RW full-face helmet for contact lens wearer
nightjumps replied to Nightingale's topic in Gear and Rigging
Been using the Z-1 for a long time with no contact problems. -
You win. Big GMC and really really awesome RV. That's the biggest vibrator I've ever seen
-
Actually, the fifth wheel flat plates in the bottom of the bed (not the hitch itself) can be sprayed also and look like part of the bed. Depends on the RV

I can't help but wonder if Aggie Dave's vehicular aphrodisiac book mentioned that it must be a big Dodge, Ford or Chevy truck that looks like it can climb a building. Food for thought - You say you're going to keep it for awhile, but don't mention your intentions of use. The spray-in liners require the paint be scuffed prior to application and the process can take anywhere from 1 - 2 days. An alternative might be to place a rubbermaid-type liner in the bottom for awhile for around $80.00. When and if the truck bed gets scratched up enough that you feel it has become unsightly; you may then want to spend the $300.00 or so for the spray-in bedliner which could be a couple-three years out or prior to resell or trade-in.

Not retrain; but you will need to go thru a "Refresher." Talk to the Instructors at the DZ to ascertain the specifics of what they'll require. -
Well, I don't know how they do it down under, but at our local DZs - if you purchased a ticket, but made did not schedule, you're entitled to a full refund. If you purchased the ticket AND made an appointment, you get a refund minus $50.00.

Well, not necessarily for "eons," it was the early '70s. -
Speaking of Privacy, Terrorism, et. al...

For years, I have been concerned with those in the military wearing their Social Security number on their dog tags. In today's information age, a U.S. POW could be placed under extreme duress if his/her captors traced the SSN to their family and used that information for coercion. I've written to my Congressman, albeit to no avail. It would not be hard for DoD databse to have two primary index keys - one your SSN and the other your "assigned" number. The U.S. would know who you are, but the bad guys would only have a nondescript general number that would not be traceable through information technology [unless they hacked into DoD computers - and I'm thinking with their budget, they should have some great encryption shit.] Your thoughts? -

Low number jumper intro, and questions (long)
nightjumps replied to mnealtx's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
This is not going to happen. The most you will get is on the same load. It's a safety issue. 20 jumps and 9 years is the same as starting over. No AFF or Tandem Instructor that I know of is going to let you guys get anywhere close. -

Kay, You bring up a point about line length from the last stow to the risers. Another factor in the symphony of on-line speculation could be if you are placing that excess directly under the reserve container, rather than at a 45 degree angle down towards the bottom of the pack tray. If that excess line is tight under the reserve tray, that too could cause a spin-up. At this point, I would suggest you "shake it off" and at your next opportunity get with a rigger and review your methodology about the stows and line slack from last stow to risers and my earlier response regarding the possibility of placing the D-bag straight up and down in the main pack tray. There is one other thing to consider. You can do everything right and still sometimes... shit just happens.
-
There could be a symphony of speculation. The first one that comes to mind for me is line stows too large (or the last line stow too long) which caused the bag to "kick off" in a spin. You didn't necessarily pack a malfunction. It sounds as though the student properly treated it as one since she could not perform her "clear alls" (SOP's). For future consideration, when you rotate the bag in the main pack tray...If you have to pull the bottom of the main pack tray over the stows to get it in the bag; the stows are too long. Another consideration is to see if the D-bag will fit in the main pack tray while straight up and down rather than rotating the D-bag.

There is a difference between "sexual harassment" and "hostile workplace." If you jump the gun on the wrong allegation, a new and different allegation will appear as a disgruntled employee.

Door Drills. PHASE I 1. Walk up to any door. 2. Place your feet approximately 18 inches from the door. 3. Leaving your feet in place; place your pelvic only on the door. 4. Arch with your arms 90/90 5. Head back looking at a point approximately 18 inches above the door frame. PHASE II 1. Place a mark on the wall to the right of the door frame and 3 feet up from the ground. 2. Step to the right of the door facing the wall about 24 inches from the right door frame and 24 inches away from the wall crouched down below the 3 foot mark. 3. Practice jumping from there and sticking your feet and pelvis as defined in PHASE I. Rinse Repeat.

Trouble controlling vertical freefall speed
nightjumps replied to freeasabird's topic in Safety and Training
This is not uncommon and can be frustrating. It is both a matter of timing and body position. The boxman position with a rental suit is probably not helping. I really encourage you to get with an Instructor or Coach and have them teach you how to "stairstep" down. You can read ten things on here and all of them good, but spend ten dives trying each one when there has to be someone who's seen you, your body position, fallrate, etc. that can modify and tweak you to making it in just a jump or two. Good Luck. -
No longer online. You'll need to contact Jesse Rodriquez at skydive monteray bay

Please elaborate. Are you talking about AFF for students over the course of several weekends, AFF for students on an installment payment plan, an AFF Instructor's course over two of three weekends?
-
Nothing dumb about it. They'll work great while you explore suit and discipline options. You have like the longest "A" License number on the planet, what's up with that? Did you get it in 2027?
-
Well, I'm gonna call Bill and tell him to make SURE and give you a low number now.
