What a fine example of American Patriotism.
masterblaster72 replied to Amazon's topic in Speakers Corner
So are y'all - shall I bring up all the "Bush should choke on a pretzel" "Cheney should have a heart attack" etc etc etc? Yeah, you keep thinking that. Weak. Another example. No one stoops to these depths of malice and immaturity like republicans. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -

Oh, *please*.... Predictable as always. Ya want more of that republican "patriotism"? Mean-spirited and childish, I tell ya. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -

Almost as fine as this one from years back. Yeah, democrats suck, but they don't come close to republicans in the mean-spirited and childish categories. Bunch of twats...though I do like Ron Paul. Thank you for the civil discourse, which is rare here. I also appreciate your expertise on the subject. My understanding is that the energy companies are in such a rush to get the gas out of the Marcellus shale that they are building these wells in haste. That's where the mistakes happen -- like the bad cement jobs you mentioned. What adds to the problem is the lack of regulation, from my understanding. There are far less inspectors available than there are wells popping up. So, the way I see things -- why not regulate the industry more, in the name of safety? Even if it means holding off on the fracking for a few years -- let regulatory agencies catch up to industry so as to prevent further contaminations from occurring. I've been learning from some experts on the subject as well -- this is an interview with a professor who led the only peer-reviewed study on water contamination and its links with fracking. He said that while there is no evidence of fracking fluid in well water, there is a connection between methane from shale contaminating well water. Both environmentalists and those from the energy industry had mixed reactions to the study. Well-worth a watch. Finally, to give you an example of why some in the energy industry are hated: in a town in rural Italy, an American oil company is looking to drill five wells and build a refinery and de-sulfurization plant. The region is a natural, scenic gem, heavily agricultural, and the locals have invested heavily in a growing agri-tourism industry in the last 20 years. The locals have repeatedly told the oil company that their refinery is not wanted, even after the company offered an annual pittance in Euro to the local community. Numerous meetings with locals, numerous protests, petitions, and official statements by more than 20 towns to the region's government continually said no, because they know that this refinery will bring economic and cultural ruin to the region (no one will want to buy food/wine grown near an oil refinery, and no one will want to take a vacation there). Not to mention the health problems that hydrogen sulfide spewing into otherwise clean air will bring...not to mention that they want to drill on a seismically fragile area in the region, which the company has even acknowledged is a serious risk...not to mention that the oil underneath the ground there ranks only a 12 for its quality, because it's full of sulfuric impurities...And STILL, they're pushing to get in there, when they know that they are not wanted. I hope you can understand in that context that those in the energy industry often do things that do not help their image; for that, they don't need help from "environuts." Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Here is the de-debunking, to which the energy industry has not responded in over a year. Believe what you want -- the fact is, peoples' very ability to drink clean water is being taken away from them. As for the "horrific and deliberate" lies, please share. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

RESPECT. I commend you. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

So what motives do you think the narrator had -- was it a publicity stunt? Gas drilling has been around for some time. Horizontal shale fracturing, which this documentary is about, has not been around for 40 years. How would you approach the 32 families of Dimock, PA, who lost their clean water and have to have it shipped in, and whose property values evaporated? Would you listen to them with an open mind or tell them they're full of it? Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Just saw this documentary last night. Very, very disturbing that entire communities and peoples' very ability to drink clean water can be destroyed and that the fracking energy companies get away with complete impunity. The guise is that we can be "energy independent" and "thwart the terrorists" by fracking in our own country. The reality is that the energy companies make quick money with zero accountability for the damage they cause. How "patriotic." Seriously -- this country is absolutely fucked. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Well, while that's "charming" in a tech start-up or company that sells cookies in shopping malls, this is a considerably more serious position we're talking about here and the ramifications of a nutcase with his finger on the button doesn't really sit well with me. I imagine you're like most of the democrats I know, who are turned off by the (R) next to Ron Paul's name and won't consider him any further than that. Some of us, fortunately, are more open-minded than that. If a man who votes completely consistently with *everything* that comes out of his mouth is a nutcase, then I would vote for a nutcase anytime. Ron Paul is the only politician of that kind running for president. Not even Obama can claim to be a man of his word, voting with 100% consistency according to what he says. THAT is the kind of president we need -- an HONEST man with new ideas. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Thank you. When I was at PSU I found the sports culture there despicable. Jo Pa's image was everywhere, as if he is some kind of god. What really turned me off was when Pepsi paid $3 million for a scoreboard advertisement. NONE of that went to academics -- only to the big money machine they call the athletic program. Joe Paterno could have done the right thing years ago and exposed this guy for doing what he did. Instead, he enabled a pederast, out of self-interest, and in the interest of the useless athletics program. Then the dirt comes out and now he's repentant. He deserves to go out in disgrace. And then there's his douchebag son who tried to run for Congress, solely by virtue of his big last name. I hope PSU's sports program goes to shit for this. Maybe the Catholic church Can Learn from Penn State
masterblaster72 replied to masterblaster72's topic in Speakers Corner
link A sure way to solve the problem is to cut the head off...and the tail will die. As a Penn State alumnus who never gave a turd about the Nittany Lions: fuck you "Joe Pa" -- you knew something was rotten but it just wasn't your priority to do enough about it. Pope John Paul II should have gotten the same treatment back in 2002 when it all unraveled for the Catholic church. Thus, for all pederasts and those who know them and don't do enough to stop it: may you end your lives in disgrace. World Power Swinging Back to America

The author is making the naive assumption that jobs will return to the US after China becomes too expensive. I think he's wrong -- they'll just go to the next ultra-cheap country to do business in. Israeli/Palestinian Prisoner Swap
masterblaster72 replied to masterblaster72's topic in Speakers Corner
Link Israel releases over 1,000 prisoners for one person Gilad Shalit. That speaks volumes to some of those that value life so much as to send women and young people to die for their cause. I am curious to hear the anti-Zionist sentiment in light of this. ... No wonder this thread is a day late. I think you meant to say, "Atheism linked to autism". Yes, there's a difference. As I said...give em a bible. Have them in various languages - to include the original. Your point? Neurotypicals are sheep. I'll be sleeping warm tonight... Because you're covered in wool? (I may have lost track of the analogy at some point.) As if you were ever on track... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDMMwG7RrFQ This thread sickens me... Why? It's fun to be insensitive when discussing autism -- lots of jabs to take at the kooks who ask why it's becoming such a prevalent condition -- unless you've experienced it first hand happening to someone in your family. Nowhere have I said that kids shouldn't get vaccinated. Nor can you can you convince me that a heavy vaccine schedule does not cause *some* children neurological damage when I've heard the same accounts from many parents of their children going autistic immediately after having received certain vaccines.
