That's not what I said. Do you support spending $200 to ensure $100 is not wasted? Some level of waste is going to happen in every single system. At this point you don't even know what that waste amounts to and what it would cost to reduce the waste.

Yes, Because causational analysis has proven to be so worthless.............. Not at all. It just serves no purpose at this point. -

It has nothing to do with that. People doing their job properly is not news. -

Not at all. Just indicating that blaming the victim is generally not acceptable. Pointing out that something was 100% preventable is stupid. Everything is preventable. Pointing out that if he had not run away he would not have given a cop the option to shoot him in the back is silly. -
OK for schools but not for their own convention
SkyDekker replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
Or as rush sort of pointed out, a standard rule for these types of trade shows/conventions with that many people handling the guns. That would make sense to me. -
Well, other than the police department saying in their statement that CPR was performed by the officers on the scene.

And if that girl didn't wear that skirt, she would not have gotten raped either. -
Why have at least two police officers lieing in their statements. Why is the second police officer not being charged?

OK for schools but not for their own convention
SkyDekker replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
All fair comments. Though I am surprised that the NRA would hold a convention in a centre and state not allowing the presence of working guns. Kind of goes against what they are advocating for. One would think the NRA would choose to positively impact a centre and state in line with their own philosophy. -
And you need to make less assumption about the propaganda I follow, or my political leanings (I don't post nearly enough here for you to have any idea where I fall), especially when 90+% of what you do here is bash the GOP and spew liberal drivel. From your own link: "Kansas expects to have lost $2.2 million last year to fraud in the program, down from more than $7 million in 2013, according to O'Donnell." But hell, it's just shy of $5m in one year...good to know you are in support of tax dollars going to hookers and blow, personal responsibility and all. Except that spending welfare on swimming or a movie is not currently fraud. So that number is useless for the purposes of this discussion.

Only if there happens to be video. As regulator always says, if you are resisiting arrest like this guy, you deserve to be shot and killed though. -
OK for schools but not for their own convention
SkyDekker replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
So LEO presence for the NRA convention is prudent....but in schools the answer is arming teachers? The logic in this is all over the place. I fail to understand why guns are not allowed at the NRA convention for safety reasons, but society at large should have guns for safety reasons. One would think that if one specific group should be trusted to be armed at a convention, it would be NRA members at their annual conference. -
Fair enough. Would you then be willing to spend $200 of your money to ensure and enforce that $100 of your money is not spent on swimming lessons?
-
I wonder how much money is being spent by welfare recipients on these items? Then I wonder how much money has been spent debating this bill and moving it forward. I have this feeling that more money has been spent on creating this bill than will ever be saved by its implementation. Yet, many republicans will proudly proclaim how they don't want to waste taxpayers' money....

Senator Feinstein wants to ban a 45 year old book
SkyDekker replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner
I think it makes perfect sense. If it wasn't then prosecution would have to prove the actual act took place. It would make prosecution of possession of child pornography significantly harder. Censoring computer generated, life like child pornography makes perfect sense. So we should make more things illegal to make the job of cops and prosecutors easier? Gonna have to go ahead and disagree with ya there, Bob. Better make apple juice illegal for minors to drink. Looks too much like beer. Strawman. I didn't say that. You said it didn't make any rational sense. I outlined how it does make rational sense. -
Officer charged with murder after shooting man in back
SkyDekker replied to airdvr's topic in Speakers Corner
The problem is that this incident shows how easy it is for a cop to commit murder if there isn't video. You can think this is a one off and almost never happens, or you can wonder if maybe this happens more often and people have a reason to complain and inquire. -

Not sure how you get to that? Canada does quite alright without a similar 2nd Amendment. Iraq's population was armed, yet Saddam had no problem rising to and staying in power. -

Except that simulated child pornography is illegal as well, so that argument isn't valid in this case. My point remains that those who attempt censorship are nowhere near the absolute worst of humanity. -

This thread is clear evidence of you being wrong. You know what Marc, I am sure you are a bright guy, but this tendency to "dig in no matter what" gives people the exact opposite impression. -

No country allows everything to be printed. What's your point? Every country is run by assholes? Yes, I agree. I'd like to minimize the assholery, personally. My point is that every society should get to decide what they deem to be acceptable in their society. Labelling those who believe child pornography should not be widely and freely available as the "absolute worst of humanity" I don't think is very fair. I also doubt you hold that opinion in that case. Hence, we have likely already agreed that some level of censorship is acceptable. Other societies may believe that writings that call for the extermination of a race, or group should not be widely available. I also wouldn't label that as the absolute worst of humanity, though I fully understand the argument in favour of having it widely available. -

Thank you for taking the bait to show that your argument is being driven by emotion, which is exactly what derek was trying to point out. There is a price to be paid for everything, including the easy availability of guns. Conversly, there would be a price to payed if we removed all guns Agreed, I have stated many times before that banning all guns wouldn't be an option for the US. Claiming all the good guns do, while blaming the negatives associated with it on something else is dishonest though.
