  1. I've always hated seeing videos that were shot in the middle of the day. This looks like a great solution, and one which uses surprisingly little power. Very cool, thanks for the tip.
  2. The obvious answer? Because they can think for themselves. which explains http://airamerica.com/. Liberal talk radio for lefties who can't think for themselves, by lefties who can't think. (not a slight on all lefties, just these) But it's not particularly successful, which supports my earlier point. It's sort of like putting a corn dog stand by the entrance to the PETA building.
  3. Now that's probably the cleanest setup I've seen. But what about securing the lcd? It seems like it might flip open if you ended up on your back.
  4. Because, for the most part, "libs" don't like loud, deliberate, misinformation, no matter who says it. Most "libs" that I know prefer peer reviewed literature, original sources and rational discussion to fallacious arguments.
  5. Hear Hear! One more vote for an Earth without borders!
  6. That made me smile and that's a hard thing to do today. Your composition is much better than his composure Thanks for sharing.
  7. I'd say that it depends on the nickname most of the time. "Shrub"? No problem. "Dickhead", I can see how that might imply a certain lack of respect. Now comes the hard one. What about "turdblossom" for Rove?
  8. Waiting on the chorus of denunciations we hear whenever someone uses a name like that for the current president.... Why? "Shrub" is the title of Molly Ivins' book that she wrote about GWB prior to the 2000 election. She said that it was the dictionary definition of "Arbusto", the name of a Bush family oil company. The name seems appropriate for a person who had nicknames for nearly everyone in his White House. Molly was a sharp one. edited to add list of nicknames
  9. I found what seems to be a pretty simple solution to fixing the CX100/Goldmember problem. It involves a drill, tap and nylon thumbscrew. Since the CX100's footprint is so small, the right 1/4 of the GM plate is exposed. The thumbscrew allows you to force the dovetail into a snug fit. Pics attached.
  10. Ok, I can see the difference now. Great ideas on improving the quality of the video for the student, and reducing snag potential at the same time. I've got a goldmember and my intention with the foam was to help support the lens a bit and hopefully knock out the vibration I seem to be getting with this camera. It's more pronounced than it was with the HC5. After I backed off the foam idea (which I may go back to now that you bring up a couple of reasons to) I think I've solved the goldmember slop problem. I'll post that elsewhere when I take a pic, even though it sort of (barely) fits in this thread. Thanks for the insight and a couple of good ideas.
  11. PharmerPhil, looking at the pics of your setup, I was thinking of putting a similar foam support in front of my CX100, under the 5050 pro. But then I noticed that it would interfere with the mic inputs. Are you using an external mic or does the foam simply not interfere as much as I think it will?
  12. I haven't had any problems with them but I don't use the service that often. I think they charge a bit too much when you sell on eBay but then again, I looked at it as the cost of doing a good business. I never would have gotten the price that I did for my last sale if I hadn't had eBay and Paypal. The auction ended late in the evening, I was paid within a half hour and my item was in the mail by 7:30 the next morning. You look at the what you're charged and think "damn, that seems like a lot" but I don't know of a more efficient option.
  13. I bought a Sony memory stick pro duo hg from them a couple of weeks ago. The price was good and I received the item in about 10 days. It came from China. I got an error message on my CX100 stating that there may be compatibility issues with the card. I haven't had any problems since then. The card seems to work just fine and the error message is gone. I'm on the fence as to whether or not I'll buy from them again. I got what I asked for with free shipping and it works so I don't suppose I have any reason not to try them again if the price is right. How's that for an endorsement?
  14. That's a nice clean setup there. And I like your flash mount. My only reservation would be the zip tie on the hypeye indicator.
  15. I don't have any idea where to find one. But thanks for answering the question I had last night while watching "Tandem Videos Made Easy". I was wondering what that was on top of the camera during the editing segment.
  16. Nicely done, and thanks for sharing it with us.
  17. Man, here I was being arrogant, loud mouthed, accusatory, conspiratorial, running on and on being a nonsensical, hypocritical political hack, and nothing. It was SC fodder at it's worst, and NOTHING! Thread dies out. Throw a little sex in the mix and BOOM! IT's ALIVE!!!!!!
  18. Nope, I've got the right guy. He was palling around with Ayers at the University of South Carolina. I really don't know why anyone would want their elected officials associating with that terrorist. I mean what's his real agenda for South Carolina or even this country? You say he's a "good old boy" who wants the government to "get out of your life". Doesn't that describe the segment of the electorate who are buying up all of the guns and ammo? Now he disappears into the backwoods for a few days. Who knows what he was up to? edited to add: Apparently he went out for a steak. Unless he re-remembers where he was yet again. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090624/ap_on_re_us/us_sc_governor_where_31
  19. Who IS the real Mark Sanford? He's someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect, imperfect enough, that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country. This is not a man who sees America as you see America and as I see America.
  20. I think it was fine for the State Dept to request the delay in upgrade. I don't feel that Twitter has to necessarily comply but they certainly should be able to understand the reason for the request. Also, there was a related piece on NPR this morning regarding Twitter and some "work arounds" that are popping up in response to Iran's crackdown on internet traffic. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=105572565
  21. Anyone had any experience with "Pro HG Duo"? I was thinking of giving these a shot. They claim better transfer speeds than pro-duo.
  22. Gingrich? I wouldn't necessarily call him "Kennedy looking". Wait, did you mean "played" or "preyed"? By the way, after taking a few days off from this thread I have to say that it hasn't risen above mere partisan hackery in the very slightest. Good job folks. Glad I could contribute. Bush sucks!
  23. Sounds reasonable. Sounds like he agreed as well. But now it looks like some think Obama needs to apologize for Letterman's gaff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGFGrzWedyA
  24. I agree. And I said the same thing when other,....ummm "entertainers" have done as much. Woof Woof. But "Letterman owes an apology to everyone in America"? Don't you guys think that's a bit of an over reaction? Comedians are going to tell tasteless jokes and I'm willing to bet that most people in this forum laugh their asses off at most of them. He stepped over the line in a misstep and apologized. To brand him as the shame of a nation is overkill.
