Any details of how your canopy opened? Really well for the situation. I had a lot of line twists which pinned my head down and my helmet got knocked around a little. I've actually had "normal" rogue openings that have been worse.

Spin 1 1> PHI 2> Botched barrel roll 3> Spun out at 8k, deployed on my back while spining at around 4k. 4> Tried to, but I couldn't. 5> I imediately balled up so my G's were much lower than they would've been if I hadn't done that, yet they were still high enough that it was a struggle to reach my handles. I think my legs probably weren't in enough. Ended up twisting to the side while in the spin to present some clean air and dumping at 4k. Spin 2 1> PHI 2> Botched exit(was bumped). 3> 300-400 feet. 4> Nope. 5> I felt very little G force. I went belly as soon as the spin slowed down a little after balling up tighly.

I guess it's NSFW.

How do you feel about separating your rig & suit?
MarkM replied to skyflyingbecca's topic in Wing Suit Flying
It's a sin. You will burn in Hell for doing it. Pat Robertson told me so himself, before asking for all my jump money. -
Reminds me of my first spin. I could've recovered much earlier in the spin, but expected I'd stabailize a bit more so held the ball-up. But after a bit the forces just get to you, you lose strength and end up in a worse situation. Maybe "react fast and recover early" should be the lesson.

I think the biggest barrier to entry is cost. The sport has gotten safer, but a lot of the safety improvements end up costing the new jumper more. AADs, better rigs, coaching, etc.

Heads Up Displays To Debut During World Skydiving Record Attempts
MarkM replied to cpoxon's topic in Gear and Rigging
Where's it going to pull this information from and why can't I just look down at the wind sock? Raw GPS would be just fine and less distracting. Wow, just like magic. How does it know where other canopies are and why can't I just look around me?? I think tools are much more useful not when they mimic what a skydiver should be doing, but provide information or do things skydivers can't do themselves. AADs fire when you're unconscious, alt and GPS data provide more accurate measurements. Real time live data like fall rate and ground speed would be useful additions because it'd provide immediate feedback while you're in the air(you could see immediately how a change in body position affects your performance). But gear shouldn't try to replace your brain. -
http://www.alti-2.com/Titan/titan.htm Just what we need, more electronic gadgets for skydivers to depend on. Sparky Depend on? I don't know about depend on, but as a wingsuit flyer I know having heads up GPS data would be very nice to have. Actually, I'd like live GPS, ground speed, altitude and fall rate. They'd all be useful information for training.

Nope Most Americans probably don't even know what PAL is.

Haven't sold anything yet, but I have a long list of stuff I haven't bought because of the money I spend skydiving. No big loss though, "stuff" doesn't make you any happier anyway.

That's why I went with a white PHI instead of black. I live in Florida and don't need any extra warmth.

You might keep an eye on Ebay. I've seen some 105's moving there. I just bought a HC40 off of Ebay for $275 and it has close to the same specs as a 105(just a little smaller CCD). Use a sniping application like http://www.jbidwatcher.com/ to help with the bidding.

Watching the golden age of wingsuits from the ground?
MarkM replied to Viking's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Start cutting out the unimportant drek from your life. Getting a roommate can cut down on your rent, staying with an old car instead of buying a new one can save you hundreds of dollars a month in car payments. Taking bag lunches to work instead of eating fast food can save a lot of money, etc. It's not hard coming up with a $200-300 or more a month jump budget. And wingsuits are so worth it. The speed, power and control you have with them is such an addiction. -
Here are the specs on both: http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Sony_DCR_PC105 http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Sony_DCR_PC9 Looks like the 105 has better still resolution(if you care about taking stills) and more CCD pixels.

Depends how much your rentals cost. I was paying 50 bucks a day to rent so I could afford to stay on rental til about 30 or 40 jumps. Even then, I sort of went onto my own gear a little early(my main was a little too small for my skill level). But if you're paying 30 bucks a hop to rent you could buy a used rig, use it for 50 jumps, then sell it for a little less than you bought it and you'd be saving a lot of money.

A little color in your suit will look better once I get setup for shooting video

Did you check out the aerial photos of the DZ beforehand? Generally I like to know what the view is going to look like and know what my outs are before I ever get into the plane. Do you check out the view of the airport as you're going up to altitude in the plane? I don't think the issue with wingsuits is so much the "spot". You can pretty much fly home from anywhere so long as the plane drops you within a decent range of the DZ. But you definately need to know how to find your LZ from the sky. Maybe it's just a skill you need to practice(start looking at the ground more, LOL).

Muhahaha. Nice shots dude.

Sweet. Now get some rest, dig out the old boring skydiving rig and get ready to do some 13.5k jumps this weekend.
-
I don't see where your first 50 jumps has to be expensive or hard to do at all. Once I passed AFF I did maybe 2 coach jumps to get my A license and the rest were fun jumps. A lot of them were on my own, experimenting with the air and practicing just learning how my body reacted to the air and the rest were with friends.
