  1. Happened to me. We have been married for almost 5 yrs now and the feeling hasn't changed. Matter of fact it just keeps getting stronger!
  2. I also wanted to add that our videos we produce contain a leader which shows our training methods with a clip of, staticline, aff, and tandem freefalls. Then the tandems video and then a trailer of skydiving clips I have taken like, a horny gorillas, sit trains, a 7 way, and some freeflying. This is about 1.5 gig. Add to that 1.5 to 2.5 gig for the complete video plus 3 to 4 gig for the captured video of just one tandem it will add up quick. I keep a tandem video on disc for about one month in case they want another copy after which I cut out everything except the freefall and landing and put it on dvd for my archives. This can all be done on a smaller hard drive but the cost are low enough now why not have the extra space for when you need it. I store on dvd since I have had tapes get damaged or lose quality plus it's ready to go into the computer when you need it. I have done editing with less and it works. I can now afford the extra bells and whistles and it does make it easier.
  3. The 80 gig. I use for other software like mp3 to wave converter and nonediting software. The 200 gig is for editing software and storage. 15 minutes of video captured in full quality takes up over 3 gig. of space. I could capture in less quality but I use still from the video at the end as a photo album of the tandem skydive and it makes it easier to grab clear pics when it;s in full quality. I also store some 900 mp3s and wave music on this drive which takes up alot of space. Yes I have about half or less of the drive not filled but I won't have to worry about what to delete in a hurry if something needs to be removed. Big hard drives are very cheap now days. External drives cost alittle more than internal. Soon I will be moving tandem freefall clips to a dvd+rw for storage to clean up the drive. It fills up faster than you might think unless you only take about 5 mins. of video.
  4. HP may have something in the 1.8 gighrz range with an 80 gig hard drive fire wire ready. You will need to add a 200 gig hard drive and dvd burner but should get in under the 1200.00. Mine was set up as mentioned and I configured it as above and beat the 1200.00 earlier this year so now you should be able to do better.
  5. Not sure. Will check and let you know. I'm not up on DivX.
  6. I use to subscribe to Videomaker mag. and they advertised most turnkey systems as well as most editing software. It will tell you whats availble and then you can go from there.
  7. I have a Sony pc101 and I can pass thru a vhs to the the pc without recording to the camera. Your pc3 may do this also. Check the camera menu for av>dv or dv>av and turn it to on. Switch it to off when done.
  8. If you are only going to do simple tandem videos then Pinnacle studio 8 is great. It's easy to learn and does alot. If you want to do dazzling videos with alot of effects then try Premiere. You can get a demo disc from Pinnacle and try it before you buy it.
  9. Yes things are different at most DZs. Where I jump we only use a c182 and slots are 15.00 to 10,000. I'm the only camera flyer. We charge 150.00 for a tandem, 50.00 for video. I do all the editing, I supply the tape, and now we mail the videos since I put ALOT into the video other than just taking it off the camera and putting it on tape. Of the 50.00 I get 20.00. Have been told numirous times I will be getting a bigger cut. Been about a year now and no extra money. I supply my own editing equipment also along with my camera. My complaint, if fun jumpers pay 15.00 for a slot, the DZO ( who does the tandems by the way ) gets 150.00 for the tandem, why do I only get 20.00? Guess I should find a new DZ huh?
  10. from my nekkid 500th. before any comments hit the thread, I know it's not a tight, young bum but hell i'm 52 and can still jump.
  11. I use an Omega 7 cell because of it's nice snivel. When packing I don't have to roll the nose or push it back in. I just let it hang. I also pull the center of the slider up to the gromets. All this to cut the snivels down to 500 ft.
  12. Skydive Tulsa is a small DZ. The main emphasis is on making you feel like it's your home DZ. Even though small in number of jumpers they put up plenty of loads. If you are a low time jumper you will not have a problem finding someone with experience who is willing to jump with you. They are serious about safety but try to make sure everyone has fun on every jump!
  13. The wings allow you to adjust your fall rate but leave your arms and legs available to fly. If you can stay ahead of who you are videoing and get samll when then speed up then there shouldn't be a fall rate problem. Camera suits don't have to be baggy. You can get a tight fitting suit to fall fast if wings are all you need. For me at 6'1" and 200 lbs I can fall fast by getting small even with a some what baggy suit and slow down with the wings. Real small tandem passengers can be tough to keep up with sometimes.
  14. I also use Studio 8 and put stills at the end of the video. I have some pics posted in the personal galleries. They only look half way good up to 5X7. But like Quade said it's an important event and might be acceptable to them.
  15. I want very much to get video of me shooting a tandem but i'm the only camera flyer at the DZ right now. I have been able to hang on, barely, on some light loads. So this has got me wondering where i'm screwing up on the others. Thaks for the input.
  16. I thank each of you in your help with my problem! I think what's so agravateing about it is that I have around 120 aff and tandem videos and I should have already come up with a solution for this problem. Believe me I do practice. I do very little fun jumps. Instead I go on tandems and affs when they don't want video. Again thank you all for the help.
  17. I adjusted my wings by the section on your web site and think I have them right. I figured I should make sure my arms are in the irght position then readjust them again.
  18. This is for camera flyers who are about 230 lbs. out the door who video tandems. Our tandem master weighs around 215 out the door and when he has light weight passengers I can only keep up about half the skydive then I sink out. I jump a body sport camera suit with the biggest wings they make. So i'm wondering if maybe my arms aren't in the best position to completely inflate the wings. What position will completely inflate the wings? I have tried putting them straight out to the side, half way around in front, to alittle below and in front. Any ideas?
  19. I use Our lady Peace - Star seed for freefall and Pink Floyd - Learning to fly for landing and still pics I put at the end of the video if they don't have a request.
  20. No. I'm the only one at our DZ. It' not very big. But I like flying a camera and don't expect to make big money or recoup the cost of my equipment very fast.
  21. We charge 15.00 to 10,000 for fun jumpers. We charge 50.00 for a video. Cameraman does editing and soon will supply tape. he gets 20.00 and DZ gets 30.00. 15.00 profit to haul cameraman to 10,000.
  22. Pics have been added to Night Jumps post in Events and gatherings.
  23. Here are some pics captured from video of Dale's 104th record exit.
