Third year of the presidential term is almost always the best for the stock market. Fourth year is better than the first two, but not as good as the third year. Average gain in the third year is 14%.

And that is what it is....business. This is just the result of capitalism. It all has to sell, and people have to make a dollar. Journalism isn't about truth or honesty, its about the American Dream: making money. That's why news is now brought as "Entertainment". It sells better. Capitalism and integrity do not live well together.

Christine O'Donnell: Some mice have fully-functioning Human Brains
SkyDekker replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
And how exactly did it help Christine O'Donnell's argument/debate to state that those exact words are not found in the constitution (if you truly believe that is what she meant)? So she knew that the legal doctrine is there, based on the wording in the constitution, but somehow she was trying to make a point stating that the exact words weren't in there. So, what was her point with that statement? -

Interesting how you did not respond to the attack on every liberal on the site which that poster did. What was that talk of an agenda again? Since you post on here, does that make you a dork? Or only those that do not agree with you? Isn't that a personal attack? -

Have you ever wondered why you never argue with yourself? -
Obviously you didn't read the link in the OP. Don't let facts get in the way of your hatred.

Kanzlerin Merkel: Multiculturalism A Failure in Germany

I very much agree with this. And believe this anger will further build and eventually escalate. I also believe this anger and hatred will be institutionalized and will be systemic. -
Kanzlerin Merkel: Multiculturalism A Failure in Germany
SkyDekker replied to a topic in Speakers Corner
I am well aware of how things tend to work in Europe. I lived there for 24 years, have family or friends in almost every western european country and speak a couple of the languages. It is easy to blame the immigrants, when it is the native population who has created the problem, allowed the problem to escalate and in many cases is refusing to deal with the problem. It has allowed to fester fo so long, that soon the extreme right wing parties will gain a lot more control throughout Europe. I foresee problems associated with that. -
And most Americans probably have an objection to parents hitting their kids in public. As long as it is contained to in the house or school (as allowed by the supreme court) they don't have a problem with it though. Why are you claiming the moral high ground on this issue? Are women more valuable than children?

Kanzlerin Merkel: Multiculturalism A Failure in Germany
SkyDekker replied to a topic in Speakers Corner
When I read her comments, it reminded me af a sentiment that has bene getting stronger over the years. It underscored my impression that sentiments previously only expressed in more extreme right circles have become a lot more mainstream. That reminded me that the negative attitude towards one specific religous group has been growing almost exponentially. -

Your comment is very similar to the sentiment I hear in Toronto. I have to say I heard the same sentiment a lot stronger during the couple of weeks I spent in Holland this summer. I agree that this is not specific to just Germany. In most of Europe there is a very distinct shift to the right, and extreme-right sentiments have become more commonplace. Or at the minimum are much more accepted in general conversation. -
Saudi Prince Convicted in Old Bailey for Murder; Possible Life Sentence

I'm not sure what his religion has to do with this? He killed some one and got convicted for it. Sounds like the justice system is working so far. -

Yet one third of german's wants to send the 7 million foreign workers home to protect german jobs. 17.2% agreed that "even today, jews have too much influence". 35.6% agreed that Germany is in serious risk of being overrun by foreigners. 58.4% agree that the practice of Islam should be restrcited, eventhough your constitution guarantees freedom of religion. And when asked if Germany should have a fuhrer who leads with a forceful hand for the good of everyone, 13.2% supporte dthe statement outright and 15.9% agreed with some aspects of the idea. 14.9% of Germans agreed with the statement: "There is something special about jews, something peculiar, and they just don't really fit in with us. The percentages are on the rise, compared to 2003. Stick your head in the sand all you want. I do see the similarities. -
from Wiki: So in the US you can beat your kids. In UAE they added the wife. Are you really claiming the moral high ground, because the wife is excluded in the US?

Kanzlerin Merkel: Multiculturalism A Failure in Germany
SkyDekker replied to a topic in Speakers Corner
You ask for something impossible, and when that is pointed out, you call it a cop out. That's some pretty funny stuff. Germany's economy is recovering from its worst year in over 50 years. In most of Europe (and certainly including Germany) there is a very strong sentiment among large portions of the population to blame most if not all problems in their countries on a very distinct group. If you don't see any similarities between that and late 1930's Germany, then I can't help you. -
The more I read and think about this case, the more questions I have. How could this man have been such a rising star in the military? Were there really no signs? How could his wife really not have known or suspected anything? I guess, for me, the biggest shocker is finding out that somebody in such a position, could be that evil. It brings it closer to home, it could be around my social circles now. When I tend to think of evil like this, I imagine deranged, socially inept perpetrators. Col. Russell Williams was the commander of Canada's largest air base when he was arrested for two murders. Turnes out that murder may have been one of his more "sane" crimes. I find the following article from one of the Canadian national newspapers extremely disturbing, but it outlines what a sick fuck this guy is: http://www.nationalpost.com/news/Russell+Williams+pleads+guilty+colonel+stripped+military+rank/3688615/story.html I hope his days on earth are long and extremely painful.
