out and get some, your car is an extension of your inner soul. Be Wreckless!
