  1. Tough to go through for sure, wish you strength in the days to come. Do want to clarify that I am speaking of the process where a patient of sound mind requests euthanasia, I am not discussing, nor advocating for a process where people request this for incapacitated patients.
  2. What mistakes? There are countries where euthanasia is legal. Can you point to any case where there has been a mistaken euthanisation?
  3. I explained prior how this is a false equivalency.
  4. That has nothing to do with legalized and regulated assisted suicide.
  5. The twitter account wasn't posting people on the jet. Was simply posting movement of the jet through publicly available data which the Supreme Court has previously ruled to be protected by the first amendment.
  6. Yes. "I thought he wanted to die" hasn't been one of them.
  7. A permanent solution being imposed against one's will and having the ability to have a permanent solution available if one choses to pursue are nowhere near equivalent.
  8. I don't see where reposting publicly available first amendment protected information is against the rules?
  9. Absolutely it should be a concern. However, I don't believe we should put the potential suffering of those who can choose to do something else over the actual suffering of those who do not have a choice. That would be morally wrong in my opinion.
  10. There are already established procedures for this. Though my understanding is that in most jurisdictions assisted suicide can only be requested by the patient themselves. After that the Power of Attorney, based on the wishes of the patient, can decide to kill the patient through starvation, dehydration or withholding required medication. Somehow we are much more at ease with ourselves when our loved ones get to suffer at the end.
  11. I am aware of the high suicide rate amongst veterinary providers and the struggles they face. I am not aware of any study that has linked that suicide rate to the act of ending an animal's suffering. My, admittedly anecdotally based, opinion is that it relates much more to the stress of dealing with humans and how those humans treat animals. In other words, I am not sure how valid the comparison you are trying to me is.
  12. Because for me there has to be an evaluation of why somebody wants to end their life. We do have to protect people from themselves to some degree.
  13. Doctor approved, seconded by an independent doctor. Irreparable deterioration of quality of life.
  14. We tend to treat our animals better than our elders. I am a strong proponent of Assisted Suicide.
  15. Here is a list of school shootings since then. Look at the dates and intervals between dates. School shootings are a growing problem since Sandy Hook, happening more frequently. Sad state of affairs.
  16. When Nancy Pelosi took office the Down Jones was at 2,288.23 today it is 33,476.46. She really screwed that up!
  17. Why, is she not free now? Could you have made it more clear that to you "freedom" means that people are free to do exactly what you want them to do, but nothing else.
  18. If you are supposed to be dead but in stead lose two toes, did you win or did you lose?
  19. If anything that would have been my other grandfather who was a Colonel stationed out of London.
  20. Great picture! Let me add my grandfathers: My Grandfather was a captain on the B25 Mitchell during WWII. After getting his license at Jackson, MS where the Royal Military Flying School was located at the time, he was part of a group who ferried B-25s to Batchelor, Australia from which he flew missions with the 18sq. NEI aka The Forgotten Squadron. He had to crash land one of his planes, The Mississippi Dream. That plane has fairly recently been recovered by Reevers Warbirds in Australia and they are using parts to try and make another B-25 airworthy again. I am very happy I have been able to get various parts of that plane from them for myself and for my children. You can read about the recovery efforts here: https://warbirdsnews.com/warbird-restorations/reevers-rescues-a-combat-veteran-b-25d-downunder.html One of the pictures on that link shows the radio call placard, which Reevers kindly donated to my father. Sorry to derail the thread, but I joined Joe in his nostalgia, though not as alcohol induced.
  21. Meh, when I am wrong I like to learn. Harder to do when you have already decided you are smarter than the other person I guess. We are indeed a weak defence partner on spending and total capability. We have some strengths. I would be all in favour for Canada spending much more, much much more. I also don't think we should see the US as a defence partner and more as a threat. Your democracy is seriously in decline. As a side note there is a Ukrainian made rifle in the top 6.
  22. You mean the CA15 LRSW that is built by McMillan Firearms located in Phoenix? (CA is in Utah) You might be fun, but not factual.
  23. It was an historically bad performance by a party not holding the presidency at mid-terms. But then celebrating sub-par performance is a bit of a Republican trait.
