This is a little off topic, but I have purposely taken a different approach with my children. I don't believe in teaching children by hiding things from them. People are going to curse around them, they need to learn when cursing might be appropriate and more importantly when it isn't appropriate. That then becomes a good teaching moment, when people curse during inappropriate times.

Is it really a 5-year period though? Or is that just counted from when the first increase is mandated? Probably should count from the last time an increase was implemented. If companies had kept track with a simple and affordable Cost of Living increase to match inflation, it likely wouldn't be 107%. For many of these small businesses revenues and profits have likely increased over that time period, with none or limited sharing with employees.

It has always been a thing. White collar theft gets treated quite differently from blue collar theft. Stealing some bread to feed a child should be treated differently from stealing a million to buy a car.

55 million Americans participate in 401K More than 250 million adult Americans. The far majority of Americans are not benefiting. But yes, the rich get richer under Trump. The country as a whole gets poorer. And if the country is doing so well, why can you not pay for toothbrushes and beds for the people you are concentrating in camps along your border?

I have a 25 year old, a 15 year old and a 13 year old. I grew up in Europe where the mentality around alcohol is quite different. I didn't know about the concept of drinking to get drunk, or pre-drinking etc. until getting exposed to that as an older teenager in Canada. I grew up having a glass of wine at home from early teens on, diluted in the beginning. It wasn't something that was hidden or ostracized. I firmly believe that education and exposure is better than forbidding something. That goes for booze, that goes for sex and that to some degree goes for drugs. -

I don't disagree. But if you contend that people under 21 cannot make an adult decision around alcohol or cigarettes, how do you then argue they are adults when it comes to other decisions? -
True. Though not changing with the times and remaining stagnant is just as likely to cause an empire to fall.

Isn't liberty supposed to mean that where you stand politically doesn't impact one's freedom? Or does your version of liberty mean that one's political views should impact one's freedom? Or are you just talking out of your ass because you have argued yourself into a corner?

US debt is growing like crazy. President gives free shit to a very select group of already rich people and it is applauded by Republicans. They use all kinds of ninja math to try and convince themselves it will be ok. Democrats propose actually helping people and Republicans get all up in arms wondering where the money is coming from.

Why do you think a democracy cannot be a socialist state/country? Those aren't mutually exclusive. Portugal has been a semi-presidential representative democratic republic since 1976. The pre-amble to the constitution that established that democracy states: "The Constituent Assembly affirms the Portuguese people's decision to [...] open up a path towards a socialist society"
