  1. I know I'm f... if I go in! plus, my Pilot has the 5 center cells colored black, and the rest green. That's why I carry as whistle in one of the pockets of my flight suit "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
  2. PM me with your e-mail adress and I'll send you an mpeg with my Pilot 210
  3. Been a lot of focus on the Sabre 2. Are there any other canopies that has the same performance as a Sabre 2? I feel that this thread as been a free ad for PD ..lucky bastards And if someone could enlighten me on this: How does the sabre 2 behave during frontriser/hookturn approaches? I was told by some guys at my DZ that is was "wobbeling" or "wiggelig". I didn't get to try it my self when demoing a S2 190 If I'm going off topic, pleas PM me, so the thread doesn't spinn off
  4. I've seen it, but do you know who it was? I want to do it too :D maybe helicopter to helicopter, that would have benn cool! 5. I really don't know, but I wish I had more info on it. I was only told what I posted. you could always try if you want to Did the Lt Col survie?? 6. A tip: When it stalls, don't let your arms fly high immediatly. That will cause the canopy to surge forward and dive, and you'll eat up a lot of altitude to recover control and the canopy may do funky things(During a demo on a S2 190, to center cells collapsed due to this for 5-7 seconds and started a medium turn). Raise your toggles up a few inches to when you feel you get the same control as on deep brakes. Your instructors can fill you in on the details, since I'm not an instructor and my english is crappy. 7. I could feed you with what i know Gravitygear.com is located there(gravitygirl is the owner) They rent out, but I don't know the price On fridays there is less jumping(they are open thursday-sunday) A ticket costs $20 here's their address: http://www.bayareaskydiving.com/ They use a king air, but also has a 206. The king air is only used saturday and sunday if I remember. Farrah is very pretty If you're able, check with Bonnie prior to depature on used"new gear, and have it ready when you get there. I believe a rig is cheaper in the US then in the UK That's it, i guess
  8. Well..to my knowledge its actually possible. However, its inside of a thunder cloud. The upwinds there can reach speeds around 120mph. I was told that to(..or maybe it was there) that died. They simply froze to death because they weren't loosing any altitude and got stuck in there... If we only had some good thermal suits, we could have many minutes of freefall inside a cloud "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
  9. From a European point of view, Byron is neat!
  10. Searched the gear section, but no match found. So to the old guy's: How could you describe a 150 sq/ft BT-50 to some of the modern canopies? There's a guy that tries to sell a Vector 2 from 1992 with a BT-50 as main. If he dosen't sell it during this seasong, I'll get it for free
  11. I heard about a naked jump performed over Stockholm(the capitol of Sweden). They gave them a bad spot and made them land in the city among pedestrians. 12. ..when you rent a car for 4 days to get 5 jumps! "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no

    Icon Sport

If you're a stundent and want a new rig this would be a good frist rig. It's cheap, but has a lot of smart solutions and they are improving the icon all the time. It also includes some $350 in options that you have to pay for to get on other rigs. I've had mine for 45 jumps and Ive got nothing to complain about on the rig. However: When i ordered it, it was delivered 2 days after what I asked for(I came to the US(I live in Norway) to pick it up at a friend of mine in phoenix, and i had only 7 days there. I even specified it to my dealer). And when i got it it was the wrong color on the PC and with a narrow cheststrap( I ordered a wide). But that's nothing critical, just anoying. Then after only 5 jumps my bag started getting torn up on one of the sides where the "lid" on the bag is. I contated my dealer back in norway and he said he could do a temporarly fix on the bag, so I could jump while I waited for the new bag and right colored PC to arraive. This was in june. Last week( mid january 06) i got the bag and the PC. Only to find out that the bag was one size smaller!!!! As I've heard from others, these things can happen to any rig, but it still sucks. I don't want to wait another 9 months to get a new bag....
  14. Hmm...crap! But there is a chance, and I¨m going to find out how! "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
  15. As the visioner I am, I always try to aim for the stars and live out my dreams. This time i'm thinking of moving to Phoenix, get a god job and use all the spare time I've got to jump at eloy. I got a friend who's going to study there this summer. Thought maybe to catch up with him and find a place we could share and then reduce the living costs. Has anyone done this before and knows what to do, where to look etc. Or does someone know what I need to do? any info at all helps. I haven't decided anything, cause this is still only a dream. But dreams are made to lived up. 16. Hi guys! I just finished reading some about how to learn flying headdown. I'm going to start training seriously to achive my goal, witch is: Being able to stay in headdown position from exit to separation altitude and manage to observe my altimiter. This i want to accomplish before reaching jump number 100(I'm on 72 jumps now) I'm a little skeptic about keeping my arms a little bit towards my legs(upwards). Isn't that a more unstable position then keeping arms straight out and balance more on the wind? If possible, could someone post a picture of a good newbie headdown position? I learn best from watching and memorizing. I currently mange to stay stabile in sit and got some, not perfect, control over where I'm heading in sit and doing turns. A freeflyer here posted that you should have GOOD control in sit before attempting headdown.I'm going to continue learning belly and sit after just getting stable in HD(If someone experienced wants to kno the reason, I'll post it, but i warn you, I removed it because is was a lot of text ). Should there be a big red warning light going off in my head know, or do you think that I could start, just be really careful and keep correct heading? 17. I'll try BASE in 2007 i guess(need more jumps). But I never realised that some rangers could behave like that! Especially when it comes to arrest rescuers! well. i don't have enough insight to come with comments, just wanted to tell you what popped up in my mind: Phone prank! Use a phonebooth to ring them and say" Hi! I'm john Doe. there is some guys wearing really small backpacks with legstraps, going toward (some well known exit point)". Make sure that it's on the other side of the NP, so you can jump safely where there's no rangers
  18. I bought a brand new rig, reserve, main and aad. Mostly because i couldn't find my size(210 - i found only one rig with a 210 in 3 months) here in norway. The sad thing was that I only got 35 jumps last season, mostly due to lack of funds. It would have been sweet to have some $3000 extra to jump with if I only had got a used rig. Think about it. You need the jumps!
  19. First: i S U C K at packing my Pilot 210. It still has only 38 jumps on it and I sometimes call it a B****. Anyway, I've had several off heading and a couple of hard openings. All my fault due to lousy packjobs. However, a detail I discovered last time i jumped was the the mid-3-ring that is supposed to reduce the cut-away force on the cables, tend to shift 45 degrees when I'm taking my rigg of. It took me only 20 jumps to realize that! That's probably why I got so many off heading openings. The times I had some one else pack my pilot, the openings felt like cream God I'm stupid "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
  20. thanks both sparky and billvon. I'll start practicing asap.
  21. During my last year in service, we had the option to catch a freeride with a C-130. Depending on the wind, it could pass directly over where i live. To bad that i only had a A license "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
  22. I'm kind of the guy who want fast landings. Luckily in Norway we have wingload limitations. I can't have a higher wingload than 1,1 until i reach more than 200 jumps. I'm currently jumping a pilot 210 wit approx 1,0 in WL. I feel that the size of that canopy limits my ability to learn riser landings. The reason is that when i pull down both risers it takes max 2 sec before the canopy pull my arms up(even when they are close to my shoulders). And then the canopy flattens out quite fast, or at least that's how it feels on my harness. I'm still using the riser above 150f to prevent me from hitting the ground in a manner I won't like. I'll try this winter to see if I can get more out of it, if not, I'm considering downsizing to a sabre 2 190(a pilot 188 will exceed WL limitations) I hope to get some good advice/tips to this, mail, or as an answer on this thread.
  23. I didn't think of that....good one haha "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
  24. VKB (Verdal Karsk and BASE;try spelling it ) was most likely involved yes When I get my hands on a copy, I could send it to someone and they could distribute it. I'm not a basejumper my self, so any technical questions must be directed to VKB.
