  1. Houston I believe was #7 on the list, and this after giving shelter, food, medical to over 25,000 homeless.
  2. > We didn't have easy kids. We were definitely not lenient with them. I doubt we were any more patient with them than in any average family, possibly less so. They weren't allowed to do anything unsafe, or to mouth off at us or other adults, we were very strict with homework and grades, they had to clean their rooms, they had plenty of chores around the house, they had curfews, they didn't have $$ allowances but had to earn their spending money, we taught them never to smoke, we taught them about the realities of alcohol and drugs, we were very strict about who they rode in cars with as teens, we monitored what friends they hung out with and forbade them from associating with creeps, etc., etc. We punished them no less than any other parents, more so than many. Wish my sister in law followed your example or at least something better than doing nothing when raising he two boys. Neather of which completed the 9th grade. All I could do not to beat the *&^%*#@ out of em when they would talk back to their mother and telling her to shut the F up. She would get very angry if someone tried to intervene in her behalf. Both have been in and out of jail with the younger one in the Big House for 5 years due to robbing homes and businesses to support a Meth habbit. The older one, has it seems done a little growing up and is currently employed. But his first offence was beating the crap out of a 65 year old women who refused to let go of her purse. Some intervention, i.e. (belt to the butt) early on would have gone along ways. I'm sorry to say but the younger one is a danger not only to himself but to the public.
  3. Well this is good news, I can rest peacfully knowing he recieved a just punishment for his crime. (Next)
  4. Two come to mind. At age 19, biked with my older brother to Estes Park Co. to our family cabin we had at the time just out side of Estes over looking the YMCA of the Rockies. Took us 13 days to make the trip, my mother was a nervous wreck, so our dad drove us home. I think it took about a month for my legs to stop hurting. 4 day round trip from Houston to OR. to pickup an RV-7A Kit Plane. Nothing fun about that.
  5. I'm sure there are several ways to raise children, I raised my three girls much the same way I was raised. I do think they got away with far more than I did when growing up but they were daddy's little girls. We had defined rules of the house and chores that were required of us when growing up. When we were worned to stop a certain behavior my father would make several attempts to get us to settle down and would tell us if we continued he would whip us or ground us to our rooms. If it came to a whipping my father reminded us, "What did I tell you would happen if you continued to misbehave" and we would respond, "you would spank us" Yes and thats what happened. Learned early in life that there are consiquences to your actions. If parients are unwilling to discipline their children in an effective way that brings about proper manners and respect for those around them, then society usually disciplines them in the court system.
  6. Wendy, It seems you left him with a deep hurt/squished his heart Go for it, it will be the best job you ever had line might help. If he takes it you and your current boy friend can join the witness protection program and go into hiding. Yea sounds a little crazy but think of it as an adventure. Good luck and get an unlisted number, and some mace.
  7. Possible new law in the United Kingdom will prosecute parents/or who ever disiplines children from time to time with spanking i.e. smacking I believe is the term used in England. Conviction can carry a jail term up to 5 year. Spanking/Smacking gets you up to 5 years in England. Sexual assault of a small child over a period of 4 years in Vermont gets you 6 months. Wire Taps and monitoring terrorist within and out of the US is a Constitutional crisis. Kennedy authorizing Wire Taps of Martin Luther King was OK. On a lighter side Why does a slight tax increase cost you two hundred dollars and a substantial tax cut saves you thirty cents? In the 60's, people took acid to make the world seem weird or just to say the word WOW backwards, but take Prozac to make it normal. I don't know, but it all seems a little wacked.
  8. I drive both, but lets get to the "...my beau's motorcycle..." part. Has he not popped the question yet?
  9. Yea, kind of messed up, but since I'm a product of public education sometimes pictures help. I'll forgo the pictures from your current story but maybe in the furture you could provide some photos on furture stories.
  10. That was a nice read, to bad it did'nt come with pictures. Hell how is someone suppose to read without pictures?
  11. Lets find out if he was innocent first before we get all wound up. If in fact he was innocent we can compensate the family for their loss say no more than the 911 victims families recieved sence our government has exstablised the value of a human life. But we do have many on Death Row with video record of their crimes of murder. They should receive a fast pass to the front of the line to receive the Happy Juice. I'm very much in favor of the Death Penalty, because in Texas if you commit First Degree Murder and convicted you stand a very good chance of getting the Juice. (To me that is a deterent, and we move em through much faster than any other state) But hey I'm just a little fella, what do I know.
  12. >...even TeddyK and Bobby Byrd. Byrd...your not talking about the KKK Byrd are you?
  13. I believe the story broke because a mining supervisor or someone located in the command post over heard radio communication that the rescue team said, "We found them!!". With that small amount of information he made a cell phone call to a friend who was located at the church where the families of those missing where staying. It snow balled from there. The Mining company did not intend for this information to be released because they were in the process of tending to one survivor and recovery efforts of the dead. CNN, Fox News, CNBC....got rapped up in the emotional event think the rumors they were hearing from the church and the singing was good news and relied on the words of the family that the story was correct without first confirming them with the Rescue Team. It appears all survived the explosion, and made every effort to baracade themselves in an area that had fairly good air, but all their efforts were not enough to save themselves.
  14. Oh, now I think I know why you don't like him, he doesn't fit into a Liberal mold.
  15. > It amuses me that people feel this is 'news' just because it has a dissenting opinion from some popular cultural beliefs. I've seen better news reporting in Readers Digest than this drivel. Yes Sir, I feel the same way about Polls. Your said it best, nothing more than drivel.
  16. >Also, I really loved the one about how money doesn't buy happiness. There are many more people in this world with incomes below $30k (much less $50k) than there are above. How friggin' elitist can you get? Those with money are far more capable of helping then those without. Such as Bill Gates who has given more than a Billion dollars to those in need not to mention thousands who have an income to support their families. Or maybe someone more respected by the left as Ted Turner who has or in the process of giving a Billion, and through hard work started CNN employing hundreds and providing incomes. Money doesn't buy happiness, but it sure can bring some happiness to those who are in need of it. A friend of mine I grew up with is a Surgen and makes more than $600K a year told me several years ago that money did'nt buy him happiness or a better quality of life because he lacked the time to experience its benefits. Maybe with the right kind of job that will pay more and which provides benefits and advancement oppertunities will provide you with a better quality of life.
  17. With the interest of keeping this post alive for at least another day...christains believe after the second coming the earth will be around for another 1,000 years prior to the White Thone Judgement. 1,000 years plus I'd say.
  18. Locust with wild honey on a crisp Ritz cracker..MhhMhh..everything taste better on a crisp Ritz cracker.
  19. Well am listening...maybe you can enlighten me to your idea of "Lifestyle"
  20. > Not really. It's what the case hinges on. And the case itself is an ordinary one. Maybe he can ask for forgiveness and present the judge with a Pie.
  21. >Maybe I shouldn't be going to work and paying my taxes and voting and stuff...I dunno... Yea perhaps if your confused it would be best if you stayed home.
  22. ...no matter how many gay people you say you know... Well only know a handful, however my Nephew's father is guy and has been sence my nephew was very young and lived a double life while married to his mother. He and his partner of eight years had Christmas dinner at our home with his son and wife and that of his ex-wife and family. I do not agree with the life style, and don't believe I will anytime in the near future. But I do love my friends even though they currently are involved in the gay life style.
  23. Well its good to know that we are so interested in two guys slobbing the knob of the other and looking up into their eyes saying...where's the cream filling? Its a sick life style and it includes women on women as well, there are no redeeming values, but a fullfilment for lust. Its a preversion of what is natural between a man or women. That being said, I've gone on record that I do have several close friends that are gay. I would prefer seeing them in loving relationships with the opposite sex and raise a family as a Mother and Father. Its not how a nation should define itself with a large percentage of children saying I have two moms / dads.
