Be nice Spence...they are all we have to work with out here in the sticks.... The Braver the Bird...The Fatter the Cat.

--------------------------------------------------------- I don't want to show "coach" in my profile until I check all the boxes and fax my paperwork to Billy...I'm anal like that. Just like I don't show "photographer" in my profile, either...I don't consider myself one yet. I'm sure Big Steve, Blaine, or Lee will let me know when I'm considered on their level, and worthy of being called a "Professional Freefall Photographer" I'll let ya'll know when I can afford the $20 post-whore fee...I'm a little drained from the coach course! The Braver the Bird...The Fatter the Cat.

Are you sure she was playing ----------------------------------------------------------- Sure she was! She can "play" a student better than I can teach freefall body position! The Braver the Bird...The Fatter the Cat.

Yes, congrats are in order!

I'll find out what I need to bring this weekend...as for adding my name to the list, I can barely post, much less adding my name to one of those running lists...perhaps I need coaching this weekend from some of you post-whores! My jumps still out-number my posts...but I'm gettin' there! The Braver the Bird...The Fatter the Cat.

Count us in! Melissa and Big Eric will be there as we are every weekend!!

freelyflyn71 replied to freelyflyn71's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Oh yeah...the one at the Farm was bad-ass enough to cover '06! That was my pre-second boogie ever, too! Great way to start off my boogie career....and it's going to be a really long wait for Dublin!! The helicopter will get my business again, 'fer sure!! -
Orfun boogie location for '07?
freelyflyn71 replied to freelyflyn71's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Anyone know if there will be an Orfun boogie for 2007? If so, where's the locale? I checked roamingdz.com, and couldn't find any info! The Braver the Bird...The Fatter the Cat. -
Congrats on your AFF graduation!! I bet you can't wait for your solo jump...and all the fun you'll have after that!

I'm sure you are referring to the fun jumpers that go work on their tan between loads while a packer sweats his/her ass off packing their rig...packers are a necessity for teams and AFF/Tandem instructors doing back to back loads and de-briefing their students in between jumps. I've been guilty of using packers to grab a break between jumps, but I was mainly trying to help out the packers by giving them some work on slow weekends. You always get the kid that walks around the hangar asking if you need a pack job...I'm a sucker for helping them out. The Braver the Bird...The Fatter the Cat.

That's what was nice about my transaction with Mike...he didn't know me from jack, and he sent me a rig and a main for me to inspect out of the blind...I'm not saying that I recommend that everyone reacts the same way Mike did with me...I'm just saying that I appreciate the trust amongst the skydiving brotherhood that existed during our particular transaction. I hope that trust can exist with other beginning jumpers as well...it gave me a great confidence in my fellow skydiving brothers and sisters when I had such a good experience with buying through DZ.com my first time!

I had an excellent experience buying my first main canopy...The individual I dealt with sent me a complete rig with no questions asked...the rig did not fit, so I sent it back and bought a main canopy from him instead. I still stay in contact with him to this day. He is more experienced than I am, so he has been an invaluable source of information for me! I have yet to meet him in person, but I look forward to jumping w/him soon. I highly recommend DZ.com as a source to purchase gear!

Ever heard the WWII era story of the B-17 that broke up or exploded in flight at nighttime? Supposedly, an unfortunate crew member was not wearing a parachute was ejected from the aircraft. He began flailing and grabbing, and grabbed hold of something falling in the dark. It turned out to be a fellow crew member who WAS wearing a parachute! The guy pulled the ripcord and discovered his buddy clinging to his harness with a death-grip. They supposedly landed safely. I read this somewhere many years ago when I was in high school...anyone ever heard the same story? The Braver the Bird...The Fatter the Cat.

Does military time count? If not, I was on my own after a nasty divorce, and was in a really nice "6 person tent" for around 3 weeks...not too bad, however, it was during a really cool October month!

You dumb ass! You trusted your teenage child with your welfare!! O.K., so I would've let my teenage daughter do the same thing to me...I guess we're all way too trusting as parents...lesson learned. The Braver the Bird...The Fatter the Cat.

I jump a Raven IV (282 sq. ft.) as a main, and about 40-50 jumps ago I had a pocket installed on my slider to slow my openings. I was getting cracked on almost every jump. I now see openings in the 800-1100 ft range. When I want to end the snivel early, I simply pull on the rear risers and the slider pops down quickly. You may find you can pack as usual and use this method on every jump. Ask your rigger or instructor about it first, though...you could get your paws caught in a line twist if you grab your risers too soon! Make sure your canopy is opening on-heading before grabbing the rears! The Braver the Bird...The Fatter the Cat.

Speaking of hottie female skydivers...missed you at the Farm this weekend! How was that rafting trip!

Do you wear your wedding ring when you jump?
freelyflyn71 replied to Jeth's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Glad it helped! My wife, who now has 2 jumps, completely understands, however, she is quick to put hers back on, and remind me to put mine back where it belongs when the beer light comes on! The Braver the Bird...The Fatter the Cat. -
First jumps off student status
freelyflyn71 replied to JoeG's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It was a pleasure, Joe! Hope you'll be out this weekend...I'm always up for some combat RW! Did you see Chad's video of the jump I was on? I passed between you and Chad and waved at the camera...I'm a ham for the camera...If there's one in the air, I'll be there!! I made it a quick strafing run, so as not to steal too much of YOUR ham time! Eric The Braver the Bird...The Fatter the Cat. -
You figured me out. In just 122 posts you have it all figured out. I commend you. I wish only to be like you but alas . . . I can only be . . . attention starven . . . I guess because I only have 122 posts I can't have an opinion...I'll keep that in mind. Don't be mean. Keith's a big ole' sweety. This is all just in fun!! That crack about 122 posts didn't sound a bit mean to you? I tire of reading posts of folks getting flamed just because they aren't "well known" or aren't 4-5 digits on their post numbers. Keith being a "big ole' sweety has nothing to do with it...I'm sure he's a great guy...just don't appreciate the way his reply was worded. The Braver the Bird...The Fatter the Cat.

If I'm trying to sell a high dollar item on eBay (which I have) I would use spell checker before I sent an e-mail to a potential buyer! The Braver the Bird...The Fatter the Cat.
