  1. I find it interesting who you choose to question. You question the person who got something wrong (sort of), investigated it, publically retracted it and apologized. You don't question those who got it wrong with evidence pointing to the fact that they wanted it wrong, and won't take any responsibility for the mistake.
  2. I remember the good old days when you could investigate a President over just about anything....like old land deals, or consensual sexual acts or travel receipts. You know, stuff that doesn't have anything to do with the American citizenry. My how times have changed.
  3. Nah. Diebold will be making the draft lottery machines. Their kids will be fine. Mine will be on their way to New Zealand.
  4. I love CASA exits! They're almost as much fun as an intentional cutaway!
  5. Don't forget Josh Bolton's five point plan to help Bush recover from his public image problem. This show of force and his address to the nation on this issue is step one of the five. 1 DEPLOY GUNS AND BADGES; 2 MAKE WALL STREET HAPPY; 3 BRAG MORE; 4 RECLAIM SECURITY CREDIBILITY; 5 COURT THE PRESS. Right now I see it as just playing politics. Let's see what the consensus is after the elections this fall. This troop deployment may go the way of the Balanced Budget Amendment.
  6. This is where the problem is. The spying supporters repeat the Bush claim that they're only after the terrrrrrrisssts and that this program is simply cross referencing numbers yadayadayada. What the anti-Bush crowd says is that Bush has been busted giving bogus information numerous times so why should this latest claim be any different? Spying on terrorists is one thing. Spying on American protesters is another thing entirely. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11751418/ So, I ask, why should I trust them when they've repeatedly shown that they abuse that trust?
  7. THAT was the big surprise for me. To block out the Justice Dept, the same department that's been running protection for the White House for the last few years, now that's noteworthy. As an aside, anyone check Qwest's stock today?
  8. A lot of Republicans disagree with you.
  9. fixed for accuracy... "Some politician"? Don't be afraid, you can say his name. He won't bite, but he might down a couple of cold ones and shoot you in the face
  10. Basically, our system of checks and balances has been reduced to Bush saying "just trust me" and "pay no attention to that man behind the curtain".
  11. Since I'm not trying to get elected to a political position, my issue is with the long term. Whoever is president next is screwed. Some of the tax cuts have helped the economy while other aspects are giveaways to wealthy donors. The main problem is the deficit. Greenspan warned us about that for about four years in a row. His warning about interest rates should feel strangely familiar after this week. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/04/21/AR2005042101518.html?nav=rss_business/economy
  12. Not when it's being quoted by his listeners.
  13. Exact Limbaugh quote, and total BS, by the way. Zipp0 Actually, that quote was originally attributed to Teddy Kennedy iirc when the left was bashing Clarence Thomas during his confirmation hearings. The quote related to Anita Hill's accusations. The exact quote was "It's not the nature of the evidence, but the seriousness of the charge that's important" - Regardless of who said it first, I think the appropriate response would be "Wha? You hittin' the pipe?"
  14. Exact Limbaugh quote, and total BS, by the way. Zipp0 Limbaugh, now HE would be a good choice for White House press secretary. He can polish a turd better than even Rove! Must be nice to be a ditto head. You don't have to worry about thinking. Just put your brain on record, disconnect from the logic center, and repeat. Ooops, sorry Bill. Will "ditto head" get me kicked out of the forum
  15. No, I do care. If you have some information that shows that Bush isn't violating FISA and that he can shut out the Justice Dept from investigating, then please post the information, but before you do please send it to all of the Democrats, Arlen Spectre and the rest of the Republicans who think it's illegal. It would save us quite a bit of money.
  16. Nothing is misleading about my statements, and if there are any lies then please, by all means site some specifics and enlighten me. I can back up, with multiple sources, each of my assertions. I get ticked off by this administration because things have gotten so bad that we're now being interviewed by the UN Human Rights Council regarding rendition and torture and countries like CHINA are sitting across the table pointing fingers at US! It's going to take decades for us to get the Bush stain off of our country.
  17. I think it's pretty simple. They're breaking the law, they know it and now they're worried about it enough to even shut out the White House's own Praetorian Guard...the Justice Dept. http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/05/10/domestic.spying.ap/index.html
  18. That's what you get when you cultivate fear, people willing to sacrifice their rights. (did anyone take a poll about Clinton getting a knob job?). Secondly, the NSA spying program is illegal and Bush is willfully breaking the law. If you don't like the law, you change it, you don't break it. Thirdly, the people who support this administration's actions deserve to have Hillary inherit the White House. They would just crap all over themselves when they realize that they gave her the rights to spy on everyone, send anyone she wants to prison without due process, torture them, break any law she wanted to, declassify information for political gain and answer to absolutely no one.
  19. What did he name his gun? I had to look it up. I thought it was Darlene but it's Charlene.
  20. That's the thing about this administration, and congress for that matter. There's a lot that's been simply "business as usual" but this group has elevated all that "business" to a new level. The corruption, the arrogance, the spending, the spying, the torture, the sabre rattling in the middle east, etc. And it's not just media hype about the spying. Bush has flat out said that the FISA laws (along with 750 others) don't apply to him. And it's gotten to the point that even his own Justice Dept. just got shut out of the spying investigation because the Justice Dept investigators aren't being allowed a security clearance. Seems to me like they're circling the wagons pretty tightly on this one. Can you make a circle with only one wagon?
  21. Me neither. Bush was never my first choice but the alternative would have been a lot worse. - How so? And while I can't be described as a Kerry fan, I'm pretty sure that he knows how to spell VETO .
  22. I'll just deal with the part that won't get me into a holy war. Good job, YOU have done well for yourself. Give yourself some credit.
  23. Lucky - what's up? the lefties don't get a -2 or a 0 to select? You are gonna get SO bashed by those guys......... If they get a -2 and a 0, I want a 11 and 13. The damn communists on here have no respect for our government these days. What happened to standing behind our president? Now it's "popular" and "cool" to go about slandering him calling a liar, an idiot, and so on. I want to know how much better these so-called "lefties" could do... I think if they had their choice they'd go about running our country like Mussolini and Stalin. I'm telling you, we don't need any of this. Cool home page, now, gird your loins, they're going to get you Don't worry. No going to get anybody. But I will certainly take this opportunity to ask his supporters "what good has he done", or the ever popular "are you better off"? There's plenty of negative stuff to list so by all means everyone, post a list of positives. I'll start, Bush has done an etremely good job of repaying his campaign contributors. Next!
  24. My god- finally an on topic posting. This thread has been lamer than usual. Instead of the usual circular bullshit, can we talk about the specifics here - AMT taxes and dividend income, along with Roth IRA changes? I think the AMT fix is only for one year. After that, who knows. This bill seems like a short sighted and basically something to tide these folks over until after the election. Most of what I've seen from these folks recently puts all of the actual load on the folks inheriting their offices, and us of course.
  25. I honestly don't know what to make of our current economy but then again, I'm not an economist. Stock market looks ok, but gold is soaring, the dollar is weaker, our national debt is up by almost $4 trillion and we're paying $2 billion/day on the interest, wages haven't improved dramatically, manufacturing jobs are disappearing (we just lost a Ford plant), we're paying higher health care deductibles, gas is twice what it used to be which means that we pay more for everything in the grocery store...I don't know man. I sure could use a little Greenspan crystal ball action on this one.
