It was a truly bad movie. jen ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

At 18, my second and to this day most amazing lover I've known was more than 20 years my senior. We were exclusively involved for just short of two years. A simply amazing man. I thought he was great at the time. Almost a decade and a half (and a few lovers :) later, I appreciate who he was and what he shared all the more. It was my only relationship with a significantly older man, but ...WOW! jen ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

Ahhh, ice cream. The best food to enjoy ...twice. jen ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

I sure seem to read a seemingly disproportionate number of these: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1678712;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread If you factor out the testosterone driven swoopers who drive themselves into the ground, yes a disproportionately large number of women in skydiving die. BSBD, jen ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

I really don't know what is sadder, accepting that you are a young man with all the testosterone driven need to defend an untenable position in a manly way ...or that Americans really can move so far away from the basic principles this country is founded on that they really don't see a problem. Peace, jen ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

Nothing, by my estimation, but every time you submit to a drug test, are you not required to list all medication you are taking? If they have a list of your medications (viagra, in this case), they have a big chunk of your medical history. I'm just asking you if you feel your employer has the right to know you can't get it up at home? jen ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

This is a quote from a previous response earlier in this thread. "Proper documentation" being the key words. With the proper documentation, i have absolutely no probelm. As i said i have a lot of friends in law enforcement, and they visit me regularly, as my wife and i visit them as much. Neither them, or us have anything each other is not aware of, no big deal. That's pretty much the problem. Thirty years ago (actually, it was about 25), most citizens in the work place were not subject to what many of us consider unreasonable search and seizure. Times change. How bout if times changed and the constitution de jur says law enforcement could randomly knock on doors and search your home. I guess if you were born early in that period, you would accept that too. I'm truly saddened that you are unable to make the connection. As a society, we are all lessened by your (generalized 'your') lack of respect for what made this country wonderful. My observations from this thread topic and the responses that it drew from others surprised me. What i sensed was hostility that anybody with the thought anywhere near their mind to ask anyone to submit to a random ua is absolute BS. While i don't understand it, maybe i'm not supposed to. Then there were those of you who felt the same way for what ever your reason(s) I can only speak for my industry and my profession. As far as my sky diving activities are concrened i know who the people are doing things they shouldn't and i elect to stay away from these few and far between individuals. Your lack of understanding is contributing to the destruction of the principles this great country was founded upon ...congrats on the good work. In any event, i wish all here the best, regardless of who you are, where you stand on this issue. Thanks for everybody's participation. Now that, right there ...is funny!

Ok, we're beginning to build parameters. Let's say you have a job where you must demonstrate the ability to sit at a desk and move papers. Now, how bout if you were having some problems at home resulting in erectile dysfunction? Perhaps your concern over your limp noodle is creating some stress, anxiety and trouble sleeping? You seek medical attention for these problems. Would your employer have the right to this information on demand? jen ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
-
I don't agree with your arguments, but I would like to take a moment and express my happiness that you seem to have found, in your employer, a perfect match for personal philosophy ...a rare thing these days. Congratulations! jen ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
-
Understood, but I wonder how far does that go? How bout if you were forced to disclose your medical history to your employer upon demand? Would that be OK with you? jen ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
-
Well, OK, but would you mind stepping to the side so you won't hinder the efforts of those who are capable of seeing the connection.. I would submit to a drug test or any other search of my person or property if I were legally required to or felt there was sufficient reason to grant my consent. When they come knocking on your door, get back in touch, maybe, just maybe, it won't be too late to help. jen “This is how liberty dies. With thunderous applause.” – Padme Amidala ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

That's very odd. I've been in the petroleum industry for over 25+ years. I've taken at least 3 dozen drug tests, never any "false positives" no problems at all. The drill crews and other service hands are actually allowed xx nanograms etc...as administration representation for the company i work for it's "Zero Tolerance" for me. The current testing procedures and protocol, equipment etc...it would be pretty hard to screw up. Then if you refuse a urine test, you can always opt for blood to be drawn. I don't understand the retincy of the individuals in these forums to submit to drug testing. I can only deduce that refusal is an admission of guilt, and it is considered so in my profession. No test, no job. In any event, i just wanted to "check the pulse" as it were to see "who's who" If i were to take a drug test today they would find nothing more than DaSani drinking water. After all, recreation or not, would we want to board a jumpship with a "Stoned Pilot?" I think not. Fair enough. Then may I assume you would extend your philosophy to allow govt agents (or agents representing your employer) periodically entering your house just to look around? jen ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

Oh.. I'm sorry? Are you my keeper or something? I need to agree to little ole you's demands? Get a life. Lighten up, Francis. It was just a question as to whether or not the two of you would accept this poll to settle your wager. I may be going out on a limb here, but I'm gonna tentatively put you down for a "No" on this one. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
-
Why the heck should he, that's a crazy idea. The wager wasn't about opinion of self selecting voters in a biased poll, it was about the facts. Did you check the title of this thread? Oh, wait YOU wrote the title, with the intent of loading the question. I'm sure you wouldn't but it's clear you want Rhino to be seen as welching on a bet, in spite of the facts. My! You know, I had thought you a cold, unfeeling individual, but you're really quite ...emotional, aren't you? (OK, folks, what movie?) ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

23K? Make it 33K and I'm in! Given the choices, the copter is jump for me. jen ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

The facts have already decided. I find it fascinating that you have taken such an interest in something between billvon and I.. Fascinating... What prompted this thread from you? Well, I was reading this thread http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1674513;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread ...which referenced this thread http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=409555#409555 ...read down a few posts and thre it was for all to read (hardly a private wager now was it?). So, if you choose not to let the poll decide, fine but I don't see the need to try and change the subject and go on the attack. It makes you seem a bit ...cheesy, don't you think? The question remains, will you allow this poll to settle what seems to be a valid wager offered and accepted publicly ...or just blow hot air? I know I wouldn't want to be known as someone who welches on a bet ...but that's just me. ATFQ! jen I believe you specified the criteria to be met with this: ================================ rhino Mar 10, 2003, 10:17 AM Post #157 of 257 (301 views) Copy Shortcut Registered: Jun 3, 2001 Posts: 7403 Re: [nacmacfeegle] Where do you stand? Otherwise, many in the world, myself included, will view this action as illegal. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You may be right... After all is said and done hopefully amazing evidence is produced. Hopefully enough that when the U.S. and Britain say something needs to be done, no one questions our intelligence.. Rhino ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

OK, we got one snivel. How bout you, Rhino? Are you willing to let the poll decide? jen ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

How bout we give it till Sunday midnight? How bout it you two? Will you agree to allow this poll to determine the bet? jen ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

I try not to post in SC coz I get caught up in the debating too much, but that, right there, is priceless! You can lead a horse to water ...

If, after the war, Bush does not produce any substantial further evidence linking Saddam to Bin Laden, you contribute $100 to Veterans for Peace. If he does produce further evidence I'll contribute $100 to the charity of your choice. Deal? Huh? It was awful and I would not recommend it. Where does this shame stuff come from? jen ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

And here is something very suspicious: both Hal Holbrook and Jerry Harding have played Mark Twain. (Jerry in the "Time's Arrow" episode of "Star Trek - TNG".) I think it's a conspiracy. I think you're on to something. If you add up the number of letters in each name, they are within ONE digit of each other. :) jen "Did you know the (CIA) Deputy Director of Planning was down in Managua, Nicaragua the day before the earthquake?" ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

It would be wrong for me. I look at my friends and co-workers over the years and see that the movie I once so resented has validity. "You know women, mate. Like monkeys, they are - won't let go of one branch until they've got hold of the next." I know a bunch of women like that. jen ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

I got my copy at a used book store for 50 cents ...frankly, I overpaid. :( jen ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

Resentments, I think. Little things, effectively uncommunicated, growing, festering, detracting from the good and loving parts of us. Over time, these things, I think, become obstacles to letting ourselves free to enjoy what once was shared. Sigh. Yes, it's been a while. The memories are sweet, but it still been a while.
