Nope. That's perfect. Thank you.

1st jump of the year = nice loop while deploying

You answered your own question when you said, "I checked the manouverability of the canopy with turns and flares it was ok, than I landed. " No. -
I do. Ever been on a radio and a student does something at 200' that's not part of the canopy flow plan cause someone "shared?"

Are you a good judge of character? (skydive related)
nightjumps replied to WrongWay's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
All the fundamental traits for the makings of a great canopy swooper. Ya know, after trying to predict which students are going to do well and which are going to do poorly for awhile now; I've given up. You can have folks do everything perfectly in class and shit the bed on the dive. Conversely, I've had folks scaring the shit outta me in class and me gritting my teeth on the dive wondering, "When is it going to turn to shit?" only to have them perform immaculately. -
Well, AD - you will continue to be frustrated, Unfortunately, it happens not only here, but the DZ as well. Enthusiasm converts to experience for the low man on the totem pole. Somehow, the mind converts 15 jumps as fifteen times the experience as someone with one jump and their enthusiasm to share an experience becomes advice. Best all can do on here or at the DZ is to ask those who are not Instructors to not act like one and to train students to ask someone giving them advice if they have their Coach or Instructor's rating Well, if they knew shit from a good grade of peanut butter, they would know the true money-maker is static-line/IAD.

The lines cascade to their proper attachment points with no interference from other lines or material. Kinda like what you look at when you're pro-packing. "A's" all going to the right place, B's, C's, D's, stabilizer clear, no material between lines, etc.

Noah, you're gonna have to take one of them hippos out and bring in a new one, ya got two males. You need a male and a female. Uh Uh!! You're God, you change one of them. C'mon, Noah, you know I don't work like that. Yeah well, I'm getting real tired of this. My neighbors think I'm crazy, my wife's complaining about my using the front yard to build this boat and have you seen the mess at the bottom of that boat?!?!? Who's gonna clean that mess up, me?!??! Naw, I ain't doing it, I tell ya what I'm doing, I'm taking the wife and kids to Florida for vacation, that's what I'm going to do. Just kidding Lord, you know me, always kiddin. Just you and me Lord, Right?

Still vying for that "Instructor's Forum" Bro?

Line order & line tension are the two primary components of a good pack job. A trash pack will work. Most of the time, people ensure the lines are running straight to their designated place. Canopies often taken on a certain "memory" and over time a good shake, visual check and a proper wrap wll allow the canopy to open. Having said that, I don't trash pack. But I have placed a round canopy in a grocery sack, "S" folded the lines on the top of the grocery bag and someone jumped it (they were doing the intentional cutaway) for their Strong rating) and it worked fine. I still do a proper pro-pack. But most of all; ensure that line order & line tension is correct. Especially on my tandems. Have about 150 to go to hit 1,500 jumps with no reserve rides.

I'll take one of each.

Hey Mick, Here's ALL the threads regarding the Reflex. ttp://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=search_results&search_forum=all&search_type=AND&search_string=reflex Don't know if you remember me, but you built me an M-Flex (Navy & Gold) about 5 years ago thru LM at the gearstore @ elsinore.

Yes, ID's are checked. I lost two tandems yesterday because they were under 18. As a Private Pilot, you would make for a great AFF student. You've already got landing patterns down. Consider finding an Accelerated Freefall Dropzone and making your first jump this weekend.

At the WFFC each year, every evening is the Anvil Brothers no suit, no stress, sunset load. We Anvils (with no suits) are usually the base and everyone else dives the door and tries to catch us. Ask any of those who have participated; it is one of the funnest dives at WFFC. Great way to close out a day of skydiving.

Ditto... 265ish out the door

You have any release paperwork from the Doctor that states, "When able to jump on that foot with no pain, can go back to regular activities?" If he does ground you, there worst that happens is you go show the Doc, get a "normal activities" document and jump next weekend. That's all I ask from most folks.
-
AS long as you meet the doctor's criteria for jumping, why not?
-
Beat me to it.

Now multiply this by twenty. And, if you damage something, multiply it by fifty. Hope you feel better soon.
-
Ya know, if you quit saying that you could earn an extra 36k/annum.

Ya cracks me up. If someone challenged ours, would it be in jeopardy of getting blown out of the sky?

What is the best pack medthod for a huge canopy
nightjumps replied to cvfd1399's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Flat Pack Only I would recommend against rolling and stuffing the nose in the center cell. You can easily have a >1000' snivel. If you dump at 3k, you really want to find yourself at 1,800' wondering "if?" Tell you what, you get really good at flat-packing and you can pack them just as fast as a pro-pack. Everytime I pack mine, I crack up. Seems like it takes twice as long to get the bastard in the pack tray and closed up than it did to pack it. Really, please consider flat-packing it. It can be pro-packed, but its a hassle. I'm 6'6" and everything beyond the "C" lines drags the ground. -
Your profile says 1200 jumps?

The weight rating on Type 17 mini risers can be 175, 200 or >200 . Look at the inside at the bottom ring. If it has an extra piece of shiny Type 3 reinforcing tape... then it is rated for more than 200 pounds. Having said that, I am working off old information and have asked a couple of folks about any recent changes in weight limitations for either type 17 risers or mini-rings. If anyone would chime in, it would be appreciated.
