if its something we want to do, maybe it could be a rallying point to get members to vote. my concern is that dzo's, even one's that don't take skyride, would resent uspa getting that far into how they run their business. dz's could pull out of uspa and possibly cause a rift in the skydiving community. that is the last thing i would want to see. i would like to see opinions of dzo's on this one. what would be the ramifications of uspa stepping in and telling dz's not to accept skyride? if we as members decide that this is not good for our sport, do we have some influence? is this even within the bounds of uspa's power? would dz's comply or just tell uspa to fuck off? it would take time, but we could elect directors who would take a stand against skyride. the question is, are there enough members that care? the vocal majority of people on dz.com are against skyride, but how many people don't mind and keep quiet because they have an unpopular opinion or just don't care. i'm not saying this is what we should do, but i think it should be discussed. vote with your vote as an alternative to vote with your feet. for many people, choosing not to jump at a skyride dz means choosing not to jump at all or walking away from their weekend family. i don't think it's fair to ask that, nor do i think its going to happen. i thought that 6 weeks was an even better time to train him not to bark, but it hasn't happened yet. he has gotten better. he started out barking all night, and slowly got better but his progress has hit a plateau. i just hope we can get this better before next week, or else he will begin his barking at 4 am. if we aren't going to be gone long, we put him in the crate, but the nearest real town is an hour away, so when we go there its usually a very long trip. i can put water in the kennel and he can pee if he has to. that sucks that you can't leave a dog outside when you're gone, but i can understand it. some dogs will bark constantly until their owners return. we recently got a new golden retriever puppy. he is very well behaved, and very smart. he picks up new commands almost immediately, but he has one problem. around 5 am he decides it is time to be let out of his crate and he will bark solid until i let him out around 7:30. i bought a citronella bark collar, but it didn't work this morning. it did make him bark a little quieter until the citronella ran out. one problem is that the spray is hitting him in the neck instead on spraying in front of his face. another problem is that the spray says "odor free". are there other scents that may be more effective? i love this dog, but god damn he pisses me off in the morning and puts me in a foul mood first thing in the morning. lay the blade of your knife flat over the garlic and pound it one good time with your fist. the skin will pop right off and you only have to run your knife through it once or twice. i've heard that a 2x2 sample piece of granite works very well too, but i haven't tried it. last year my dad gave me an old cast iron pan. i googled the markings on it and it was made in the early fifties. i know my dad hasn't washed it in 30 years, and it likely hadn't been washed since it was new. i loved it, nothing would stick to it. i stored it in the oven, but always forgot to take it our when pre-heating. the bottom developed some sort of super hard kind of sticky coating on it that i couldn't get off. i hated it, but i had to run it through the oven self-clean. i've tried reseasoning it, but it just hasn't been the same. i never wanted to use one, but nothing i could do could keep my dog from tunneling under the fence. i bought an electronic fence and it did the trick. you can set the shock level very low and still get very good results. go ahead and try it on yourself, you'll see it isn't as inhumane as people say. (as long as you keep it on the lower levels). the dog will learn very quickly and soon to switch from using the shock to just using the tone and then just having to collar on the dog will make the dog behave. don't worry about what the holier-than-thow crowd has to say.
