Interesting, because I do have Plantars fasciitis now. This has been going on for several months. -

This sounds logical, I do not know how they determined that there was no clot, I did not get a doppler. I was told they did a blood test and that was negative? I am unaware there was a blood test for clots/blockage. I do however wonder if there is a possiblity that the large nodule produced by the tear of the Achilles is putting pressure on a vein or a few of them. Although I am 25lbs overweight I would not consider that obesity, nor do I present in both legs. The onset of this coupled with the injury is quite telling that there must be some sort of involvement. -

I will say that there are people who refuse to see the answers that failures and sacrifices that are so tragic have provided. The worst wars in the history of the world were exacerbated by the fact that the other nations were not prepared and therefore could only muster a token response. WWI the allies were grossly under trained and ill equipped. WWII same thing, only a bit worse. Korea, same thing again, MiGs vs Prop driven planes, After every great war there is a large segment of society that believes we do not need a military and therefore spending should be cut, standing armies eliminated, training done away with etc. After each war we got rid of the sniper program, the politicians were only too happy to pander to the whining public. We always seem to get caught with our pants down. After Viet Nam we were hit with Asymmetrical warfare, were there lesson that were not learned? We need to get our heads out of the sand and our collective thumbs out of our asses. The only time we get attacked is when there is a weak underbelly to invite those who think they can pull it off. Whether it be annihilation, suing for peace after gaining territory, breaking political will (easily done), turning public sentiment (easy), or just causing damage we will always have those who say it cannot happen again. I was involved doping OPFOR years after my active duty was over, the reason was that I could assemble a small team of people who were both dedicated and trained. That is not different than what we face. Hell even a cruise missile is easily done with very little money.

Thanks for serving! I disagree about #6 shot but to each their own. Please do not use #6 in combat Know why they don't have any in Iraq? We are not hunting tweety birds.

Relax it is the VA. I know I need to be seen but that is actually fast in the ortho clinic. I saw him last week. There are other guys ahead of me plus one female with mangled limbs, they need help far worse than I do. It is not like I got blown up or something. Thanks for your concern though. -
Where have you been, I thought the yardies got you and dragged you off to either be knackered or to a pig farm!

To assume any country, group, cell or individual is not smart enough to exploit weaknesses, or circumvent security measure is absurd. I think there are many in our government that lack the imagination of those who would truly understand how to cause great harm, or defeat a country in battle. If anyone ever studied the history of warfare you would find that Asymmetrical attacks over a prolonged period of time will eventually weaken the resolve of even the toughest opponent. One only has to realize that in order to prevail the will of a country's politicians and populace must be broken. We as a country, our Military planners, our various Spec Ops entities, and many scholars understand this and study this aspect constantly. To fail to plan, is to plan to fail. This is not only true today but true going back before recorded history. It always has been and always will be true.

I was wondering if any of you Docs or Medical personnel would be able to shed light on why lower leg would start swelling so badly weeks after a Torn Achilles? It has been doing this since March and getting worse. The Achilles is not healing well, but the swelling is just absurd, the leg is purple and requires a TEDS. Some pulsation or thumping feeling is felt at times in the leg. Blood clots were ruled out. I understand what the veins do to constrict and make the blood move out of the extremity. Any ideas? Yes I have a Dr. he is a former Demo Jumper as well. He does not know exactly why either, next appt. 6 weeks. -
I salute anyone with the balls to do for others what they would never dare do for themselves. Being a Veteran I never go a day without thinking about how much has been sacrificed so we can live our lives out relatively free.

I just have an old 1992 GSXR1100N. I think it can get to the speed limit. 155HP

I agree with Your assessment and Scott's. I stand by my opinion, it is not something I just pulled out of my ass. I have shot at walls, doors, cars, and nearly anything else you can think of. I tested on carcasses and other items as well. I have not used shotgun in combat, I carried one on occasion but that was it. So my answer still stands, and yes with a pattern as large as 3" I am confident I know who I would be shooting. I cannot think of why people assume they will shoot their own family, I know what I am shooting at and my family or friends would be on the floor. Nobody is going hold them up when they go limp with just one arm. Some of you watch too many movies.

I like animals far better than humans. I do not have many friends, the ones I have are worth the effort.

My friend carried a shotgun for three tours in Vietnam 1967-1970 1st CAV. 101 ABN He is old now and still has a shotgun on a coat hanger with his robe over it. God help any intruders, they may as well shoot themselves. He probably used it more than anyone I ever met in order to kill attackers. Shoot through the wall with sufficient energy to stop the fight.

I have a Moss 12 in my safe that my uncle gave me. Shot about a box through it and never shot it again. I hate that thing. Kicks like a mule! Thats the only problem I have with it is the recoil on it. It's really bad. Can't remember what model it is and I am to lazy right now to open the safe to look. Get the limbsaver recoil pad, you will like that shotgun
-
If I look now and they see me, the look on their face is like they think I am some old cripple. Oh well...

The Mossberg 500 is even more ergonomically efficient. The safety is where it should be

I suggested a used gun because 1. It is a proven runner. 2. You are going to modify it anyways 3. Cost effective 4. No wait just pay and walk out. get extra mags for the Saiga, as many as you can get your hands on. Buy no less than a case of ammo at a time. Practice with what you are really going to use. Pattern it at the distances reflecting what the actual scenario is. Practice loading and unloading until it become a reflex. A combat reload is where you use your off hand to take a magazine and hit the release with it then rock the new one in. Do not use a laser get a light with a Cree p4 and a very tight beam. The beam will be so tight at the range you are engaging at that it will act as a sight, and identify who you are firing on.
