  1. Let me answer by imperfect analogy: what you've argued was pretty much the same argument used in the 1950s & 60s re: racial civil rights in the US, and the use of (in that case, mostly federal) courts to enforce those civil rights. The doom-predicting wasn't borne out then; it won't be now, either.
  2. He actually did a lot of good for Germany before he got greedy and wanted Austria. The rest went downhill pretty steeply. You really think his evil was mainly in foreign policy?
  3. You're supporting a point I've often made: being the mayor of an urban city is about the toughest, most thankless, target-on-your-back job in American elective politics.
  4. FWIW, I agree with the moral and ethical point you're trying to make. But don't confuse it with a legal point; and let's aim the (ethical) point where it really lies: at the unholy alliance between the plutocrats and the politicians who craft the tax code.
  5. Maybe or maybe not. It could also be argued that he as a younger man was in competition with others to fill a role that others were also seeking to fill, and he won the competition to the top. Sometimes the man makes the times, and sometimes the times make the man. By comparative analogy, had Stalin not won the competition to be the brutal successor to Lenin, someone else would have.
  6. You've just described about 95% of gay people. They don't deserve the slander. For the most part, those who offend you that way judge the 5% of Christians who seem so spiteful and angry, and seem to be attention whores preoccupied with forcing everyone to accept their way of life. Those observers don't deserve to be slandered as if they judge all of Christianity that way. Or, in view of the 5% who do judge all Christianity that way, the other 95% don't deserve to be slandered as if they're part of the 5%.
  7. Well, that's what they say.
  8. Hey, shit for brains, no one can take someone like you seriously since you hate puppies and forgot your Oxford comma. Interesting how you can call someone shit for brains and no mods identify that as a PA. That's because the moderators do not have shit for brains, and thus can recognize tongue-in-cheek when they see it.
  9. Two separate years-old threads you've reactivated to do this? You must really be hard up. You need to get cases the way the rest of us respectable lawyers do: corrupt politicians.
  10. Damn. I keep adding things to my bucket list.
  11. Perhaps, at a time when well paying/benefited jobs were a bit more easier to land. Having a job in these times, that you really need, just makes a dickhead boss that much more intolerable. The worst part, dickhead bosses know the job market, this gives them their power. Sometimes accidents just happen.
  12. Cool. Hey did you see the other story on the page about bending wood in a vacuum using pressurized ammonia? I've always wanted to do that.

    Angry

What, wait, according to the liberals here in SC that behavior is totally acceptable. And then you weep like a little girl to Bill about why you get ragged on. This is why. Troll not, lest ye be trolled.
  14. Well, his spinal cord was 80% severed and his larynx was crushed. I'd guess that will factor into deciding "for what".
  15. As do I. It's a much more efficient means of taxation: it cuts out the middle-man!
  16. You sound like the people that said that since I do not agree with Obama that I am a racist. Well I think that those people burning the town down are animals. Because they are acting like animals. Saying that they look like a certain animal may be racist but it is the truth also! Racism has nothing to do with it! I am pretty sure I have never seen any animals start fires:::: would an elephant set a fire.... how about an orangutan??? How about Mrs. O'Leary's cow?
  17. Here's a serious answer. Sensory overload tends to be incredibly high on most people's first jump. That was certainly the case on my first S/L jump, which was long before tandem was invented. A tandem is a good way to flush some of that overload out of your brain on your first jump without the added stress of being the sole person responsible for saving your own life.
  18. So you're "that guy" on the road.
  19. Context is everything. The iPhone is awful with autocorrect. But in context of the photo and other things Gorilla is not inconsistent. As I stated, your explanations will sound as valid as the mayor's. Just stop digging. No, no. I think he should get his staff to issue a clarification.
  20. Shirley, you can see the difference between a cake and a shirt.
