Okay, I'll concede that my arguments on the topic are far less factual (I have not done a lot of scholarly research on this issue) than emotional as my sister is one of those parents who has seen her child's behavior change immediately following vaccinations (and not by screaming when pricked by a needle as you so lightly put it earlier) -- very visible signs of autism. My arguments come mostly from what she told me. My sister worked her ass off years since, put the kid on a gluten/lactose/caseine free diet, got lots of therapy for him, and the nephew is doing fine now, so long as he remains on his strict diet. I'll even concede that I stuck my neck out here and got a drubbing on my stance on the issue. Nonetheless, I think we should be asking the questions: is the increase in frequency of vaccines safe for everyone, or are certain children predisposed to neurological damage from 30+ vaccines before the age of 2? I'm not even proposing we don't vaccinate children. How about spreading out the schedule so there isn't such a high number of vaccinations at once? How about alternatives to the vaccine additives (even if those parents have to pay more)? Before these 30+ vaccines by the age of 2, people weren't dying left and right, so to me, these are questions worth asking and ideas worth considering. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Okay, neither you nor Bill nor kelpdiver nor jclalor have responded to the fact that the DHHS has awarded a plaintiff for damages caused by a vaccination. What happened here is not an isolated case; it has happened thousands of times. Rather than people making blanket statements like "30+ vaccinations before the age of 2 is perfectly safe," perhaps we should be asking questions such as "are certain people predisposed to neurological damages from vaccines containing neurotoxins such as mercury, even in trace amounts? Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Aside from one fradulent study where the doctor was profiting from the finding, no one else can find a link between autism and immunizations. They can't all be in the pocket of big pharma. You can't rely solely on the observations of emotional parents. The CDC disagrees with you. (I take it that neither you nor Bill read this previous link). Bullshit That editorial from WSJ (too cool to post a link, or at minimum URL text?), and many of the "conclusive studies"... brought to you by big pharma, the makers of the vaccines that include such "safe" ingredients as aluminum, formaldehyde, MSG, and thimerosal. Wonderful ingredients for infants. I don't think that the dramatic increase of immunizations in the vaccine schedule from the late 80s to 2000 and the correlated increase in cases of autism is a coincidence. Think it's all a hoax? Tell that to the thousands of parents who have seen a drastic change in their children's behavior *immediately* following vaccinations. ETA: Just because Dr. Wakefield is a proven liar doesn't mean that people should stop asking questions regarding the potentially damaging consequences of ever increasing vaccinations in infants. Very noble intentions. Unfortunately, SC is the wrong place for them. We're all about posturing here, and you're way out of line with your will to reason and actually discuss the subject. God forbid anyone engage in dialogue in speakers corner -- what a compromise of one's ego that would be. And instead of attempting to strengthen the ideas you post by confronting challenging questions, why not just dodge and redirect with loaded questions that suit your view. Very par for the course here. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -

Ramifications of USPS going out of business
masterblaster72 replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
I'll take that one step further and say that it's symbolic of what's wrong with business in America as a whole. Example 1: Cable TV. We used to pay for it when it was first offered in the early 80s in large part because there were no commercials. Now we pay more than ever for cable, and there are more commercials than ever, with less quality programming than ever. I'm glad I don't subscribe to it. Example 2: Appliances. When I was younger, appliances were made to last, and now they're made to get your $$$ and they break down faster than they ever did. All so the manufacturers can get your $$$ again and again. Got a problem? Call customer service. That's gone down the toilet too -- they keep finding more ways of making it more efficient for THEM and more aggravating for you. Example 3: Airlines. Many of the items that used to be a part of the flight experience (food, headphones, pillows/blankets) are often items that you have to pay for now. Not to mention the bitchy attendants that serve you. Why's that? They're getting paid less than they used to, with less benefits. Pull down your tray when it's time to eat that slop and you have to see some bullshit advertisement that you know wasn't part of the deal. All to get your $$$. Forget brand loyalty, forget client service -- it's all about getting your $$ anymore. Greed and corruption rule the day, while we docile bovine consumers/voters keep getting herded, taking it day in and day out. And so long as the American populace continues to bend over and accept the status quo, that status quo will continue to sink, while the CEOs and politicians laugh their way to the bank. Israel: There are Useful Idiots, in Every Country
masterblaster72 replied to dmcoco84's topic in Speakers Corner
So there's a protest of 400K+ people in a country that has what is otherwise a very cohesive society, and all you pay attention to are banners and Che t-shirts, rather than the reason they're protesting? Love your "American" commentary on the matter. Keep making us Americans look smart. You would make a fine Fox News commentator. Speaking of debris, I see barefoot runners in Manhattan pretty often these days. Not only can you get debris in your feet from running on the street and sidewalks, you can also get parasites and infections from the schmutz. Nasty! Once again the media whips everyone into a frenzy...
masterblaster72 replied to airdvr's topic in Speakers Corner
at least they're now minimally prepared, right? And maybe some will reevaluate the home situation and take time over the next month to really get the shit together. Yes, people will have their gallons of water and their generator for the next "hurricane" that hits the northeast ten years from now. I can remember three hurricanes previous to this one to hit NY or Philly -- David in the late 70s, Gloria in the mid '80s, and Floyd in '99. All of them were windy, very rainy thunderstorms, not measuring up to the hysteria people bought into. But I do see your point -- having water and a generator around doesn't hurt in case basic utilities stop functioning for other reasons. masterblaster72 replied to airdvr's topic in Speakers Corner
No shit. Yeah this was a storm to take seriously. But the level to which the media hyped it up was ridiculous. The only ones to blame are the people who dignify the hype by constantly giving the hype attention. Friday night was a ridiculous time to be in Manhattan -- EVERYONE on the street was talking about the storm. Oh and retail sales of water and batteries went through the roof. Hype is great for business, isn't it. In the meantime, there wasn't a day this weekend where I didn't go outside for a nice long stroll. This wasn't much worse than a nasty thunderstorm. Non partisan confirmation of the Ron Paul snow job
masterblaster72 replied to kelpdiver's topic in Speakers Corner
I have no doubt there's a concerted effort to suppress him. Why do you think Fox News deliberately excluded him from one of the later 2008 presidential debates after he kicked ass in a previous one? This site is a smaller representation of the greater American electorate, and the discourse in this forum is mostly about emotive non-issues that don't matter (guns, abortion, religion, etc.). The discourse is for the most part *not* civil here -- aping the left/right poo-slinging seen on television or heard from radio blowhards. Most people here aren't talking about someone who talks sense like Ron Paul, because he's not given much attention on the television. Nothing deliberate here in SC, but I think discourse here is a representation of the BS covered by the big news channels. I remember the first SC thread I read was in 2004, and it was about Cindy Sheehan -- again, shit that doesn't matter, as seen on tv. If the electability of our leadership depends on entertainment value, this country is in some very serious trouble. Non partisan confirmation of the Ron Paul snow job
masterblaster72 replied to kelpdiver's topic in Speakers Corner
Here's how I think it works: 1. Lazy American voters watch TV 2. Americans believe they are informed by watching TV 3. Americans only consider and bring into discussion the candidates shoved down their throats courtesy of their TVs 4. Americans vote based on who they see on TV (regardless of whether Ron Paul wins a Fox debate or comes in a close second in the Iowa straw poll) Noteworthy: the same companies that bring in advertising revenue for the TV channels also fund those candidates presented to Americans on TV. Therefore, most candidates from both parties (including Obama) are shills for those same financial supporters, while the couch potato electorate vote for those bought candidates, thinking they represent their interests. "Left" v "Right"/"Rep" v "Dem" = playing right into their hands. So...until people pull the plugs on their televisions (or preferably swing sledgehammers through their television screens), we'll always have the same whores "representing the people." Voting for Ron Paul breaks this cycle. That the media is shunning him only strengthens my support for him.
