Lately I subscribe to what I call the theory of random probability, Meaning that most events in a persons life are coincidental and totally unrelated, I say this because generally unless your mood directly affects the people creatures or things around you by way of your actions, you have no effect on their behavior as they relate to you. Some people seem to draw more "bad luck" than others but if you look at their lives closely I think their actions and not their mood changes the chain of events that happen around them and puts them in unfavorable circumstances. and yes, I am a blathering existentialist. >>depending on area, you might get all that for $75/ month yeah, I was thinking along the lines of cable lite, and VoIP like Vonage, Some companies like Comcast have package deals for all three;internet phone and cable at $30 plus each but then there's the contract loop holes and expense to deal with. Right now I have regular dial up -which of course..sucks, and phone ... I might as well be using a can on a string, my middle finger and a smoke signal to communicate. No DSL but I do have cable- time to future up. Who has any experience with Vonage or the like? Beware of the collateralizing and monetization of your desires. D S #3.1415 -

NOICE, I'll have to check out Orange some day-you guys are awesome too, glad the place is salvagable. Ole and especially Jess probably don't want me near a nail gun up there anyway given my klutzy history. See ya. Beware of the collateralizing and monetization of your desires. D S #3.1415 -
Parenthetically, what do you mean? With all this talk about food when you gonna invite us all over for lunch.....(and not be a cheap bugger about it!) Beware of the collateralizing and monetization of your desires. D S #3.1415

>>Why focus only on JR when there is so many opportunities to encourage healthy and tasty eating in lieu of listening to the same repetitive ranting by people on their pet subjects? Good God man, is there even a freekin cookbook large enough to cover your rants? Beware of the collateralizing and monetization of your desires. D S #3.1415

>>let's just not plan our futur on things that are still highly experimental. I agree that's a risky way to plan, but sometimes it pays to place a tough goal ahead in order to foster progress in that direction. What I think needs to happen is a greater investment in the scientific research which can lead to more breakthroughs in energy production, storage and distribution. We're getting there, I think that by the time the petroleum situation becomes really dire, a network of working alternatives will be in place. The police handled the situation by killing the rogue officer with a carefully placed sniper shot. One of their own went berserk (which sometimes happens no matter the background check due to the laws of probability) and the police rose to the call of duty and properly neutralized the threat. >>it still takes energy to make cellulosic ethanol. True- surprisingly we have not yet been able to defy the laws of thermodynamics. >>and let's not make any assumptions about a technology that does't commercially exist yet. So by your logic it does not yet pay to even bother to explore the alternatives. But isn't it curious that OIL companies such as BP, and Chevron are investing in alternative energy technologies, Are they doing it for PR?, I don't think so, they are doing it because they are expert in the fact that petroleum is a finite resource and they they know it will be prohibitively expensive to continue to produce in the near future. >>Nitrogen makes up 78% of our atmosphere. Cheers, There are also a wide variety of nitrogen fixing agricultural plants on which we and most of our cow eating populations feed such as soybeans. Speaking of cows, the methane they produce is significantly more effective as a greenhouse gas, but this too can be sequestered. Beware of the collateralizing and monetization of your desires. Question to skydivers from Joe Jennings
Misternatural replied to JoeJ's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Joe, Big Good Stuff fan...You and your crew going up to Baffin again? That dvd gets a lot of play around here as I use it to draw people to the sport - though i try not to show the youngsters too much of the stunt footage (you being hit by a "car" for example)- thats a tad unsettling for most noobs. Like them I was drawn to the idea of gravity powered air conditioning, just the death defying thought of it. At the end of the day I get a rush of accomplishment in that there are skill goals to reach- this sport has endless possibilities and like guitar playing, there is always another layer of achievement to be reached. It gives me a shot of courage when faced with adversity as in; "Well, if I can jump out of a plane, I can handle this.." Personality changes?, dunno, but I do make more careful decisions because skydiving to me has a lot to do with making good choices... quickly. Freefall will blast the doors off of your reality like a trip to see the wizard of Oz without all the tornado damage. I'll see if i can dig up a picture...keep up the good footage. There is absolutely the potential to mis-manage and abuse ANY technology. Wisdom and intelligent decision making has to be applied to insure that the bio fuel movement proceed in a sustainable manner. This includes the use of agricultural, forest, and wilderness areas to produce fuel raw material. What is most worrisome is the switch from food crops to fuel crops- Imagine the use of pesticides, herbicides and GMOs for NON food crops. It's good that people are aware of this danger and are concerned about it, However, the biofuel movement can take hold and eventually be a substantial replacement for fossil fuels. If Govt. scientist, producers, and consumers proceed responsibly the biofuel movement will take humanity in a more sustainable and sane direction. For those people that don't care about the environment- consider a lower fuel bill. We as skydivers should be especially excited about the new diesel engines and jets for aircraft which may be able to burn biodiesel. Imagine a DZ that smells like popcorn instead of petro exhaust. Funk, whazzup buddy. having an existential quandary? I'll tell you what I think God does for fun... set up impossible paradoxical situations like: The psychological differences and relationships between men and women. Give humans the knowledge but not the wisdom to develop and implement potentially devastating technologies. Offer cryptic information about "he" "she" or "it's" existence. and allow divergent belief systems to propagate. Develop a fossil record with "missing links". Allow humans to achieve profound rational thought processes while retaining basic animal behavioral instincts like fucking and fighting. Allow the human brain to experience irresistible pleasures then later have them declared as "sins". Allow humans to communicate but not to understand each other. If there is such a being- That's a being with fucked up sense of humor if you ask me. Beware of the collateralizing and monetization of your desires. D S #3.1415

>>So you wouldn't be OK with a chick shoving up your ass a load of small plastic balls connected by a nylon filament an slowly pulling them out whilst she's giving you a hand or blow job Would that be called a rip chord? or does a rip chord require a handle which gets pulled at the right time like you're starting a lawnmower?
