Millionaire GOP Congressman barely gets by on $600K/yr
SkyDekker replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
The government subsidy he gets for being a Congressman and running this obviously extremely difficult business at the same time. -
Obama to impose $100-per-flight Skydiving Tax

You have friends without guns? That surprises me. -
Obama to impose $100-per-flight Skydiving Tax
SkyDekker replied to JohnRich's topic in Speakers Corner
Better buy more guns. -
Yes, I am sure the person with severe down syndrome will understand that. Or the guy unable to move due to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. I'll just tell him to man up and stop whining.

I am not quite sure why I expected a serious conversation with somebody who has such a simple and skewed view of life.

The percentage may be small, but their health care costs can be astronomical. How exactly should that be paid for?

Then how would you propose those unable to make money be dealt with?

Walgreens Employee Fired for Use of Concealed Weapon
SkyDekker replied to nbblood's topic in Speakers Corner
Well, you meant to say, SkyDekker is right and I bow to his intellect. Oh looky, two can play this game. -
Uhmm, he didn't say anything about legality. He claimed the war was unnecessary and cited the human and financial cost associated with it. You do know unnecessary and illegal are not the same thing right?

One day right-wingers will understand that arguing in absolutes resolves nothing. I really would have more respect for somebody to just say: look I just don't think they should do anything that negatively effects ME.

Running a red light doesn't hurt anybody Doing 100 m/hr in a school zone doesn't hurt anybody Driving drunk doesn't hurt anybody Air races over populated areas don't hurt anybody You are advocating anarchy. Doesn't seem to be working overly well for Somalia.

Your premise is impossible. Not quite sure how you would take away highway overpasses or train tracks. Hence, if it is warranted, I would focus on the easiest and most used option. This isn't a concept just for guns and suicides, it is a fairly basic concept that can be used for most problems. -
uhmm, you didn't say it exactly as quoted. It was a summary of the general gist of your post.

Your husband sounds like a dick. My condolences.

As a man paying a significant amount of child support, all I will say is: If you are man enough to make them, then also be man enough to pay for them.

That mindset will be one of the main stumbling blocks for any economic revival in the US. Just take a look at Greece (Or Spain, or Italy). Most feel that cuts in spending and raises in taxes should only affect other people.

Warren Buffett calls for higher taxes for US super rich
SkyDekker replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
uhmmm, in case you haven't seen the news lately...but most countries tend to have a problem with matching income to expenses. The concept of lowering tax rates to increase income hasn't worked so well.... -

You seem to be comparing apples and oranges in that one sentence. Can't compare actual taxes paid to tax rates. In this case, she would have paid less tax dollars, but a higher tax rate. -
I would think $500 million is chump change compared to the billions wasted in wars. Never mind the human toll.
-
No, Obama should be impeached and everybody should stop paying their taxes...

Israel used 'incredible violence' against Gaza aid flotilla
SkyDekker replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
How do you figure that? -

No angst. My reply was to this statement: Just don't see the equivalence. If that makes me an angst ridden gun-o-phobe in your eyes. Oh well, I have been called a lot worse. -
Pretty petty stuff really. Don't see how prosecuting these people will accomplish anything, or how it benefits the people of the state. Stories like that scream "ego-trip" in my mind.

And the rig is easily rentable without any questions asked (after a logbook check if they don't know you) Point is, the comparison between a gun and a rig as a tool for suicide is flawed. There is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that the gun is a much more available and effective tool when it is 2;30 am and you are feeling depressed and alone. (or really any other time of day or place)
