I'm thinking of getting a removable slider and PC for my next canopy(maybe samurai 135 or simliar). But will it be a hassel to install it after each jump? Will it delay my packing? And will it have any effect for me, or will it be in the way? Any thoughts? Jay Stokes - 640 Jumps In 24 Hrs (Was: 600 Jumps)
lilchief replied to DSE's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
holy....!!!! he said during the interview with SR that 600 maybe was max possible in 24hrs....Rock on man! =) and the guy is 50 year! We youngsters need to haul ass! you mean a normal jumpsuit? Have a FF suit that breaks me some, but still it's not enough. If you read one of my previous posts, 98 is not correct. it's 177 jumps. I wasen't filming when i did the highspeed jump, it was a normal funjump on a hot day... My altitrack recorded 180mph True airspeed(160-165 in Skydiver airspeed). That was with my arms on my chest, but in regular box position it was approx 7mph slower. I was only wearing shorts and shoes during that jump. Get your point, and my plan was first to learn to fly my body, but because of my high fallrate(I've recorded 180mph at max) i was recomended to get wings. My jumpnumbers are 177, haven't updated my profile for a while

Hi all! I need a good camerasuit, but have never owned one before and know little about them. I need one, because of my fallrate . Have tried filming 2 and 3 ways and all I'm able to do is to fly on maximum brakes just to keep level. If i try to maneuver anything, I fall below the formation. So what are your tips to me? bring em on!! I was recomended Orugans' camerasuit because of good quality. But there isn't any info on the forum about them. If there's any articles that is only about camerasuits, I'd be glad to read. Wingsuits are so yesterday...
lilchief replied to outlawphx's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think manufactors shoul massproduce them to skydivers and attach paintball markers on them and we all could have a dogfight over a case of beer skyhigh Or we could arrange picnics with airsafari. You just stash tent, food and beer, raw eggs and flour in the cargocompartments.. I should really just go to bed... too mutch bullshit on me...haha. Upon deployment, my PC got entangled with the bridle. The terminal deployment of my Smart 190 felt like a standard Navigator opening. Flew inn, made a flat turn with deepbrakes, and had only a small flare left on landing. Nothing to complain about. It felt just super smoooth! I've never jumped any other reserve, but this one felt good, and I'll probably stick with it for a long time! Lost my freebag, but that's a cost I can live with..litterly =)

First: thanks for the info, all of you,I got exactly what i needed. To clarify three things: I pack my self The PC has 30-40 jumps now Instinctively..well, I really don¨t know why, but I did it without even thinking, and it may be because it is another option, perhaps? anyway, not a good one. But I've learned. This is what happened today: Did a super cool head down exit with a buddy, tansitioned to sit..blablabla...separated at 5' pulled at approx 3100f counted 2 sec and noticed that nothing happened. Looked back and saw a PC in a Tow. I reached back, BUT i learned my lesson and stopped when the hand was on the side of the rig. Caught the cutaway handle before my eyes was on it and threw it, pulled silver and was under a nice white Smart 190 at something like 1500f( I didn't watch the altimiter). 1 sec after i was under canopy, i felt my main drop from the rig. Luckily I caught it with my feet, grabbed it with my hands and kept the bag(the main was still in the bag) and PC to me during decent. The smart was NICE to fly :) yelled with the top of my lungs: YEEEEHA! three times, and to times more after landing. What a rush!

To pull out the pin out manually. But as AFFi said, it's not the best option, and could be very dangerous. If it happens again, I'll wait a bit longer before starting on EP. Also, I'll double check my pin before jumping. I waited approx 1 second after exit to deploy. I've had two hop'n pop's(teh lowest at 3000f) before and both had the 3 sec delay before i felt the snatch. I belive it caught wind instantly. The aircraft was a c-182, exitspeed 60knot +/- I remeber my bag bounced my hand away from the right container flap. Yesterday I did a Hop'n pop at 7K. Counted to 3 after pulling and nothing happened! I know my canopy well enough that within 3 sec I feel the snatch. So i waited one more second, looked at my back and saw my PC inflated, but not pulling out my main. Instinctively i reached back and the main came out. gave me a 360 spin and came out properly at 5800f. The part I'm not sure of, is whether I pulled out the pin or that the change of bodyposition gave the PC more wind and therefore got enough drag to pull the pin. It happened so instinctively that i don't remember feeling the bridle before my container opened. I packed it last tuesday, and the PC was cocked properly, but i remember the pin was curved the other way. On other packjobs packers have done, the pin has been inserted the other way without problem during deployment. questions? comments? I need help understanding what went wrong!

In Norway reserves cannot be used any more when they are 20 years old. It might be conservative, but it's a clue on how old it could be and still be safe. Morals selling rig and qualifications and scams
lilchief replied to akarunway's topic in Gear and Rigging
since when did we skydivers use agents(not stores) to by our gear? haha.. I'd like that job for sure I think my pc desk is a good swooping machine.. 1 cubic foot of hardcore swooping material collected in the nearby forrest "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no -
Could someone with rigging experience tell me why some rigmanufactors want the cypress loop cutter at the bottom of the reservecontainer. while some(like Aerodyne) has it under one of the closingflaps to the resservecontainer(close to the top of the loop)? Blackwater forms skydiving team
lilchief replied to AndyMan's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
hmm..so if they know you're better then them, they'll hunt you down mid-air and start a FS war campain on your team with guns, RPG and what-not? skydive wars! totally new underground discipline haha.. -
I stopped reading replies after the first page, so if this has been posted somewhere on the second page, sorry for wasting time. BUT, I couldn't stop thinking of a solution to the problem. I believe someone in an interview by SkydiveRadio said: "rigg design has over time changed to solve problems". Okay, we have here a delicate situation and whatever we do as an EP there will be drawback and pros... So what if we change de design to the main container? I've already come up with to possibilities, and with many skydivers with years and tons of jumps more than me I believe that the solution is right in front of us: 1) What if the kill line had the pin attached to it. So after the pin is pulled, the pin is almost fully hidden in the bridle. In this case, you HAVE to cock the pilot properly for the pin to clear out so you can close your container. But I believe I've been told that there have been containerlock's where the PC with full pullforce still haven't deployed the main due to a mal with the pin and what not. If that's true, then this option is not reliable. 2)My second solutions it to add some kind of flap(like the ones covering your risers over your shoulders) to one of the closing flaps on the main container. This is then tucked into another flap or flaps. This ensuring that it stays locked even when tension is diminished when the reserve has settled nicely over your head. Maybe in combination of a stiffer piece of fabric in the end of the reservecontainer where the ADD is located. If we need more pullforce...well..just upsize the PC. Hope we soon see a solution to this problem

As said by tbrown, you start to fixate on the cutawayhandle and if your risers will hold or not, and even maybe start mid-freefall rigging. How cool headed are you that you don't loose track of your altitude? will you fight or go silver? You can fuck up a lot of things cause we are humans, and it's in our nature to not perform perfectly 24/7. This is one of many reasons AAD's are mandatory to me. Here's my Sidewinder. I got it poilshed and custompainted by a local hero , and that cost almost three times the price of the helmet ..and I won't start filming untill june/july "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no

What I tried to say was that it seemed like a good solution until i did RP....
-
I thought the routing in the picture too was good. But after doing some RP(Relative Philosiphy) i changed it to have the end pass through the rubber band again. In that way it's harder to let the chest strap come loose if you entangle/bump/snag it during exit and starts to bitchslap you during freefall (hope I never have to experience that). On my Icon, the chest strap doesn't have any "stoppingpiece" at the end. I find it scary, but it hasn't undone it self yet. But I'm also very interested in modify it to have a piece of webbing that prevents it from gliding trough. This happened in my club, i believe 3-4 years ago. They did a demo/anniversary jump with a Parafoil(round thingy that brakes the fall, not the PC ) and the guy who packed it used 2,5kg(somewhat 5lb) weights to pack it. and the guy forgets it in the canopy. The jump was over downtown Trondheim(160.000 whuffos+some skydivers) and the jump went perfect. During the evening it came on the news: "Strange thing, a 2,5kg weight fell form the sky". It had gone through the roof of a garage and through the front window of the car parked there. The owner was not far away and got PO! The funny thing was, a hot air ballonist was in interrogation by the police, even though he hadn't been in that airspace That particular weight is still in "service", but with a nylon band attached to it, saying: "Remove before flight". There's still a mark in it where it hit the window of the car "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no

Winter jumping -- Ski gloves okayed -- Possible dangers?
lilchief replied to mdrejhon's topic in Safety and Training
I'll vote for those. Had some my self, with synthetic leather, and they were warm, comfy and had a good grip on my hackey. But this is what I really want to say. Using latex or any substance similar as latex in gloves, I would warn people to. It depends on how many jumps you do in a day, and how long you keep your gloves on. Remember, the human body constantly vapors water through tiny pores in the skin. Another thing when we exit the plane, our adrenaline rush kicks off stress symptoms, causing our body to sweat. During freefall, we rarely relax as we do on the ground, but rather strain our body as if we are working out. Remember, latex doesn't let humidity pass through, but locks it inside. If you use the latex outside the glove, you'll only make your glove wet and things worse. And very humid gloves doesn't isolate much, they'll give you frostbite instead If you use latex on the inside, you'll get better of. But what are you going to do when you pack? If you don't have a warm place to pack, then you'll have hands that are a little bit damp. And since I assume that you don't use gloves during packing, you now pack a parachute witch is very cold with "wet" hands. and then you've got a high risk in getting frostbite. Another thing, frostbite may occur up to +10 degrees C, if the climate is wet and windy. just my 2,- NOK edit to add: I'm going skydiving tomorrow, and I can't find my gloves!!!!! darn!
