  1. Does anyone have any hands on experience with the new SET 366? How does the toggle pressure and bottom end compare to the Icarus 365? After seeing the old SET 360's in action, I'm very skeptical to buy any thing expect a SET 400 from strong.
  2. Does anyone know where I can purchase a Stroboframe 300-VID quick release plate? B & H has been out of stock for over a month, and I can't seem to find anyone else carries the 300-VID plate. Any suggestions? Thanks! Lance
  3. Its a long shot... but I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a decent A&I or A&P in Socal? I need to get a pre-buy done on a 182 within the next 24 hours , and have struck out on finding a mechanic to do a quick pre-buy. The aircraft is not far from Riverside. Any and all leads would be greatly appreciated, as I'm very unfamiliar with the West coast. Thanks! Lance
  4. Great pic's everyone, very interesting stuff! Attached is a much more recent pic of Ridgely, taken Nov, 2006. As you can see, a lot has changed! Keep the pic's coming! Lance
  5. I was caught in the death spril. And I don't mean the life spril, the deathe spril....so I pulled the shroud line, and activated my secondary chute. bsbd Grant!!!!!
  6. What's up guys, this summer I've began to experiment with some basic freestyle maneuvers, mainly Superman's, and now working on switchblade. I was just wondering if anyone here can offer some advise/tip's, when working on basic freestyle, and particularly improving the superman?? I feel like I've had decent success, but working at a Cessna tandem factory I don't really have anyone to compare notes with, or get tips from. ANY info is greatly appreciated! Thanks! Lance
  7. The simga 15mm is a great lens, but it cannot compare to the Canon 15mm lens. The difference in picture quality is noticeably better on the Canon lens. Take an 8 x 10 taken with a Canon lens, and put it next to an 8 x 10 taken with a sigma lens in the same conditions, with the same camera. You will notice an obvious difference in quality of the Canon photo. Don't get me wrong, the simga is a great lens, but spend the extra $80-100 and get canon. You will not regret it! BTW if anyone wants a good deal on a Sigma 15mm let me know Lance
  8. Does anyone know where (and IF) I can get a top mount kit for my rawa?? I've trying e-mailing both Claudio, and rawa direct, with no response. Aerostore doesn't carry them. I've switched camera's, and hate to side mount again. Lance
  9. Does any one know how much horse power a -41 develops? I'm thinking 1100? The performance must be incredible. Do you know what airframe they used (A, B, C, E)? Lance
  10. I do. Used to fly out of Pelicanland, in Maryland some. I was very young, but remenber when Roger Nelson bought it. She had sat at Hyde field in Maryland for years with a blown engine, they hung an engine on it, and flew it to Sandwich ?? Then it ended up in Xenia for a bit I think. http://www.airliners.net/open.file/060379/M/ Lance
  11. I thought 100AP was one of the polar bear otters?? It had been around for a long time prior to FrankenOtter, which i though was like n226cs or something like that. Lance
  12. WTF?? Where do you guys come up with this?? If you don't know what your talking about, don't post!!! YOUR ALL WRONG, THATS a Skyvan...or no, maybe a casa... Wait wait, I know, its a twin otter...or a Cessna 206? No Maybe a Cessna 205...wait, it has a radial engine, it has to be a King Air! Lance
  13. hmmmm i guess your flying had nothing to do with hosing the exit shot? Thats a good one though, from now on when I blow a video, I'm blaming the aircraft. i might even call the faa next time it happens. who will stand for this!!!!???? the pac 750 is making our camera flyers exit unstable and lean there heads forward in the door...hey andyman i got an idea ... go call mommy! lance
  14. if you have 5000 jumps and still fly a batwing, maybe you just gay. lance
  15. Don't think so. There are only 2 DZ's in Maryland, both flying 182's. We used to own a 180, 19TW, but sold in back in 1994/1995. Lance
  16. Ok, let me explain this a little bit to you. As per the numbers I've seen (not from the factory), a 750 will make more money per load with 4 jumpers in it due to the use of fuel and tac time then a 182 with 4 jumpers in it. *** your not too smart are you? Lance
  17. Check out my post here http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1227149;#1227149 Lance
  18. I didn't know Rawa made a bracket for top mounting. Anyone have any info on it? I'd be very interested. Lance
  19. Have any idea where Yankee Kilo and 100AP headed too? Just courious. I've jumped 100AP a bunch, always was slow as hell, but I still always liked that plane. Lance
  20. I know quite a few people that use them for skydiving. Not a stylish as a bonehead, but its a lot better than nothing! Lance
  21. looks like a nice jump plane. Thanks for the info. Lance
  22. Nice shots. I know this is off topic, but I was wondering what type of plane are you jumping in the photos? Lance
  23. I got my AFF rating 2 years ago, a month and a half after I turned 18. My buddy of mine Jamie, also got his rating at the same course, and he had turned 18 3 or 4 months prior. Lance
  24. For an overhaul on a stock 0-470 your looking around $15,000. A top overhaul would be about half that. You can also upgrade the 0-470 to a 385hp engine as Todd mentioned. This is called the "P-Ponk" mod, they basically take your engine, bore it out, and in essence make it a 0-520. They say it adds about 35hp, taking the engine from 230hp, to 285hp. I've looked into this mod, and it costs about $22,000 for the overhaul and mod. check out: http://www.pponk.com The only draw back to them (other than the cost) is the fact they when they beef up they engine, they don't beef up the case, so i've heard of cases cracking at low hours due to the extra stress of 35 more horsepower. If you really have big bucks you could trade that 0-470 for a I0-550 which would give you 300 continuous horse power. I've jumped Forest McBrides I0-550 Cessna 182, and it took 4 of us to 12,000 in about 12 minutes. but i remember Forest saying the mod was not cheap at all! Lance
  25. my bad...thats what I get for listening to 3rd hand info. Lance
