Wingsuit pilots going to Cable car boogie
unclecharlie95 replied to unclecharlie95's topic in Archive
http://www.epco.aero/benne/technique_gb.htm Any other wingsuit pilots out there with GPS data they would like to share. I want to plot some more flight trajectories over the terrain (especially of the first 20 secs after exit). It is looking a little "nip 'n tuck".... BASEstore.it -
Wow!! Impressive! We want inflight pics and a full debrief Only 60 parts, that is good rationalization also.. and what is the name of thy new wings? BASEstore.it

Hey Jaap, >explain the differences Although there are obvious visual similarities between the P&J / Prodigy there are in-fact a lot of differences in the construction: The sleeve and shoulder structure of the jacket is completely different to take the increased load A spandex back panel has been incorporated to improve comfort and range of movement The pants have been overhauled to incorporate the legwing and huge back deflector. The waist has been reinforced to support the armwing anchor point etc... you get the idea Check out the piccy attached. (Just don't ruin your P&J!! ) Long flights J BASEstore.it

Please pass on "saluti" (greetings) to Nick from Italy

in the sense of "yellow cable", no, but there is an armwing release (attachment point on either side of the hip). The suit allows you to reach the toggles with the armwing in place but there is a small resistance from the suit. So once you have secured your airspace and pointed the canopy back towards the DZ you can choose to release the wing if you wish. (the production model will have a spandex back panel which further improves the range of motion) BASEstore.it

Hold on, you can't claim you speakz breetish iingleesh BASEstore.it

Just out of interest, do you wingsuit BASE jump? BASEstore.it

I disagree. The reduced fallrate and reduced vertical altitude used during a wingsuit deployment does NOT make it "safe" to pull low. Chances of deployment problems are increased. By the armwing getting in the way, PC in the burble, hard opening to due high forward speed, line twists due to swing through deployment, time required to free arms and legs, reacting to line twists etc. IMO If you pull at 450' for norm FF it would not be a good idea to go any lower with a WS on. "low pulls, ha, they're easy. You just do nothing for a bit longer" (I think the part of the WS BASE guidelines that talks about "deceptive" groundrush is applicable to those using track / smoke pants.) BASEstore.it

No Willy, this is not an "official" PF video. PF does not recommend pulling low *cough* BASEstore.it

It's actually been 50/50 The suit performs excellently in both environments. The range when flocking is incredible and my still air flights continue to improve every time. BASEstore.it

Did he let you have a go with his new toy?

I have about 30 flights on my V-1 now and starting to get used to it. Wore my gps at the weekend, sustained forward speed of 102 mph, fallrate low forties. I can feel the suit still has much more to offer. BASEstore.it
-
yes, bottom of the list BASEstore.it
-
Sustained verts in the 30s is good slow fall, nice work! GR of 1.2 on an S3 is not so hot, good flyers are getting over 2+ easy. How many jumps do you have on it? BASEstore.it
-
If you decide this is a worthwhile exercise (?) make sure you cut away both arm wings at the same time .. Things could get exciting otherwise.. Cleaning and an occasionally wiping your yellow cables with a teflon wipe (a la Cypres) can't hurt either. Long flights, J BASEstore.it

Vert speed was in the 50s and we pushed towards the end getting into the 40s. I totally agree.

In addition to thanking the sponsors I would like to say a BIG thank you to Scott and Chris for being excellent organisers. Ensuring the dives were challenging and great fun. Thanks to Perry for the great footage and stills. ..and not forgetting the most critical part! The Z-flockers!: Scotty Walt Baxter Luke Larry H Matt Kris Darren Mark K Mike Jenn Michelle Todd Bernie Bill S Bill W Robert P Robert J Perry Scott B Chris Pieter Paul Larry S Aubrey Miki Mark H Greg Omar Jo ..sorry to those i missed Thanks for all the great flights guys! Those 2 plane formation loads rocked! Many of the flockers took the chance to try out the V-1 and Prodigy, all returned with big smiles on their faces. The flock grew by another 8 skydivers who "took flight" for the first time with the Prodigy, all commenting how simple and easy to the suit is to fly. I will post some more photos later, Perry (& Darren) took some awesome shots. Until the next time! Long flights, J (Better get practicing for the next Skate & Chug! ) BASEstore.it
