  1. Why not, Capitalism and in a way America is based on just that principle.
  2. I didn't say you did, that is why I used the word "if". if you look, you'll even see the post is pretty general in tone...aimed at more than just you.
  3. I think it is extremely bad journalism and quite frankly despicable. However, if you think it isn't happening on all sides of this war (including the US) than you are being naive.
  4. Obviously it wasn't psycho-babble since you agreed with a big portion of it. Unless off course you make a habit of believing a psycho-babble? It does show that even though you may not agree with a persons actions, sometimes it is worth while to listen to them. If Castro develops a vaccine against every form of cancer, should we just dismiss it because of his previous actions?
  5. you are still not getting it.....nobody was saying you would kill thousands. What was being said was that your debating technique is awefully similar to those used by the communist cubans. Any other viewpoint is immediately dismissed as being stupid. It doesn't help any argument on either side. Hope you get it now.
  6. Communist cubans: We are right and you are wrong. Steel: I am right and you are wrong. What exactly is the difference?
  7. People are responsible for their own actions. In thi case blaming the lawyers is the easy way out. Blame the family members who decided to sue. If you decide to blame the lawyers, then some blame has to go to the DZO in these cases as well. They advertise how wonderfula tandem is. What a great sensation. How safe their dropzone has been and how their dropzone is a better choice than others etc etc. I agree that lawyers who hound for these lawsuits are scum. But, and it is a big but, if you believe in personal responsibility, then the lawyers aren't to blame....
  8. A couple of years ago I wouldn't have argued with you on that point. Now, with a conservative minority government in place, I would argue about the word significant. Are we more left leaning than the US: no doubt, but certainly not as far as it used to be. That still does not make us a socialist country though, which was my original point.
  9. The system does suck and we see more and more changes in it. That still does not make a country socialist. The US welfare system is a distinct socialist system. However, that does not make the US a socialist country.
  10. I don't think the US has any leg to stand on when it comes to Human Rights. Canada is far from a socialist country, you may want to check up on your definitions again.
  11. You are obviously knowledgable on the subject, but your extreme bias and tendency to call anybody who shows the other side of the story an idiot makes it very difficult to take you seriously...
  12. I wasn't speaking of the letter....I was speaking about one of the posters to this thread.
  13. I didn't realize Persians could not be muslim.....
  14. Taxes on oil and gas are generally in % form. Hence the giant rises in oil and gas costs has translated in some giant increases in tax revenues.
  15. I think they said they would prefer to see life in prison in Iraq over the death sentence. On a side note, when was the last military execution in the US?
  16. I am not disputing that. But why would they spend a lifetime in Levinworth, I thought you were convinced they were going to be executed? I am pretty sure that life in an Iraqi prison is slightly more scary than life in Levinworth....
  17. Noice..... I took it as a personal account of somebody who has actually been to Cuba and who doesn't have this enormous personal bias. How many times have you been to Cuba, Mr. Expert?
  18. Is there any indication what effect the added income on Oil and Gas had on these numbers? Do you know for a fact this increase can only be attributed to tax decreases?
  19. Just like evidence in police matters, there is a very distinct and well established chain of events. It will now be up to Landis to prove that chain was not adhered to in his case.
  20. Is this an indefinite hold? You are telling me that a lone indepent senator can bring the administration to halt, indefinitely? I seriously doubt that.....which means that my original point stands. He could ahve done great thhing with a majority backing him in both houses....to me it looks like he has done little to nothing with that opportunity...
  21. I am sorry, but my understanding was that the Republicans had a distinct majority and really should be able to push anything through. Why would your president be worried about what the Dems are crying about? For once a president in your country had the opportunity to do something great since he had almost carte blanche... I tried that with my ex-wife. hey honey, I know I got a $10,000 raise, but that really doesn't mean we can afford your $25,000 spending increase....
