SkyDekker replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
Seems like Obama is a lot like Bush....arent a lot of his records sealed too? -
My point exactly.

Forcing businesses to provide for illegal workers
SkyDekker replied to AggieDave's topic in Speakers Corner
They did indirectly by not dealing with the nuisance on their property. As with everything, if you leave it long enough, somebody will find a way to legislate it. -
Forcing businesses to provide for illegal workers

I don't see the problem? Companies are being forced to clean up a nuisance they have so far ignored and refused to clean up. -
That would be Asperger's Syndrome, retard.

I don't get all these silly rules. Either it works out or it doesn't work out. I wouldn't stop dating a woman because we didn't have sex. I would stop dating a woman if she told me she had rules associated with sex and dating.

Barack admits he doesn't know what he's doing
SkyDekker replied to airdvr's topic in Speakers Corner
For president....pretty decent. Look at Bush, he ran every corporation he was ever involved with into the groud, and the US elected him president. -
No.

Not quite true. If you look at the rate per capita for gun related deaths in countries like Finland and Zwtiserland, you will notice that theirs is relatively high as well. Not as high as the US, but high compared to other countries as well. In both those countries the rate of gun ownership is high as well. I understand this issue isn't as simple as just looking at guns. The issue just is far more complicated than that. However in general it stands that when within a country the rate of gun ownership is high, the rate of gun related deaths is high as well. To the rest of the respondents. I didn't state the reverse, I didn't state that if you remove legal guns from the population that crime rates would go down (though gun related deaths would likely go down). As a matter of fact, I didn't talk about crime rates at all, just gun related deaths.

My original statement was poorly worded, but further explained in a subsequent post. Gun related deaths in the US are higher than most if not all other western countries.

Eaxctly!!!!!!! So, if we want to reduce obesity, obviously we need to dramatically increase the amount of ice cream and fatty foods available

What amazes me is that when a US soldier tries to get out of serving, many people on these boards say that the soldiers should live up the the contract he/she signed. Which I fully agree with. Many of the same posters who tend to be very vocal in those threads, now say that the US doesn't have to live up to agreements/contracts it signed.
-
This case has absolutely nothing to do about national sovereignty. It simply has to do with the US living up to agreements they signed. Really no different from anybody living up to following an agreement they signed.
-
If you say so JR. There are few western civilizations with as many gun related deaths as the US.
-
He could, which in my opinion would lead to reform. Still, in my opinion, would not make a good case to shoot somebody. As to my earlier statement about more guns leading to more deaths. Just look at guns in circulation and gun deaths and compare the US to other Western countries. I'll say again that I could care less about the gun debate in the US. For all I care you let 6 year old kids walk around with guns, it simply just doesn't affect me in any way. I am however happy that I live in a country where a majority of people do not feel the constant desire to be armed, nor display some of the desire to kill and bloodlust as many do on these forums. I agree that in this case, a gun could have made for a better outcome. That it possibly could have saved the victim. However, it also could have ended with bystanders, fellow travellers getting killed. I know that pretty much all gun owners on this site claim to be outstanding marksmen, have trained estensively in killing people in close chaotic quarters etc, but I don't think that is true for the average gun owner out there. In the end, this is an exceptionally rare case. I don't feel the need to arm myself for something that is extremely rare, the same way I don't stay indoors because on very rare occasions fish fall from the sky.
-
Don't need other examples. I know you like your guns. fact remains that the more guns are in circulation the more people get killed by them. In the case in Canada, one guy is dead, one guy is aprehended. In my mind one dead guy is better then two dead guys. But then I tend not to have the bloodlust you just displayed. I still believe in judge and jury and innocent until proven guilty, you tend to believe in summary execution.
-
Yup and with a gun around in that case at least 2 people would have been dead. You are right, that is a much better tally isn't it.....

I have had verious versions of the blackberry for at least 6 years now. Don't have much experience with other PDA or smart phones, but have never had a reason to try either.....I like my blackberry.

How do you know nobody tried? Because you read one news report? typical.

Marc, why don't you answer nerdgirl's questions?

Which really means that no one under the age of 18 could do any modelling, or acting work or anything like that. The world is full with exploited kid and teen stars, why only limit it to models who posed for artistic nude photos?
-
Funny thing is, you have an all-powerful government that runs your lives.....I envision many americans rocking back and forth with a gun in their arms chanting: I'll be okay, I have a gun; I'll be okay, I have a gun....
-
I agree, I think that the now infamous wardrobe malfunction displays that clearly enough.

What I think is most telling in this debate or argument or whatever we want to call it, is that it appears that the nudity is the only problem. I don't see any comments from the posters here on the Miley Cyrus Vanity Fair cover shot, which is quite suggestive, specially with a 15 year old teen star as the subject. With that situation I have some serious doubts about any artistic thought or intent. The intent, to me, seems to be much more along the lines of "sex sells" in that case. So, on one side we have a serious artist, but some pictures in his collection display teen nudity. On the other side we have a teen star posing suggestively on the cover of a widely read magazine. I know which side my ire is most likely to go to.....
