    while it is true that christianity has adopted almost every holiday from pagan rituals, we in this country have been putting up trees to celebrate christmas. therefore it is a christmas tree. as an atheist i have adopted the christmas holiday and many of its rituals from christianinty. i still call it christmas. i will also have a christmas tree in my house. looking at the big picture, it really isn't important if its called a christmas tree or a holiday tree. i just think its a silly thing to make such a big deal about. if its that much of a controversy about its name, then don't put it up at all. what i do think is a big deal, is blue laws. being a pretty serious liberal, i would think that you would be pissed about them too. blue laws are on the books for the purpose of enforcing christian religious doctrine. this is much more offensive than labeling a holiday, a vacation, or a tree as "christmas".     first off, all states should repeal all blue laws as that clearly using the law to impose things such as the sabbath on everybody whether you are religious or not. second, its a fucking christmas tree. if you are going to erect it, call it what it is or don't put it up at all. unlike blue laws, calling a tree a christmas tree does not force people to conform to a religious doctrine that they don't believe in. it is after all the christmas season whether you believe in jesus or not.     when i broke my leg i built a pt-40 trainer. i took it to the local field and watched someone fly it. i then began building a twin otter. i decided to go with electric motors this time. the guy at hobbytown told me they were too big for my experience level (none). a little more sanding and it will be ready for covering. i haven't touched it since my son was born. he's two and a half now.     i am in line with you. christmas was always my favorite time of year when i was a kid. the excitement and the anticipation is something i don't want my kids to miss out on. now that i'm almost an adult, i appriciate the family gathering as well.     this would be a valid point if, like bebe, the oil companies were competing in a fair market. if you wanted to, you could make your own jeans, market them, and sell them for whatever you think you could get. you could not go drill a well, build a refinery, and open a druvaughn gas station across the street from an exxon station.     i know there was a dz dog thread not too long ago, but i'm looking to show off my pup and i'm sure i'm not alone. besides name age and breed, i want to know something more. tell me a story about your dog(s) or tell some funny personality quirk your dog has. let me know what you do with your four legged friend like hiking, hunting, competition, etc. lots of pictures of course. emma is is my 4 month old golden retriever. she only pees next to the door, which tells me she is trained, and i am not. these pictures are from the other day on the south fork of the boise river.
