Well I say that he climbed up, and the room, since we don't have the dimensions, I suppose it is only 3'x3', which is easy enough for a person to climb. He climbed, the got to the top and hung himself. I AM THE SMARTEST MAN ALIVE!

well he's speaking for me. Why shouldn't people be responsible for their actions? For the choices they make?

I agree that there's been that connection. To me, I see them more as a watcher. And when you're risking things, you life, you're likely being watched by something, somewhere. And should you go while being watched by one, you'll be delivered by it as well. I don't know how much stock I hold in that, but it is a nice idea. Part of it probably comes from the intelligence we see in them, the mystery, and how they're not afraid of us. They just show up and they just disappear. If I ventured in the slipstream; Between the via-ducts of your dreams.......could you find me?

I've always believed, to some extent, that ravens are a little 'weird'. Not in a bad way though. When I ski, and that's a lot, I often find myself out in the middle of nowhere and I can't count the times I've stopped and looked up to see a big black raven watching me from the limbs of some tree. I always say hello to the "old man" and carry on my way. Every raven I meet in the wilderness, hiking, skiing, canoing, kayaking, whatever, is the 'old man' to me. I've learned to imitate their call, to a not-bad degree (i think anyway, haven't asked one), and when I see one, I'll call out to it, and usually they'll answer. If I ventured in the slipstream; Between the via-ducts of your dreams.......could you find me?

huh good point. and I'm no chemist but I'd bet the materials for the payload would be just as easy to procure. Really though, the future for the US is going to be interesting.

Yup, and i don't really think that any amount of purchase tracking by some all-seeing system is gonna be able to peice that together as a potential threat. The only suspicious peice would be the gps board (wonder if it'll be as apt to get the Galileo location system from the EU as well). Makes you wonder then why, if it's clearly so simple to people with deterimination to get/build this, that your gov. is throwing so much behind data mining/analyzing systems like the Total (now Terrorist.... hey, that's catchy....) Information Awareness one. Seems like catching/addressing these people at the source of their determination would be a more effective strategy to me. I also agree, I'm more partial to daoism myself. In fact it was the first subject I ever studied that, to me, explained everything so articulately. the dao de ching (Tao te ching). That's some gooood stuff.

Lurch, I think you either are mis-informed of the strategy behind zen philosophy, or you're not quite getting it. The lack of desire is not what makes one empty, but what allows one to become whole. The change and growth that you mention are attainable through the zen method. In it, everything changes, everything grows and nothing is permanent. In accepting and embracing this, you're truly able to experience the raw nature of life. You're as alive right now as you're ever going to be. Don't confuse the life you have with the sensations it affords you.

how to find what you want... loss is one idea. Me, I side with vallerina, stop looking. Live your life as it presents itself to you and find happiness in the moments that you're lucky enough to experience. Focus on small things. By focusing on the small things, your mind will probably find joy in them, and as you focus on the things that you enjoy, you'll be led along a crumb trail to that which makes you happy. And if happiness isn't what you're looking for, or what you want in life, then I can't help ya.

2 hours each way.... to work. everyday. to the dz? hell it may as well be on the moon, haven't been there in so long I think the distance has changed due to the movement of the earth's crust.

I did that once. I was in a underground parking lot and this guy had his old VW bus parked in this spot for ages. So I sneak up to it at night, pop the back, and jack the battery. Finally, I get it back down to my car, jump it, and off to work! I picked another up on my way home, re-installed his, and no one was the wiser.....

Good post Lurch, I too have noticed the HD firing up while surfing and crunching away, etc, I'd be interested in hearing what some others have to say. -
New data on child deaths released--How involved are guns really?
Schroeder replied to mnischalke's topic in The Bonfire
I know people who have been raped, beaten, stalked, shot, and stabbed as well (not all the same person thank god...) I didn't mean to imply that the drive to protect yourself was based on paranoia, but rather that it's paranoia which is in part feeding the problem. However it's not, as I said earlier, the only factor. Just part of a big pressure cooker. -

I think wendy's on the right track with the education comment, it's a start, because (forgive my canadian opinion) the problem is societal and not so much with the guns. It's paranoia, education, violence, media, etc, alot of things that are all contributing. I keep hearing "to protect themselves" and really, I can't relate. I don't even know a single person (here in canada) with a mindset like that. The thought that someone out there is crazy and wants to kill you... sometime, just escapes me. I'm not trying to be sarcastic or condescending, but I really feel sorry for people who live under that weight. Then there's the camp of sport shooters, etc, which I've got no problem with, grew up with that stuff, hunting, etc, and it's legit. But the weapons for protection thing... Suggesting new laws, etc seems about as fruitful as two crabs in a pot trying to find a spot of water that's cooler than the rest. The only way outta the pot is to turn down the temperature, not find the 'just right' spot. Seems (to an outsider) that America's 'temperature' is too high. -

hahaha yeah.. sears..... good stuff. I used to build forts in every tree I could find, then try to erect rope swings between them. Sometimes my sound planning would go awry. Or, I'd make it my mission for saturday to get to the top of some ridiculously tall tree, so I'd go into the garage and find the biggest nails I could find (10" spikes), my dad's hammer, and some rope. I'd start at the base of the tree, pound a spike in, step, loop the rope around the tree, and to my waist, lean out, pound in another step, and keep going till I had to climb back down for more spikes. Man I'd hate to clear that lot nowadays.

Mine was me, taken a few years ago. I feel it captures the essence of me very nicely. Simple, yet mysterious, with a taste for the unknown.

haha yes, we have 2 'cultures' here. French, and English. Everyone else, chinese, east indian, european, south american, or otherwise foreign are promptly put in the back of trucks upon arrival, and (under the cover of night) smuggled in and deposited in your country. Here, we're all about 'naturalization' (what a word...), so it's either assimilate, or al-see-ya-later. I personally, quite like the health care, no problems with it, they treat me when I need it, haven't let me down so far. Do I think it's better than the american system, as a guy with limited education on the way you folks do it down there, well, I dunno. Oh, and "implies you have some feeling that they are better", really, I don't think so buddy sounds like a developing inferiority complex there....
