  1. The Canadian theory has been brought up a couple of times, I certainly wouldn't discount it. It fits (some theories) in a number of ways (French, area, military cooperation with US, etc). (btw, off topic, I should probably mention i have very little experience hiking in snow. i should probably have used beach sand which is most certainly a bitch to hike in with a rig and weight belt...on a hot summer's day...but i digress) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  2. Landed out and had to walk 5 miles through the snow back to the DZ been away for a day and came back to find something like 5 new pages of posts... akin to hiking 5 miles through the snow, uphill, with a rig on your back and a full weight belt still trying to absorb the stuff!! 3. from what i understand it's quite removed from disneyland...! Have you seen "Tommy"? From what I understand the holiday camp in that was modelled on Butlins. haha - Snow and his connections - look: Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  4. do Americans know Butlins?? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

  6. Westmoreland's name has come up a few times in discussions about Nam here. In Prison Break there was a character called Westmoreland. In the storyline, he was actually DB Cooper. I'm just sayin' .... Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  7. Interesting, Jo, seeing as YOU started the DB Cooper discussion threads here. Take the tinfoil off please. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  8. Oh my... it's been staring us right in the face all this time! Hoover knew who Cooper was! He died only 6 months after the hijacking. The timing makes it obvious. He found out and was eliminated. The Conspiracy exists. (Orange1 exits stage left, peering nervously over her shoulder.) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  9. Yeah: - does HE think Cooper sounds like a Nam vet? - does he have any opinion as to who Cooper was? - if he was in Nam around the time does he know anyone who was on leave or AWOL at that time? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  10. ... it was meant as a compliment and i took it as one, and moved on to the next post...and didn't think anything further of it till i came to your post on it! Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  11. Maybe he thought it would be stupid to jump with a tie so left it behind. Occam's razor. No "message". Very interesting idea. The innocent-naive Cooper. Fits with Larry's theory. Sadly, the tie can't talk. Neither innocent nor naive, necessarily. Stunts aside, skydivers wouldn't jump with ties. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  12. One of the best books ever written. (Not up for debate ) (For Snow: a post that is completely off topic but is in response to another.) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  13. Maybe he thought it would be stupid to jump with a tie so left it behind. Occam's razor. No "message". Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  14. Africa's a big "neck of the woods". Why did you assume Angola? CIA were active there, but were active in many places. I'm not sure how much is CIA vs "American" but most of the local resistance groups to Marxist revolutionaries were supported by the US (including eg Renamo in Mozambiwue, Unita in Angola etc). (This ended up putting the US and the apartheid government on the same side of course.) I was at university with a girl from a Portugese family who had lived in Mozambique when she was a kid. When liberation came and Frelimo took over, she said they literally fled - left everything behind except a suitcase of clothes and took the train to South Africa, hoping all the while they would reach the border in time. Scary days for some people. I doubt they had any CIA connections though! Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  15. Thanks Bruce re the Bradon info. Some of you will recall that I did mention Africa as a place a lot of dollars could disappear into forever... there were certainly a number of US soldiers who did both SE Asia and Africa (as dd the CIA of course...anyone surprised that the CIA would be involved in the assassination of leaders needs to read some African history. You can start with Patrice Lumumba of Congo.) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  16. I laughed out loud when i saw the last sentence because of course i was already envisaging a model with persistency effects and dummy variables and whatnot Even if someone else was prepared to go through all the posts and assign numerical values to the subject (1 for Cooper, 2 for random, 3 for new angle, 4 for response to previous thread, etc) I'm not sure I would have the time - or inclination frankly - to put it all together. Even if it would be fun seeing how the forecasts thrown out by the model panned out in due course Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  17. we don't do baseball here 377...honestly, i can't even be bothered responding to what is in that post of Jo's. It is yet another one in the long line of "i know but can't tell". When Jo is able to present a shred of evidence, I'll take note. Do I expect that to happen? Based on past experience..not on your life. In fact if anyone is prepared to run a book on this, I might consider placing a bet for the first time in my life Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  18. Maybe not quite the method you are referring to, but I did it once by not keeping stable during the opening sequence, I was probably 0.85 WL - hectic twists that i finally got out of just above my hard deck. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  19. Neither have they spent 2 years (or whatever it's been) posting teasers, leaps of logic and fanciful conspiracy theories here... Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  20. It's all trivial, until the day you show proof. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  21. Hey Safe, nice to see you around again. Jo, I've lost count of the number of times you claim to have "proof" of something. Let's see it. In fact if it has fallen into your lap and is all verifiable as you say... what are you waiting for? Still waiting for reference on that report you claim to have by the way. 377 still being the voice of calm & reason round here... Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  22. Jo, about this elusive picture: Jumpsuits can be ordinary coveralls. Did the picture show parachute gear? if so, how do do you know it was parachute gear and not some kind of pack used by ground fire fighters? I have found zero evidence that state prisoners were recruited, trained or used as smoke jumpers. I am keeping an open mind, but so far no evidence has been presented to me to support your claim on this issue. 377 ditto, i also looked. Jo, when you find the report please let us know the references to look for. no comment on the rest, for obvious reasons. 377, I don't believe I have ever threatened to leave. But there are plenty times when i just don't read posts by certain posters... Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  23. Something tangible?! Well then Jo, please tell us - what report, who wrote it etc? Its not in the database of military jumps, the only night jumps I could find before Asia were SL jumps. Please give us a proper reference at least, if you have something there there is no need to waste hours searching on the net through all the other stuff... Thanks...
