    Except that to get that response you need a rather large and well funded organization who is tasked full time with preparing for and organizing these responses. The question than becomes, which incidents should the federal government have organizations for according to the libertarion viewpoint? Should, again according to libertarian viewpoint, there be any organization that try and prevent problems, or only those that react when problems have already arisen?

    Yes I do think the CDC has mishandled this. Yes, I also think the CDC has responsibility. What I don't understand is how people who want the federal government out of almost everything, are first to blame and look to the federal government when things go wrong. Hospitals should be run like a business, free market should dictate everything. A hospital run like a business in a fully privatized health care envrionment fucked this up royally and now people are turning to the Fed with expectations of protection. Here I thought conservatives in the US were all about personal responsibility and not relying on the federal government for their wellbeing? The whole thing is a fine example of wanting money saved, reduced oversight, lower taxes, less regulations, untill it effects them personally. Then they start screaming about how the federal government has let them down. Ironically this statement is then often used as reasoning for reducing the role of the federal government even further.

    Very possibly the same reason the native population of Canada has a higher poverty level. I agree. Our system in Canada is such that it is much harder for natives to succeed and flourish. Partly by their own design, partly by the design of non-natives. Some of it is a true disgrace. Yet, when I suggested something similar upthread, vinny, or chad, or whatever his flavour of the day was, got highly offended.

    No it isn't. Not all suicide is a thoroughly planned event. Taking away an easy tool may indeed prevent a suicide. There is no way to state that all gun suicides would take place without guns. (stop frothing at the mouth. I don't think a gun ban in the US would achieve anything any time soon. Just don't see the logic in the argument)

    I think that as long as Chief Oliver doesn't have a 0 crime rate in his area, and no unsolved cases, he probably shouldn't throw stones in glass houses. Second, stopping direct flights would accomplish nothing. I know this may sound odd, but people can transfer planes. If you are proposing full quarantine of any area with infected people. Please do let me know how you are going to quarantine everybody in Texas and Ohio.
