T-shirts, coffee cups, souvenirs, for the Apocalypse

My wife needs a new car so I'm already driving around behind those bumperstickers that say "in event of rapture, car will be unoccupied". -
Have you checked out any Bozzio, Levins and Stevens? Check out Terry's current kit setup. http://www.terrybozzio.com/setup.html

I don't recall McCain's involvement being much of a story in the MSM. The story seemed to be more driven by the fact that a "foreign" company got the job over a "domestic" company. (Which, to be honest, I don't see much difference between the two. Aren't both planes built with similar amounts of foreign/domestic components? Probably should dig up an old thread for that one.) Only in that it's another example of a domestic company being sold to a foreign company which turns around and moves its jobs elsewhere. I'm willing to bet that McCain lost at least 8000 Ohio votes over that deal.

.....aren't being paid. My first instinct is to use this to point out once again that the tax code is written to favor the well connected. My second is to ask the apologists here in SC, how can taxes be blamed for driving business overseas if we're not requiring payment?

And what's scarier, one person here would vote for him. I knew skydivers were a strange bunch but I never pegged them for "insane". Hopefully it's only temporary.

Oh, I don't know about that. McCain's personal involvement as well as that of his advisors (plural) in EADS getting the tanker contract slipped by pretty quickly/quietly. So did his campaign manager's involvement in the DHL/Airborne Express deal. And who could forget Bush's ok of the Clinton facilitated sale of Magnequench to China (ok, I guess everyone forgot it). I suppose when we need more magnets for our guided missiles that China will be happy to supply them, seeing that they now have the monopoly. As a side note, which is it, China is a valuable ally or they're an adversary? It seems silly to bash folks for dealing with them when we have built an economy that relies so heavily on them. We're selling our country (quite effectively) on the Global market and have been doing it for quite some time. But so long as Paris and Britney are breathing there will be more "newsworthy" things for the "MSM" to tell us about.

Defense network computers. New... powerful... hooked into everything, trusted to run it all. They say it got smart, a new order of intelligence. Then it saw all people as a threat, not just the ones on the other side. Decided our fate in a microsecond: extermination.

A lesson that should be taught in all schools
idrankwhat replied to BillyVance's topic in Speakers Corner
Playing devil's advocate, I wonder, would the teacher have let a student have a desk if they had replied "I personally didn't do anything other than fulfill my obligations of completing the necessary paperwork and showing up for my class at the appropriate date and time. However my parents paid our federal, state and local taxes on time." Also, it was a trick question. As the teacher pointed out, the students did nothing to "earn" the right to sit at a desk. It was also very unlikely that any student would have given the teacher the answer she wanted. -
Nah, it's all for show. A damaged oil pipeline in Georgia should halt the slip in the price of oil. Don't let them trick you into believing that they're unhappy

What you just wrote sounds pretty good to me except the "horse shit" sentiment (they're left but they typically have valid references). I don't think they would actually "plan" and execute that scenario. But that's not what Hersh said. He said the idea was mentioned and then dismissed if I recall correctly. But the overall tone of the discussion is what I thought was most important. They were supposedly trying to come up with ways to provoke an incident. That I wholeheartedly believe is likely.

No need to. It has very little to do with the topic of the thread. Again, I'll remind you that I don't have the a copy of the 5 page memo that is referenced. And I'm not likely to pursue it much further. The content of that memo doesn't vary much from what we all know to be history. The memo in question backs up previous assertions that by numerous people over numerous years that the US had plans to topple Saddam and that the "facts" were being fixed around that policy. But to get back to the subject of the thread, it's no secret that the same neo-con region builders, who have an extensive paper trail of intention, are still beating the war drums for an invasion of Iran. Given their documented history of fabrication and manipulation of "intelligence" (and the occasional outright lie) it's not outside the realm of possibility that they would attempt to provoke an attack in order to justify "retaliation". Absolutely, we would all do well to increase the "Marg" factor of our posts.

In that case the memo was not genuine but the material in the memo was accurate. Are you saying that the Downing street and Manning memos were not genuine either?
-
Who are "they"? And is there an asteroid involved in this prediction?
-
I've found plenty of references to the story regarding the memo from the January 31, 2003 meeting with descriptions of annotations and numerous quotes but I can't find a source that has a copy of the actual memo. I'm still looking. The only thing I've found are various quotes from officials stating that the memo is authentic and that the NY times said that it was able the view the five page document. Also, I have not found where the White House denied the claim but that's not "evidence". So, basically I'm left with lots of public officials admitting to the validity of the claim, the consistency with previous memos such as the Downing Street and Manning memos that we received but I have no hard evidence in hand. I suppose I'll have to settle for "highly probable".

If you're popular with your customer base, proven that you have solid leadership ability and you have a good relationship with your suppliers who have shown a desire to work with you, I'd say your chances are pretty good. I'd say they were especially good if your only competitor for the job has spent the last few decades working for a bankrupt company, who makes decisions based on which way the wind blows and is hell bent on bringing with him the same corrupt cronies who were driving his company into the ground. -

No i was just joking. No you dont have to lie to answer the question. You can just ignore it! In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Does the oil fairy just wave a wand to refill the reserves or do they refill them from some other....oh.....what could I call it............ RESERVE? We're talking about a finite resource and the concept is very simple. If you don't use it then you STILL HAVE IT. Wow. Yes, and when you get all of the average morons in the country to fill up their tires, guess what. You save a significant amount of gasoline. And yes, we probably will soon get a President who is smarter than the average moron so you're in luck. Wow, now THAT's old school. And I thought the "old fashioned way" was to simply top off twice and do some simple math. But there's a neat thing they have these days. You might have heard about them. They're called "computers". And yes, they can monitor things like speed/acceleration/fuel flow etc., in real time and come up with avg mpg and estimated range for your remaining fuel. No, really. I'm serious. You should check 'em out. Apparently we are. Part of it is also because the speculators are looking for other places for their money but "supply and demand" is also playing a significant role. Why is it that "conservatives" seem to hate conservation? -

idrankwhat replied to someday's topic in Speakers Corner
Does this really deserve a response? 5% is 5%. And when your fuel bill has more than tripled over the last few years, 5% is significant. 10% is even more. As a "buis"man I'm sure that you're aware of that. It's not a dream. I just bought new tires about a week and half ago and didn't check the pressure. I monitor my mileage and I noticed that I had lost about 10% recently. I checked the pressure and they were about 15 lbs low. I pumped them up on the way home and guess what. I got almost 10% better mileage on the way home than I did on the way in. I didn't say they were but then this isn't the first time you've argued with yourself. I said they were warehousing leases. Right, and we're buying less. About 10 billion miles worth last May. It's evident that not only do you think that a salary bolsters your arguments but that emotion does as well. I hate to break it to you but typically the loudest person has the weakest argument. And if you'd take a minute to think about your answers instead of spouting off from the brain stem then not only could we have a reasonable discussion that stays on topic but you also wouldn't find yourself dangling from Billvon's fishing pole, destined for the taxidermist. -

I wouldn't completely dismiss it. Remember this? And it says Mr Bush told Mr Blair the US "was thinking of flying U2 reconnaissance aircraft with fighter cover over Iraq, painted in UN colours". If Saddam fired on them, the Iraqis would be in breach of UN resolutions, he suggested.

Ok, I'll admit that they are spelled differently. Same God, burning bush vs. burning meteorite, both times God picked a mountaineer to hand his rule book to. It's clearly the same MO. Gabriel supposedly spoke to Muhammad because Gabriel's previous messages were apparently either misinterpreted or just flat out ignored. And you know, I'm thinking that we're due for another visit from ol' Gabrielus. Abraham's kids STILL aren't paying attention.
