Libertarians are generally disgruntled Repubs. They are supposed to stand for small government and maintain individual rights. I think we need more taxes that go to social reform, welfare, education, medical aid, etc.... We are so far behind the world and a Libertarian would try to all but eliminate social programs. To me, Libertarians live in this fantasy world where the church is going to wave a majic wand and heal everyone. I have yet to see real answers to social issues from the Libertarians, but I am not an expert on them. I think you are entirely misinformed

41 Taliban Killed in Intense Fighting
warpedskydiver replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
41 Taliban Killed in Intense Fighting By RAHIM FAIEZ, Associated Press Writer 2 hours ago KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - Afghan security forces backed by coalition helicopters attacked a suspected Taliban hideout in southern Afghanistan, setting off an intense gunbattle that killed 41 rebels, a provincial governor said Saturday. Six Afghan police officers also died in Friday's fighting in Sangisar, a town 25 miles southwest of Kandahar, said Asadullah Khalid, the provincial governor. Nine police and several militants were wounded. "Acting on intelligence reports that Taliban have gathered in Sangisar to plan an attack in Kandahar, we launched this operation Friday and the fighting continued from morning to evening," he said. Khalid said security forces were pursuing Taliban fighters who fled to a nearby village. He said security forces had seen the bodies of 41 rebels but had only retrieved 11. AH-64 Apache helicopters provided by coalition forces fired rockets to support Afghan forces on the ground, said U.S. military spokesman Lt. Mike Cody. He declined to comment on casualty figures. An Associated Press reporter in Sangisar saw helicopters launch missiles but couldn't see if the barrage caused casualties. Taliban insurgents have stepped up attacks on coalition and Afghan forces, threatening the country's development and progress toward democracy. Coalition forces have been particularly disturbed by an increase in suicide attacks. Fighting has escalated in recent weeks as spring weather has melted snow on mountains passes used by militants. On Friday, a roadside bomb killed three Afghan soldiers in eastern Khost province, and a suicide car bombing wounded three British troops in the southern province of Helmand. Also this week, coalition and Afghan forces launched a major offensive, dubbed Operation Mountain Lion, in eastern Kunar province where militants from Taliban, al-Qaida and other groups are active. The difference is "positive vetting". right through your skydiving career, from turning up at the DZ on day one, right through to the jump you did yesterday, you have been assessed by instructors & your peers. Had you not proved your competence & responsibility in skydiving then you'd still be jumping student kit, or not invited onto a jump, or even told to "TUG" (Take Up Golf)! You're "vetted" in almost all aspects of your life: Skydiving; Promotion at work; Driving; Credit applications... And you've repeatedly proven that you're NOT the lowest common denominator entirely through these vetting procedures. But until there's some similar vetting on gun ownership to weed out the stupid & irresponsible - some way for you as an individual to prove your sense, intelligence & competence with a firearm, then there'd be no option other than to treat the overwhelming majority of gun owners the same as the idiots! Perhaps an answer would be for The National Parks Service to vet campers and be prepared to issue a very limited number of firearms carry permits for defense only. Mike. those words I higlighted in BOLD type are not RIGHTS under the US Constitution...nice try to blur the issue though. I understand what you are saying but that is not the LAW of the land... and should not be

I think we all know what needs to be done here... if not PM me I am very sorry for your loss and I offer my condolences... If anyone here thinks I can become a little aggressive at times, just imagine what I am thinking now. I would be entirely in favor of torturing this POS until he screams and cant let out anymore sound, then make him wait for the end, that will come very, very slowly. Hey Wingnut I think that asshole just got recalled by the manufacturer. No Jail needed since they actually have the right guy.

6-Year-Old Girl Dies in Tenn. Bear Attack By Associated Press 3 hours ago BENTON, Tenn. - A bear attacked a family at a camp site in the Cherokee National Forest on Thursday, killing a 6-year-old girl and injuring her 2-year-old brother and mother, authorities said. The attack took place near a pool of water on Chilhowee Mountain, said Dan Hicks, spokesman for the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. Witnesses described the bear picking up the boy in its mouth while the mother and other visitors tried to fend it off with sticks and rocks, Hicks said. The mother was injured before the bear was chased away. The girl ran away during that attack, but was found dead a short time later with the bear nearby. A park ranger fired at least one shot at the bear before it bolted off. The woman and her son were flown by helicopter to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, where both were being treated for wounds consistent with a bear attack, Hicks said. Hospital officials did not immediately return calls for comment, but Hicks said the boy was listed in critical condition. The victims' names were not released. Forest Service employees, TWRA game agents and several hunters were searching for the bear in an area spanning several thousand acres. The 640,000-acre park runs along the southeastern Tennessee border with North Carolina, southwest of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Quote why do people refuse to carry a gun? I mean take your vacations and everything but why bring small tasty defenseless morsels like children out to a place where bears go for lunch? No they are not cute fuzzy dogs I do not hunt bear but I would certainly kill one for eating a child...or most adults.

You're prone to a bit of hyperbole aren't you? Hey, you forgot my fries.... GET HIM!!!! heheh ok then heres another alternative... The TSA tries to do this and the response could politely be NO we won't leave him with you and no you can't stop us here and now unless you are willing to arrest the entire unit. Even if they do place all of them under arrest what will come of it?...probably nothing. What do you think happened with the TSA screener who detained the Marine like a common criminal? I bet absolutley nothing happened but a pat on the back. How many people slipped by while they were busy with this guy? -

As a veteran of a long ago war....let me say this, Gawain went and did his job....honorably, and paid a very high price. If the poster of this assinine and inapropriate question ( for this forum anyway) really wants an answer.....go look Gawain up and ask him to his face. bozo USN nah let Max rest, the poster who seems to be having a problem with normal thought can come and talk to me about it, and I will counsel him properly on the matter. -

Watch List Delays Reservist's Homecoming By Associated Press Wed Apr 12, 8:08 PM MINNEAPOLIS - A Marine reservist returning home after eight months in Iraq was told he couldn't board a plane to Minneapolis because his name appeared on a watch list as a possible terrorist. Staff Sgt. Daniel Brown, who was in uniform and returning from the war Tuesday with 26 other Marine military police reservists, was delayed briefly in Los Angeles until the issue was cleared up. The other reservists arrived at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport as scheduled, but instead of immediately meeting their families, they waited on a bus for Brown. "We don't leave anybody behind," 1st Sgt. Drew Benson said. "We start together, and we finish together." Brown, 32, arrived more than an hour later. He had also had airport trouble when he was trying to go to Iraq _ and he missed his plane then as well. "A guy goes over and serves his country fighting for eight or nine months, and then we come home and put up with this?" he asked. Nico Melendez, a spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration, said Wednesday he could not confirm or deny whether someone was on a watch list. He said Brown's case should have been fairly easy for the airline to clear up in Los Angeles. "It should have taken 10 minutes," he said. "We do regret that an American hero was inconvenienced."Quote His entire platoon should have stomped the TSA to within an inch of their lives... maybe then the TSA would understand -
Retired US Iraq general demands Rumsfeld resign
warpedskydiver replied to stoneycase's topic in Speakers Corner
That man sat down next to me in my hospital room and talked with me and my family for nearly an hour. I have tremendous respect for him. He is a truly honorable man and soldier. His deputy, Vice-Chief, General Cody is also held in good regard by many, especially many from the 101st (since he commanded it once). I hold him also with great respect, having seen me the day before General Schoomaker came in. What a week that was. A few days later, I also got to meet Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld a short while later. There was no picture taking (other than that from my wife) and his wife also attended. He wanted to see a lot of people that day, but our talk was still nice, despite the short visit. His character, in my short assessment, genuine, honest, and hard working. exactly what he is...he may in retrospect be the best Sec Def we ever had and people are shitting on him....I think Pete Schoomaker is a great sucessor -
