Yeah, that should work. But some rich guy is paying for my 300 jumps though, right? Because hell if I work to make my own money so I can skydive.

Kind of a sidetrack, but I accidentally got on an airliner a little while ago with my hook knife in my backpack. Completely forgot it was there and security didn't pick it up. I guess it can't really be used too well as a weapon, but none the less, you think they wouldn't allow it. So much for airport security...

Both tcnelson and gravitymaster make good points. However, free handouts are better and of course, we well deserve them...afterall, the rich have money, so they should give it to me. Sorry gravitymaster, but it's only fair for us to be freeloaders of society. So, tcnelson wins!!!

Alias, if you look closer, I was replying to eagle's original post, not yours.

Haha, wow, that's awesome. That must have been great to see him buy those two mugs and then just bash them to little pieces.

The first testing of a missile capable of reaching CONUS was in the early 70's. The missile didn't become operational until 1980. It's the DF-5 if you're interested.

This War is Different? and things to think about
ViperPilot replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
Exactly. If they want us there, then we are only visting by request, not by force. Thus, no occupation, just presence. -
True, I'm not holding my breath on it. But we've seen this exact kind of thing several times from them. With as obsessed as they are with China's future (and a positive one at that), I just don't think they're going to do something stupid to destroy it. Is a stupid pissing match with Taiwan really worth destroying their economy? I think there's more of a chance of them backing down. But like you said, you never know.

Hopefully that's the right guy. Because if so, well lets just hope he's having a whole lot of fun being detained by the Egyptian government.

Guess what, Iraq IS NOT in the Soviet Bloc. The Soviets are not there, stop making comparisons that are not valid. There is a vast difference between us and the Soviet military of that time. This comparison is at best an extremely far-fetched dream. So you think we haven't freed the Iraqi people? What news station do you watch? They are free. And as for the WMDs, it's blatantly obvious that they were there at a time, maybe not when we went in, but they were there prior. But, that's an entirely different topic. And since you believe this, I'm assuming you consider the US to be in control of 75% of the world, since we have military bases in that much (or so). Just because we have a presence there does not mean we control the government. -
That's the point. Attacking the US would completely demolish China's economy. I believe that the PRC will figure it out that taking control of an island is not worth completely wrecking their economy. It would wreck their economy because they would obviously lose us as a trade partner, along with our allies, thus taking billions from China's industry. Not to mention it would really piss us off, and we'd probably do something like destroy their oil fields. They've threatened us before like this, and backed down. They will again.

You need to give more credit to the soldiers who rescued her. Sure, she didn't fight off Iraqis rambo style like some reports said, but she was in huge danger and needed help. But of course you take the word of the Washington Post and its extremely reliable sources, such as Dr. Mushafafawi, who said that no military or intelligence members went with Lynch when she moved hospitals. You actually believe that the Iraqi military/intelligence community wouldn't care if an American POW was being transferred anywhere in Iraq? That's a complete lie, they'd be all over her like flies on shit; especially in the earlier parts of the war when having a captured American was extremely good propganda (not that it's not now, but it was very important then). I know you hate the US and Bush a ton, but maybe you should think about your sources. Dr. Mushafafawi and others can't be reliable sources all the time, even though they may not be bad people, the sheer threat to themselves and their families by the Saddam government/military is enough to make them tell a "nice little story," just like the one they gave to the Washington Post. Remember, just because some guy like Dr. Mushafafawi says so, does not make it true.

I bet they were too. Just like skyrad said, there's a hundred different organizations with several cells. They just have at least one common goal, so they unite under the umbrella term, Al Qaeda. So when people use that term, it's really refering to numerous, autonomous groups.
-
The Chinese are all about flexing their muscles. They flex and flex, but never follow through. They've been threatening Taiwan and us for over a decade regarding this issue. I really don't think they're about to completely screw their economy over (considering we and our allies are massive trading partners) just for a little island. I guess only time will tell for sure, but it's just not probable unless they really don't give a shit about their country. And trust me, they're obsessed with their country and its future.

Who are you comparing to who? Are you asking what's the difference between bodypilot's relative and this murderer? Please clarify.
-
Want to show us factual evidence about that one? I'm not saying it's impossible, but I'd sure like to see non-ludicrous evidence showing Osama is dead.

The KKK is one terrible organization as well. That's for sure. At least they've been dealt with, for the most part. Not saying there isn't racism in America, but at least there aren't rampant KKK bombings every day. -

So true. When the enemy belives we are losing at home (and they do), their resolve grows stronger every day. So to you out there who hate Bush and hate what my friends and I do, thanks. I really appreciate the strengthened resolve in the enemy. I'm not saying you have to like Bush and his policies, but at least cut us some slack and let us do our jobs. We'd be much better off without the rampant whining coming from home. -
Well good luck to him. He's doing a noble thing, especially by backing up what he belives by getting off his ass and making a difference. Too bad the press doesn't give a damn about his conviction. Oh well, there will always be weasley (sp?) little bastards running rampant in society. It's just a given. But someone has to protect them, because they're certainly not capable of doing it themselves.

No surpise there. Everyone should read about this guy, and then realize that people EXACTLY like him are the ones who shoot at us and civlians every damn day in Iraq. Fuck those guys. As ironic as it is, I hate people filled with so much hatred. They deserve more than a huge ass kicking. My thoughts are with the victim's family and friends. Just sickens me... -

Hahaha, no, no they wouldn't. I'd like to get up to alititude in under 75 years, preferably. -
Thanks for posting that. I just wish more people would read stuff like that and realize we're not a bunch of murdering assholes. We do what we need to do to get the job done, period. And this job is right, no matter how bad the situation sucks.

Well hopefully it is nice and secure. Because I sure as hell don't want to run out of oil. -

Hey, if we're securing oil fields for the future while achieving our other objectives, then hell yeah! It's just annoying when people think we're there solely to rob the Iraqi people of their oil. That's the stupid part. But it still stands that we get little of our oil from there (of course this may change in the future, but for now, Iraq is not our big supplier of oil). Now, stop bothering me!! -
Haha, good stuff.
