Thats an interesting point. I'll be coming back after a three month layoff. Will I be current? It depends on what 'currency' is - I'm a low jump number recently-off-student-status person. Freefall wise, I'm putting in plenty of tunnel time anyway. My EP's will clearly need reinforcement, and my canopy work should be conservative, but what would I 'gain' from a 'coached' jump as recommended in the SIM? My 'stability' will likely be fine, as will my control. Are we concentrating on altitude awareness? (make at least one jump under the supervision of a USPA instreuctional rating holder (SIM Section 5-2, Recurrency Training))

This coming from the man who offered to coach me when few others would just for the "experience" (quote unquote). Tonto, I hope to still have your zest for this sport 20 years down the line.

Hi Mark! The winter layoff has had me out of action. I've had my rig sent back to Aerodyne for mods over the break, and its taking *forever* to get it back. Theyre saying another 2 weeks (from monday gone). Haven't jumped (or packed!) since december. On the plus side, I've jacked in the "day job" and am now a full-time tunnel instructor at Bedford Cant pack for shit still though - as John keeps telling me "even girls can pack quicker than me"

Have you spoken to Maddy? (DZ Sports)

I dont know the answer to this, so hopefully an experienced person will step in, but can you not just use a d-bag from something (say) one size bigger? IE, you want to fit a 120 in, so use that 120 with a 130 d-bag to "fill out" the container a bit more?

for the benefits of science and research, can you provide any photos?

He can't licence it? http://www.freshpatents.com/Skyhook-reserve-parachute-deployment-system-dt20040812ptan20040155153.php

For the life of me I cant find this photo anywhere. Does someone know its whereabouts? Photo is of a car bring driven out of a tail-exit something, no roof, with four jumpers sitting in it. They bail early, car impacts (obviously). Done in the desert somewhere iirc. Either my imagination has run wild with me, or im sure I've seen this somewhere! Ta in advance! Ross

Never set it off under canpoy, but goes off fairly regularly in the tunnel. Like you, made me jump the first time it happened.

Does your friend have a great deal of experience, and is he extremely current? -
My first tandem: Me: "What happens if the main parachute malfunctions?" TM: "I pull this handle, then this one, and the reserve parachute deploys" Me: "And what hapens if the reserve malfunctions?" TN: "Then whilst in freefall, we locate the DZ, specifically the riggers car, and aim for that"

Have you a webpage you got this from? Whats that in old money? 13ft by 20ft or thereabouts? Thats a reasonable size - should be very interesting to start seeing more tunnels in Europe and the impact that may have on who goes where for training

Looking at the photos, it looks like you left both canopies with their brakes stowed - is this the case? I'm just thinking out loud really - I've a slightly lower WL and harness inputs dont make a huge difference under one canopy, let alone two. I dont know how responsive attempting that would be in my situation.

Deffo the sky. I've got a good sit in the sky, but in the tunnel the small matter of a wall inturrupts me - maybe its just that I actually suck and the tunnel highlights that as i dont fall down the tube...

I stow my toggles on landing, along with uncollapsing my slider. It adds an additional 30-45 seconds. At the end of each day on the last packjob, I walk the twists out of the brake lines - removing at most 2-3 twists. Those are pretty intense. How can anyone ever let lines get in this condition? If someone cant even be bothered to stow their toggles or perform a 60 second job once a day on life saving gear...

Sorry, I meant I was wondering what your flying skills were already. IE, did you book a RW coach and are interested in learning better RW skills, or are your working on your head down?
-
Very cool Bit of a tight squeeze in there though
-
I'm a little biased towards Bodyflight in Bedford personally, but really pleased you had a good time! (for the record, Bodyflight have their own bunkrooms at £15 per night - pretty good value!) Post those pics.
-
What are you getting coaching on or have you just booked 'raw time'?
-
Yeah please - be interesting to see some 4-way action in Airkix.

Hi Buzz. If you were flying on Tuesday then the tunnels' normally closed. Were you flying in the evening too? I was there from about 6pm onwards. I think I met some of you guys! Pleased you enjoyed it! Ross

Hi Chris Contact bodyflight directly for coaching - Steve Hamilton has actually posted another thread here about free coaching he's offering in aid of charity if you're quick. Steve's your man for RW coaching.
